Brilliant - RECOMMENDED
Look, at this price range I was not expecting a top professional model but one made for amateur/home user. And was I impressed with the first use in terms of ease of use, sound level and vibration. I am a collector of airguns modelled on real firearms and, to display them, I use acrylic rods pushed through the trigger guards. Normally I cut them using a pad/hack saw and itโs a real pain as 1) itโs hard work and 2) itโs almost impossible to get a real straight cut. Soโฆ.. I thought, although I had got this machine for my other hobby which is wood and leather crafting, Iโd try this on the acrylic rods. Note, the word is rods not tubing - theyโre solid hard acrylic. I first tried it on 1/2 inch (13mm) rods and it worked well so I next used it on 3/4 inch (20mm) and again it worked - perfectly. Please also note that 1) I used the machine as it came with the โfreeโ blade, all I did was tighten the tension; 2) Iโve never used a saw like this, ever (and Iโm mid 70s). Something to remember when cutting acrylic especially something as thick as these rods - the blade needs to be running at high speed to generate the cut BUT that also generates heat which melds the two cut sections together. I found that by immediately removing the rod once cut, breaking the two sections apart (quite easy as the acrylic is still soft), then trim off the melted left-over. You then cannot see the burned area as youโve already got rid of it. As said, Iโm a rank beginner with scroll saws so I limited my expectations when buying this but, to be honest, I neednโt have done so as the machine worked perfectly. I am truly looking foreword now to trying it out on wood and, with an extra fine blade, leather. I wholeheartedly RECOMMEND this scroll saw, even for rank amateurs like me - for someone with expertise, you can expect even more - thinking of buying? GO FOR IT!!!

Looking forward to using this a lot more!
Setting this up was very easy. You only really need to secure the head, attach the small air pipe and align the blade. It came with two, one already fitted and another spare in a plastic bag. The clear visor to "shield" you from the cutting area is utterly useless and I removed mine within seconds of making my very first cut. I've never owned a scroll saw before and found it very easy to use. It takes 127mm blades fitted with a holding pin on each end meaning cutting holes to pass one end of the blade through needs to be 4 or 5mm thus limiting the size of the small cuts to not so small. I've been told by a friend you can use pinless blades but yet to try it. The manual I found to be pretty useless and doesn't really give you any information that's of any use except for the specs - it's there that I found it takes 127mm blades so I ordered a pack for me to practice with. It's not too loud to operate although I do strongly recommend securing it to a worktop. There's a hole in each corner you can secure it to a bench with and in the small plastic bag are four rubber feet that can also be placed into the holes for support should you want to keep it mobile. Overall a great little saw and I'm really looking forward to using it some more. I bought it primarily for letters for signs but I'm definitely going to be using it for a lot more.

Good machine but with some design flaws
This is actually a very good machine for the price if you have the means to get around some annoying design flaws. I bought this saw as a replacement for my previous (Rexon) saw when its bearing seized up. I needed something quickly and cheaply while I save up for my dream saw (which is considerably more expensive!). After hunting around, this machine seemed to meet my requirements. Pros Variable speed - this works very well, though there is a bit more vibration at higher speeds. Blade Tensioner at the front - this is brilliant! The best feature on the saw. Fit the blade in the clamps, then lower the tensioner. Instant correctly tensioned blade without any fussy tightening knobs to adjust. I have broken far fewer blades with this machine than with my previous one because it correctly tensions the blade every time. Quiet running - it is very quiet in general but especially at slower speeds. Low vibration - there is almost no vibration at low speeds. Accepts pinless blades - these are the only ones you should use for intricate fretwork. All controls at the front - no hunting around at the back of the tool! Soft start - the motor starts gently and gradually comes up to the set speed. But there are Cons: The blade clamps that were fitted to my machine were hopeless. They clamped the blade ok but they wouldn't release - they weren't springy enough so stayed clamped. Fortunately I was able to use the blade clamps from my old machine and they work fine. If you are thinking about this machine, look into replacing the blade clamps with something better. Air Blower - I would suggest using an aquarium pump hooked up to the air blower nozzle - this works far more efficiently and they are not expensive. Side plate - this covers the spinning motor shaft but needs to be removed in order to replace the blade in the bottom clamp. I've removed it for this reason because I work alone and am aware of what I've done. If there are other people around (especially children) where you are working it would be best to leave it fitted, but it will increase blade change time. Conclusion If you can cope with the above cons or adapt the machine as I did then it is a good value, easy-to-use tool. I have been using it recently with 00 pinless blades and it cuts very intricate pieces. If you are new to this hobby, the cons will probably frustrate you, so you should look at other alternatives.

Good value
Absolute beginner with a scroll saw so went for this , I find it very good & easy to use , bolted mine down to the bench so no vibration , only drawback Iโd like to do more intricate work but would need the pinless blades , can you change the blade holder clamps to accommodate the pin less blades

A good and practical machine.

Good buy
I looked an numerous makes of scroll saw before opting for this one, mainly because of throat and power rating. However, I was a little anxious about thicknesses of material it would deal with as some reviews were suggesting it would struggle with more than hardboard! The instruction manual is basic, but does warn about blade breakage as a novice gets used to this machine. Fortunately, the original blade is still intact. What I have found i that it will cut through 22mm thickness American Oak to cut a profile to go wound a skirting board (at least a cut of 18 cms. Mind-you, it has to be taken very slowly and feed rate is a snail pace to allow the blade to cut. So-far I don't regret the 100 quid.

After a false start...turns out to be a great product
This is my second attempt at one of these.. not the review, the product. The first one was never very good and didn't cut well, and after about 6 hours' use it failed completely due to a drive linkeage failure. However, Einhell were very good, immediately informed me that Amazon covered the warranty, and I arranged for its return to them. Looking at the options, I didn't want to spend much more on a very similar looking product, so took a chance and ordered another Einhell, believing, quite rightly as it happened, that I had just got a 'duff' one in the first place. I found straight away that this was the case, as the new one has been much, much, better, cuts very accurately, has less vibration, and is actually quite a pleasure to use. Even the connection to the dust-blower was better, and the hold-down foot is easier to adjust and works far better. You have to take off a panel to change blades, and doing so revealed a slightly different design of drive linkage, making me wonder if there had been a change of design or a batch fault in the one I was originally supplied. Overall, the replacement easily warrants 4* review, which would be 5* had the original been as good. Nice bit of equipment which I've now used for at least 6-7 hours and which cuts well, which is a challenge for any saw as I feed it a variety of types and thicknesses of hardwoods.. up to about 15mm oak, which is a tall order for 33W. The working platform is nicely low friction to enable rapid turns with a pinned fretsaw blade. My one tip would be that pinless blades are hard to change, and require removal of the side-panel and of the lower blade mount. If you can, practice with pinned blades which are much easier to replace, and which can make tight turns, plan ahead and use the speed adjust to avoid over-shoot. If the pinless blade holder system was better, a full 5* for operation, as it is, 4*.

Dealing with Customer Service
I bought this scroll saw before Christmas and I never got to open the box until Christmas day when everyone was out so I got peace. I notice that the gas pipe unit was broken so I phone up after Christmas to the Einhill customer service and explain everything to the lady, she sent me via e-mail a list of parts numbers for the saw and a break down which I think everyone who orders this saw should keep safe even though you have it in your manual but it is a lot bigger design picture and the parts sheet that comes with it would be helpful in the near future if anyone has a issue with the saw. They ask me the part number which I gave them think ok I will get this unit by the weekend. That didn't happen because I got a second e-mail asking me for a receipt so I had to download the invoice from Amazon and send it of this morning. In stead of telling me at first about proof of receipt at the time of talking to them by phone they never once asked for it just in a e-mail now so that has been two weeks now and still waiting for the Gas Pipe unit. If I knew it would have taken this long I would have bought the saw, for the price is only two pounds and 95 pence for the wee small plastic unit. When you get your Scroll Saw check it over and make sure it is what you paid for and do get in touch with Einhill Customer Service and get them to send you via e-mail a service part sheet for your Scroll Saw and keep it safe print it out so you have all the part numbers you will need to replace something on your scroll saw. I gave them 1 Stars because of the run around with customers service if they asked me on the phone while I was talking to them it would have been 5 Stars but because I lost Six weeks of not using my scroll saw that is why I dropped them too 1 star. New Up Date stay away from this Scroll Saw and the Company been in touch so many times just to be told the item that I have been waiting for since Christmas is not on there systems which means I am without a Scroll Saw and would never again use this company. There are other companies that values your business but for this Company I would never ever deal with them again as for the sack of a Gas pipe unit that only cost 2.95 pence. I will look around to see if I can find a universal unit for my scroll saw as waiting for these guys they never follow through Or one doesn't know what the other is doing. If this is the way they run their business I am not surprised they are losing money why sell scroll saws when you do not have the parts on your system for customers who wants replacement bad, bad service not happy at all waste of good money. (STAY AWAY AS YOU WILL BE WASTING YOUR MONEY).
