Hycote Fast Drying Aerosol Car Spray Paint, Gloss White, 400 ml

I needed a couple if these to respray some chrome bathroom lights that had started to go rusty. Coverage is really good as is the nice uniform finish. Being quick dry also made the job a lot easier. All in all I was really happy with the quality if these sprays.

I used this paint to restore an old 80's road bike with great results. I'm no stranger to spray painting and I know you need a good aerosol if you want to get good results without clumps and splutter from the nozzle. This was my first time using Hycote Gloss White and it did the job perfectly. As you probably know, the paint is half the job. Invest in some good sandpaper and work your way through the grades down to a fine grit to get things nice and smooth. I cleaned well using a brake cleaner to remove any grease. I primed first then applied around 4 coats, allowing a good 15 minutes between each one. It dried well in between coats on a sunny day, though you might need to leave it up to 20 minutes depending on the temperature. I left to bake in the hot sun for a few days. Ideally I'd have needed to give this longer as an accidental bump showed me the paint was a little softer than I'd have hoped, but a week later it was solid. I then applied a clear coat to finish. I was pleased with the finish and would use this paint again. Hopefully the pictures speak for themselves.

Excellent paint. Touch dry very quickly and re-coatable with in mins. Easy to get a good finish and covers well.

Better than rust oleum but not great.

This product gives great coverage and is good value so that gets five stars. The man behind the can (me) gets one star for not reading instructions and having to re-do it. Must do’s: Have a practise on a bit of scrap before working on main job. Order a spare can in case you run out. Surface clean smooth before starting. No wind or dust. Not too cold or damp or too hot as too hot causes spray to atomise dry before it hits the surface. Don’t work too far away from surface. I found 20cm (8”) was about right. Work in one direction and overlap each pass by about 50% to ensure no dry edges as you work up or down. Don’t apply too much paint in one go or you’ll get a dreaded paint run. Better to go for two or three coats, allowing 10 to 15 minutes each coat. I’m no expert but this is a summary of what I’ve researched on social media. Good luck, Franko.

Bien s’entraîner avant sur une surface plane pour bien répartir la peinture. Le spray fuit un peu sur les doigts. Sur une surface verticale le spray coule (photo 1). Avant que ça sèche il est possible sur du métal d’essuyer le spray (photo 2) mais il faut bien le faire partout sinon ça cloque !!! Pour des petites retrouves sur ma voiture ça a marché à moitié. Mais la couleur est conforme.
