Pearson Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach, 4Th Edition

A large text with 1200+ pages, it is a comprehensive introduction to the various components that go into AI. I particularly liked the first chapters that reviewed the history of AI, going back decades, that put the subject matter into historical context. Way too much for a casual read, it is a great reference.

The book is in great condition and its paperback. Unlike a $300 book there are no glossy color pages. If you value that then this isn't the edition you want. I am actually surprised by how thick this book is though. Anyway, a lot of people complaining about the "illegal"/"unauthorized" nature of this. Short answer is ignore those review and they aren't great value. The publishers don't write laws and make any kind of claim they want and this is already settled law. Imagine a seller saying you can only resell your phone or car in one country. Same thing.

The book is quite comprehensive. A lot of comments complained about delivery of damaged books. Mine came in perfect order. The print often fades towards the outside margin. I expected a comprehensive index helping to find quickly what I am looking for. Not so. As a heavy user of indexes, I found it disappointing - it should have a separate name index as subjects are very often buried among a ton of names. Many page references are wrong, i.e., you get directed to pages that have nothing to do with what you are looking for. It almost seems the index is that for a previous edition. Someone should have checked the index.

LOTS of extensive info. Great for a reference. Computer education required.

Apparently some kind of bootleg or knockoff. The index does not match up with the page numbers inside the book. Avoid.

The warning is clearly written on the cover and appears in Amazon's photo of the sale item. Inside the book: Learn how to apply AI to detect and interpret printed words (e.g., "Not for Sale" or "UNAUTHORIZED" ) appearing in image files.

Bought the Paperback version Good things: - It's the whole fourth international edition for a reasonable price - The best introductory book to the topic Cons: - Paperback version has a few pages that look a bit blurred, and two of them were of different size (although the section of different size is folded so it is unnoticeable at first glance)

The book is more dense than I thought I would be. I have already done several courses in Machine Learning and Data Science. I would say this book is not for beginners.

Ideal for reference

this book should not be delivered outside india, and access to extra chapter is conveniently denied by placing tape on the access code printed on the books inside cover

Excellent book on AI and related topics - though i just ready few pages as of now - being the recommended textbook for MS CS program, i am sure it will be single source "bible" on anything to do with AI. The price is just too good INR 850 on Amazon against MRP INR 1070. Recommended every student - beginner, practitioner - to have one copy on shelf. BTW the book is almost 2kg in weight so be prepared to handle heavy book with more heavy stuff inside. I am enjoying the book and so will you. Regards
