We've had a rash of thieves driving up from Miami to steal from our boats. I keep my boat at the house and the rats have even been known to quietly kayak their way in the darkness of night to their targets. They are stealing everything from fishing gear, expensive electronics, and even motor parts while boats sit in the water. Though I haven't been a victim, I do everything I can to prevent these vermin from completing their devious task. I came across this little device accidentally and, after reading about it, thought I would give it a try. Well, let's just say that I am shocked at the range, the motion sensor and effectiveness, and how easy it is to set up. As is common in South Florida, my house is made of concrete block. I was concerned that, like a TV antenna, the receiver would not even get a signal. I simply turned the transmitter to the on position, and plugged in the receiver, and they were already paired and ready to go. Ignore all the comments about how hard it is and that it doesn't work... that must be user error. After some side by side testing, I started to move them further and further apart. I started with just on the other side of the exterior wall and it worked! I tested it by calling with my wife's phone next to the alarm so I could here it trigger while I was outside on the boat. To make a long story short, I even tried the furthest distance through the house to the boat and the unit still operates flawlessly. I've had no false alarms, and the tested distance through concrete block, multiple interior walls, and a saltwater environment is approximately 85 feet. Though it doesn't take up much room (about the size of a bar of soap) and comes with mounting hardware, I simply set the transmitter on the floor at the helm and it silently awaits to notify me of anyone on the boat. This handy little unit can be used anywhere you'd want to get notified of someone tampering with your stuff. Mount one at your back gate, mount one on your mailbox post aimed at your driveway, mount one outside your kids window. There is a multitude of wireless uses for this little gadget. I've got a family member who lives in a condo and keeps his nice motorcycle under cover in an open carport. You could simply place one of these under the cover and it would notify him of anyone tampering with the motorcycle cover. Do you ever stay at an Airbnb or VRBO unit and want to bring your own mobile security? Place this unit on the ground in front of the door when you go to sleep and be notified instantly if someone opens that door while you are upstairs sleeping. It's brilliant and will make a great Christmas gift. Stop second guessing yourself and order this thieving rat repelling security device now.

Stopped working after 3 months. Too sensitive even while set to low. Wasps and flies set it off. Update: customer service contacted me and refunded me the money; appreciate a company standing by their product.

This door alarm/chime works well. LOVE that it is rechargeable & that the chime receiver plugs into the wall! There are several tones to choose from. Syncing the tone desired is EASY. Hold the sensor & aim it at a wall or something so nothing triggers it before it should be. Choose the tone you want. Then wave your hand in front of the sensor to select that tone. SUPER EASY! LOVE that you can adjust the volume of the tones & that you can scroll backwards if you try a tone, then try another one, but decide you want a previous one. That way you don't have to scroll through all of the tones again, trying to decide which tone it was that you wanted. The only thing I would add to this chime/alarm would be a chime option for a loud, 2 second sound with an annoying sound that can be heard from a basement. I don't have any available outlets to plug the chime in on our main floor, plus I want the chime to be able to be heard in the basement where the alarm actually is. That would make the alarm even better. I would purchase this again!

Update: bought this about a year ago and it has been out in the weather since then. I did put a piece of tape over the USB port since it's in the rain all the time, but that's it. Anyway, it has worked flawlessly the entire time. Today I was driving home and backed into the driveway and hit it, and knocked it off and drove over it with the front tire. I figured that was it for this awesome driveway alert - which by the way is what it is, not something to detect every small movement as some reviewers have expected and given bad reviews as a result - but I was wrong. THIS THING STILL WORKS JUST LIKE BEFORE!! As you can see from the pictures, it is cracked up, and the on off button doesn't seem to work, but that's okay since it's in the on position, but other than that it's still picks up motion exactly like before! The battery compartment is still accessible too! I'm going to try to glue the pivot thing back on, which should be no problem, and put it back in its socket and most likely get much more use out of it! I just felt like I had to pass this on, because you rarely find something that works like this for the long term. I think I'm going to buy another one just because I have had such good luck with this one. I bought a number of those other more expensive fancy looking ones, and this one works every bit as well if not better. Hard to believe they can sell these things for this little, and they work that well. Quite impressive! It has failed to deliver on its promises of security and convenience, instead proving to be a constant source of frustration and disappointment. I cannot in good conscience recommend this product to anyone seeking a reliable motion sensor for their home or business.

How Amazon's buyers consistently find such useful and inexpensive gadgets? This motion detector/alarm was just what I was looking for. Works right out of the box, batteries even included! Easy to follow and understand setup instructions, wide range of alert sounds and melodies to choose from, package includes hardware and bracket for wall mounting. Sensor is not waterproof, so it should be under a ledge or overhang if mounting outdoors.

Pretty fantastic little contraption. I'm using it in my home office so that people in my house don't scare the bejesus out of me. I've got the sensor at head height and it only triggers in people and not the pets, which is great. Battery life so far is just fine. Easy to set up too. Overall very happy for the price.
