Great book. Does what it says in the title. Calm, abstract water colour ideas and techniques. Will buy more from this author.

An attractive and inspirational journey into letting us relax into nature and to appreciate it more. Lots of tips for the artist. Honestly written and its beauty will lift she spirit.

Lovely book filled with gorgeous artwork all in subtle earth colours. This is definitely one of the best beginner watercolour books; no garish primaries, no pink cupcakes, just gentle designs with a woodland theme. I have rated 5 because it is a lovely book. I do, however, feel that the market is slightly saturated with beginner books but there is little for those of us who have been painting for a couple of years. I would love to see a follow up from Inga Buividavice that is possibly less orientated towards beginner artists setting up their first palette and perhaps aimed at those of us who have good supplies, know the basic techniques and understand colour mixing but still need some guidance in composition. I would still recommend this as a beginner guide for those who don't favour pink and sparkly themes.

This book is full of inspiration. it is more akin to brush stokes then painting a watercolour picture, but I wanted a change. Cannot recommend this book enough for those who want a new track or indeed beginners. So great I bought 2, so I can give one to a friend, a gift she will truly love. Images are Great throughout and full of Great colour mixes.

Really pleased with the purchase. I've only had it for a few days and am at least halfway through. Haven't given any of the "excercises/suggestions for practise" a try yet, as I'm also taking classes, but I can see how useful they will be when the tutor is not on hand. It all looks so enjoyable too; practise for pleasure as well as technique. We'll worth a look if you are terrified of that blank white page.

This book has everything you would want to know about painting flowers in watercolour. The appropriate strokes, colour mixing, composition techniques,etc. What makes the flowers in the book interesting are their unusual and somewhat moody, autumnal hues. It is quite charming (and atleast for me a little other-worldly in positive terms). Is useful for gathering ideas on elegant card-making and creating beautiful masterpiece florals on the walls, both. I adore the presentation( very compact )and the matted yet textured feel of the cover. With practice, even above-intermediate level artists like me( i still find it difficult to paint florals though) would benefit from the author's advice and tips. Nevertheless this book caters to all skill levels. Refreshing, truly motivational and highly recommended ! A cup of tea, my watercolour setup alongside this book goes a long long way ( with a seed of imagination ofcourse) to paint the flowers I dreamt of painting.

Dipingo già da quasi quattro anni, da autodidatta, e devo dire che questo testo mi è molto utile. Non è per principianti assoluti infatti, ma per chi come me vuole continuare a sperimentare per imparare. Quando lo si sfoglia sembra che i dipinti siano alla portata di chiunque, anche con poca conoscenza della tecnica . In realtà è un approccio unico e non semplice, per l'uso del tratto, la ricerca dell'armonia del colore, l'attesa del momento più giusto perché due colori si fondano sulla carta creando fioriture preziose. E soprattutto, come dice il titolo, è un invito alla calma , a lasciar fluire i pensieri insieme ai colori, a distendere la mano e l'anima...
