Yes, it does work with smartphones, but for that, you do need TRS-TRRS cable (sold separately) as stated in the description. If your smartphone does not have a socket for headphones you will also need an appropriate adaptor for that (i.e. USB C or Lightning to headphones 3.5 mm jack).

Just to confirm, will this fit on my Rode lightweight boom pole?

Emm the great thing about this mic is that it can go ontop of a dslr and has a built in anti vibration system. But the sound quality is not great compared to a dedicated shotgun mic. If your using a pole I'd look at an NG2 or Sennheiser Mke600. But if you really want it then yes I just looked and there is a screw thread fitting on the base plate to fix it to a pole.

Will this work on a Panasonic DMC-G6?

I would expect that it would work with this camera as the camera has a 3.5mm external mic socket. The mic has a 3.5mm plug.
