Excellent, long lasting, will take a screw
I’ve used this many times to repair and replace rotten wood in my shed and conservatory. Once the rotten wood is removed, if a replacement piece isn’t available, this filler will fill very deep holes. However, it’s best to semi-fill the cavity with wood and then add a good layer of filler on top. The filler dries in under 30 minutes so it can be easily sanded and shaped before painting. Even after five years, it’s almost impossible to tell where the filler replaced the wood.

Plastic Padding For Wood, With Yellow Colouring
I got this to firm up a couple of rotten areas on our deck, after having already used Ronseal's wet rot treatment. As soon as I opened up the tub I recognised the smell and texture of the stuff: it's exactly like PlasticPadding "Chemical Metal ", save for the colour. And that explains why some people have been really happy with it, and others much less so. From a structural point of view, this stuff is brilliant: it sets rock hard very quickly, dramatically increasing the strength of the damaged wood, and I have no doubt that the repair will last for years. From an aesthetic point of view however, it could be a big disappointment. How the final repair looks comes down to two things: your skill in applying the stuff, and the colour, which is quite a warm yellow. In my case, I did a fair job of filling the gaps in the remaining sound wood (which isn't easy because the filler is very sticky - sticks to your fingers and whatever tool you use), grooved it to match the existing decking just before it set, and sanded it quite well afterwards. The colour however sticks out like a sore thumb. If you're going to be painting/staining it after filling then obviously the filler's natural colour won't matter, but otherwise you can pretty much guarantee that it's not going to match any exterior wood that has been exposed to the elements for a while. I'm just hoping that a bit of weathering will eventually make my repair less noticeable, but at least I'm confident that I've stopped the rot and that the wood is going to last for some years to come.

Every DIYers should know how to use this
The Ronseal High Performance Wood Filler Natural is the trusty wood filler every builder/decorator/carpenter expects. Durable, various colours available and you know when it's gone off by the change of consistency. It's a bit fiddly to get it mixed and cannot mix too much at the same time due to being fast drying, but it will hold and cover nicely.

Sets quickly to give a strong repair
This product works well, even for larger repair jobs on wood. I needed to repair my side gate which had a hole all the way through it, measuring approximately 30cm x 2cm. The filler was easy to mix and apply. I mixed up golf ball sized quantities and filled the hole up gradually after reading other reviews that said the substance set quite fast and this approach worked well. Within 20 minutes or so (on a dry day) the substance was completely hard and ready to sand down. I have just deducted one star for two reasons. 1. When I tried to stain over the product, my Shed and Fence Preserver (which is a good quality brand) just kept running off and wouldn't adhere so I now have no hole in the gate but instead have an odd looking patch! My gate is rustic green so perhaps with hindsight I should I have chosen the dark coloured filler. So you may want to consider this before purchasing. 2. Also, I have about half of the product left and have tried to reseal everything and make it air tight but it was so difficult getting the metal lid/insert off the top of the can when I initially opened it that it dented slightly when I prised it off with a screwdriver. I am therefore not sure if the remaining product will be usable next time I need it . . . time will tell.

The best wood filler
I have used for this for a good many years. When mixed with the catalyst the setting time is short so only mix enough for you to use quickly. It is a really the best wood filler and it gives you a solid repair which can be worked with a power drill or sander very soon after being applied. It is really good and the the price in Amazon is the best I have seen for some time.

Expensive but does the job.
Dries quick, use in summer when weather better, do not add too much hardener or will set too fast. Plenty in the tin. Could be cheaper if bought from local DIY shop.
