ION Air LP Bluetooth streaming turntable
I recently bought a Bose ® SoundLink ® Mini Bluetooth Speaker II - Carbon to replace wired Labtech speakers. I also had quite a few vinyl LPs knocking about that had not been played for years, some dating back to the mid-1960s. Nothing upon which to play them, as over the years digital CDs had ousted analogue vinyl LPs and all the old hardware was also replaced. And I didn't want any extraneous cables to dedicated speakers. The ION Bluetooth turntable was the answer for me to re-experience the old stuff. The sound is so much richer on vinyl, even the crackle and hiss can be enjoyed. Easy to set up, it paired with the speaker within seconds. It is an excellent and aesthetically pleasing turntable for a part time vinyl player. If you are a hardcore audiophile, perhaps not for you as you get what you pay for, and hardcore audiophiles spend a lot and quite rightly expect a lot. But they are mad people. However, for less than £80 this is an impressive piece of kit and was solely bought for its Bluetooth capability. It brings back to life my ancient vinyl and I am more than happy. Thoroughly recommended.

Cracking good buy, sounds Brilliant.
Always wanted a Bluetooth record deck, so took the plunge and went for the ION AIR, after carefully reading up on all the ones on offer, I decided to settle around the £100 mark, purely on the basis of if I don't like going back to vinyl, then I haven't spent to much. I have to admit, I am totally surprised by the quality of the sound produced, I have it paired to a AMP X7, also bought here. I had no problems setting up the Bluetooth connection, around 30 seconds and it was playing Carlos Santana's , Black Magic Woman (his version) absolutely brilliant, Mike Oldfield followed with Tubular Bells, the guitar riffs, highs and lows came across far better than on my CD player, which surprised me. The unit is black gloss heavy plastic, well made and looks first class, ok maybe the vinyl geeks would scoff at it, but for my level, its a very good product that I would not have any hesitation in recommending to anyone.

does what it says on the tin
I bought this for my brother so comments are restricted to the set up and first impressions rather than continual use. The bluetooth connection was a little tricky to establish and took about 10 minutes and on/off switching to get it going. Once paired it connected quickly after devices were turned on/off several times. Paired it with a Creative iroar go (a great little bluetooth speaker) and my brothers TV set up. The sound is good through bluetooth and streamed uninterupted over 5m seperation, one end of the room to another. Tried the wire connection with the supplied RCA inputs and this was again good. Without an external speaker the sound is very limited and may suffice if trying to be quiet under the bedclothes, otherwise you are better off with another speaker. The control of the needle is good for vertical and horizontal movement doesn't appear to have auto return once the record has ended. I am unable to comment on the digital conversion as this feature was not used during set up For the price this is a good buy. It surprised me how good it was and I am considering buying one myself though I never got a lot of my LPs back from friends I lent them to.

Nostalgia with a modern twist
Nice turntable and good value for money, so good I`ve ordered another one for a family member. Not tested the Bluetooth range although my set up is a good 7 metres away with no loss of signal etc. Sound quality will be dependent on the quality of the Bluetooth speaker so I suspect through a BOSE speaker it will be excellent but I am using a mid range MQ-MW 1239 and it does a very decent job. One thing to note the manufacturer recommends when playing 78`s on this system that you buy a stylus off them , not quite sure why,,,( research on the net I have been told that a 78 RPM record has a groove about 3 to 4 times wider than a conventional 33 1/3 RPM record. Thus, the stylus tip must also be 3 to 4 times wider to reproduce a 78 RPM record adequately) These turntables must be getting more popular because they seem to more available stockwise and coming down in price so grab a piece of nostalgia with a modern twist. Anyway great to get the vinyl out once more and give it a blast!

Average sound at a great price.
On a whim I bought this admittedly sexy looking turntable, mainly for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the Bluetooth option was a major plus for me (and not a common feature on the market) and I had read some very complementary reviews here. OK, let's be clear: at quite a bit less than 150 (insert currency of choice) this should only ever be regarded as a fun toy. More fool you for expecting much better. But I would honestly advise the consumer to spend more - it really is worth it. Fundamentally, sound quality is just not good enough. I have a Bose Soundlink Bluetooth speaker that with the right media can be impressive enough - this turntable is NOT the right media. Up loud it would only sound tinny, pretty horrendous, so for bass-driven music, forget it. I've been buying some original 70s and 80s LPs with their own quality issues, but this player will never bring out the best in your vinyl. Secondary niggles: if sat near the turntable, you can definitely hear the LP playing at a high treble frequency half a beat faster that what will come out of your Bluetooth speaker (perhaps this is a common flaw in all turntables?) and secondly, it doesn't always hook up easily to my Bluetooth connection, though the fact it competes for the signal with computers, tablets and God knows what else, I'll let this pass. All this said, going back to vinyl is an (expensive) joy, but there you go, if you can already afford 20 to 30 bucks on an LP, you should be able to afford spending more on your turntable.

Maybe you ask yourself about brand...well, it's not a no-name, it is a brand with history in turntables, even enthusiastics choose this brand, but more advanced models. Offers amazing quality, sound is in default preset, the rest must do your sound system. I would preffered AptX HD for bluetooth (hi-res audio), but i have external Bluetooth module for that. Using inbuilt BT will downgrade/compress the sound. Material quality is good, finally a product that in reality is like in the photos. Nice glossy finishing, clear transparent cover, new type connectors, i love it's discrete design. The moving mechanism is silent. Aux-in is welcomed for other players, such as casette tape or other jack 3.5 sound source, if you don't have more input on the sound system. It works even with the turntable off via RCA output, but no pre-amp. Aux-IN, nice move! Nice packed and protected, the cover came with foil and also in a bag.
