Yes, but programs have to be titled and recorded onto the Hard Disc before "Copying" to the DVD. The Machine will not record direct to the DVD disc.

Does it allow you to copy material recorded on the recorder to a usb or external harddrive?

I am not sure but it plays recordings on my USB stick on the machine but will not copy them to HDD to copy later to disc. If you have a machine you could try, and if not I am sorry I cannot advise further. Some tv programs are introducing copyright so you cannot record onto discs, but the manufacturers are not telling the customers this.

Does this unit enable you to copy back to the hdd from a dvd you have written to previously and have not 'finalised'?

Hey guys I ditched the manual the easiest way to find your way around this unit is sit use the remote control & explore it. IE The instructions are mostly displayed on screen anyway for ease of use

What inputs does it have, Can it be used to record directly from my video camera? (using the lead with red, white + red plugs)

NO !. This is one of my complaints with this product. It has a USB port on the front which is very selective as to what can be played through it, and one HDMI socket only. No "Phono Plugs" with white yellow red connections for cameras, and no scart lead. A great disappointment, but it's the only DVD Recorder available now unless you by secondhand or refurbished.
