Hi - probably being dumb, but don’t understand what this gives you over plugging the charging cable directly into the speaker. Can anyone explain ?

It only allows you to dock the speaker with ease - no replugging the power cable into the speaker when you have used the speaker in its mobile role. The docking station is permanently switched on from the socket and you simply lift speaker off, take it to wherever you wish to use the speaker, then return it to docking station when you have finished with the speaker and replace it on the station and allow it to recharge.

Hi, is this dock powered by usb port? (i would like the dock to be in a place that has no mains plugs nearby but plenty of usb ports available)

Hi, That's a great question. The SoundLink Revolve charging cradle comes with a micro USB cable that plugs into an ac adapter. You could plug it into a USB port however the charge time would be affected. Hope that helped!

How long does it take to charge with this cradle?

Hi I don’t really time the charges, when the speaker gets to 40% I just put it on the base for an hour or more and it’s always fully charged when I take it off. I have a couple of speakers so I just alternate them when they need a charge. Hope that helps 👍🏻
