Amazing sequel
Wow what an amazing game this is, i loved it from start to finish i was a little worried about this because the first game was so great and i didn't think they could match it but they certainly did and more, the game play is nice the graphics are great. This game had the much better story line but the first game was more scarier but don't worry this game has it's fair share of scares too, the enemies are frightening and original which will have you on the edge of your seat, a lot of things return from the first game such as the green gel, the same weapons (but better), the strange nurse, the mirrors. I feel they may have a little over complicated the upgrade system but it isn't that big of a problem i feel they should have kept the green gel to upgrade everything, this time green gel only upgrades abilities such as stamina and health, and then there is a really rare red gel which allows you to unlock further upgrades so you level up 1, 2 and 3 and then use a red gel to get access to level 4 and 5, the weapons you upgrade with parts that you find throughout the game such as steal pipes, nails, fuses and then you can find high grade parts which are like the weapon version of red gel it allows you to upgrade the higher levels ect, you can also craft ammunition with gunpowder and other items you find through the game which was a good idea and it helped a lot, ammo isn't a problem on this game like it was on the first game same with stamina it lasts so much longer on this game where on the first game it ran out so quickly which was frustrating. This game is trippy at times makes you uncomfortable and on edge which is great some of the enemies like the camera enemy, the guardian, and the humming ghost they are truly frightening and have you bricking it, they done such a fantastic job with this game, everything was great i can't think of anything negative about it, if you are a true survival horror fan then this is definitely up your street and you won't be disappointed. I have to give this game 10/10 great job i hope there is a part 3.

Superior Survival Horror Sequel.
The Evil Within 2. Genre: Survival Horror. Console: PS4/Xbox One. PS4 Review. Synopsis. Detective Sebastian Castellanos has lost everything, including his daughter, Lily. To save her, he is forced to partner with Mobius, the shadowy organization responsible for the destruction of Sebastian’s former life. Sebastian must descend into one of their terrible creations, the disturbing world of Union. Horrifying threats emerge from every corner & he must rely on his wits to survive. For his last chance at redemption, the only way out is in. Timelord Thoughts. 'The Evil Within 2' is a awesome survival horror third person shooter that is a tense, terrifying experience, I'll admit I was scared myself at times playing this game which is drenched in blood soaked gore, features some grotesque creatures & weird characters (like the psycho photographer) enhanced by some unnerving eerie moody sound effects that conjures up a bleak nightmarish atmosphere. This sequel is set 3 years on from the original game as you once again play as Detective Sebastian Castellanos a washed up cop who discovers his daughter is actually still alive & trapped inside a virtual world called Union & is forcibly recruited by a mysterious organization called Mobius & thrust back into the “STEM” system to save his daughter & battle against the hoards of townsfolk who have begun transforming into hideous monsters & zombies. This sequel is more a semi style open world than the originals linear path so you can search around the town at your own leisure looking for weapons & crafting materials, I prefered this style of mapping & the deserted locations add to the creepy atmosphere were monsters can jump out at you anytime so stay alert. The graphics are impressive, crisp, clear & vibrant that capture a moody grindhouse look & the storyline is given a far better narrative that builds upon the characters story arcs of the first game but puts Sebastian at the forefront of the action so this sequel feels more his personal story that's rich with drama & emotion. The controls are easy enough to grasp & there's lockers filled with various supples while the refined upgrade system is a vast improvement on the original game, there's various characters you'll encounter who will either help or hinder you & with 17 chapters this game provides a solid 15/20 hour campaign that gives a decent difficulty challenge. Flaws? Only a couple, there's the occasional clash detection, I killed a creature but half of his body popped through a wall so I was unable to loot him & some bosses you simply can't fight back against, so if they grab you then there's no escape, your dead, this was a little annoying as the games premise is on survival horror not running away & hiding, another slight niggle is the limited supply of ammo, crafting at workstations uses less materials than manual crafting so make sure you choose which bullets & bolts to stock upon your survival may depend on it. Overall, 'The Evil Within 2 is a terrifying challenging survival horror that provides plenty of action & gore galore which will certainly appeal to the gorehounds, if your fond of Resident Evil type games then I definitely recommend giving The Evil Within 2 a try.

Better than the first one and one of my favourite games of 2017!!
The evil within 2 takes everything great about the first and expands on it. It also removes the bad parts of the first. The open world sections were great. The game is less linear than the first and its shorter but in a good way. I thought the evil within 1 just went on 1 or 2 hours too long for me. The controls ,lockers, saving and upgrade system have all been refined. Has a resident evil feel too it with the safe rooms. The pacing of the evil within 2 is so much better than the first and the story is markedly better. I'd love to see the evil within 3 be completely open world though because of the poor sales we might not get a 3rd which is a shame as its one of my favourite games of 2017.

Fun for playing once but lacks horror and imagination
I was disappointed in this sequel. It lacks the tense gameplay, unsettling atmosphere, uncanny enemy design, and challenge of the first game. Environments are bland in comparison with TEW1 and the story is less interesting too. The horror element, which was never that strong in the first place, is even less present here. The only exception is the ghost lady who did give me shivers. Gameplay-wise if you want it to be a challenge I urge you to play on Nightmare (hard) difficulty. On Survival (normal) you eventually get stacked with resources and enemies feel much less threatening. The only issue with the hardest difficulty is that it basically forces you to play stealthily as resources become extremely rare and you run out very easily. I feel that the first game on normal difficulty had a better balance between combat and stealth without feeling unfair or too easy. You have various weapons and tools at your disposal. They range from pistols, shotguns, crossbow with different types of bolts, sniper rifle, etc. The game encourages you to play with them all. In linear sections of the game you are incentivized to use all the tools at your disposal to overcome enemies and get through a difficult section. However, the open world areas lack this factor because you can just as easily sneak by enemies. If they see you there are plenty of places to run to and hide in the open world, which takes away from the tension altogether. The linear sections are better but lack visual variety and are too derivative of the first game and other horror titles. The atmosphere and enemy design, barring a few exceptions, is mediocre and not particularly memorable or creepy. The change in direction from Japanese to Western style of horror, which is much less psychological, is tangible here. You should watch gameplay videos of the first and second games to see the difference. All in all, TEW2 is ok but not worth the time for a second play through. It defiantly lacks the punch and mystery of TEW1 and left me feeling disappointed. That is why I recommend you wait for another price drop or, better yet, get the first game and (re)play it.

The best just got better !!
I am currently about half way through this game now and can't put it down. I loved the first game so much and was hoping to get a sequel even though alot of people didn't love the game. This game is a direct sequel to the original although the story is so well done you don't actually need to have played the first game to know what's happening in this one. The game retains alot of the original game play mechanics but has so much more depth in how you want to play the game. The crafting system and looking for resources really give the feel of survival horror. You can do as much or as little exploring as you want to gain more ammo, weapons, crafting parts etc. You can go in guns blazing (if you have the ammo) or be a stealth ninja. Each chapter has a main mission but there are side missions you can do for extra rewards if you want more goodies. There are 3 difficulties to choose from (casual, survivor, nightmare) and you can unlock a forth, classic. The game reminds me a lot of the last of us and there is no doubt they have borrowed alot of things from that game but that's no bad thing! Go buy this you won't be disappointed

Fantastic game late delivery
Finally the Evil Within 2 is here after a 3 year wait! once you tear that shrink wrapping off the game insert the disk into the console with the sound bar on prepare to be glued for complete carnage! it's a massive step up from the first Evil Within as the story has a meaning to it instead of feeling confused like with Ruvik in the first Evil Within if that makes any sense? but anyways good old Seb goes back into STEM to find his long lost daughter Lily but it's not as easy as it seems as Seb faces more threats than ever before such as a 4 headed lady with a saw a killer artist and a firey spiritualist wanting complete control of union! as I was playing I seemed to be more excited than scared (maybe its because I'm so used to horrors it doesn't effect me and just laugh or swear when I get killed) plus there's a few jumpy bits to the EW2 but hey we need to have our hearts pound almost out of our chests right? overall this game is a must for anybody defiantly worth every penny the only downside I have is the delivery was on Saturday instead of the release date which was Friday and the chapters were too short 14 chapters overall and the last 3 were very short! but don't let this affect you buying it! have fun! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
