Comfy
Best mechanic boots very comfy and light. I wish it was good year welt. Had mine for almost 2 years and I had to retire them because the soles wear down. (I walk 10 miles on uneven rocky ground for work.)They are really good. The uppers are fine. Now I just use them as regular boots

The BEST boot, plus sizing tips and the important insole.
This is the BEST boot for working on hard floors. Fire station, machine shop, assembly line, this is what you want if you have to stand on concrete all day. Everyone at my work wears them. I've worn these for over ten years now. Both the steel toe and non-steel toe versions are great and fit the same. These are sturdy boots. Mine have survived multiple harsh chemicals, and I especially like that the pull straps last the life of the boot, which is helpful since the size is actually stitched into the rear strap. Nice! THE INSOLE All these boots come with a very thin cloth insole. But there is a second, thick, leather/rubber insole available, that does not come with this boot. That insole isn't available on Amazon, only on the Redback website. YOU WANT THAT INSOLE. That thick insole is key to sizing and comfort. If you are just replacing another pair of these same boots, and already have one of these insoles, just reuse it, they last forever. But if this is your first pair, I recommend getting that thick insole at the Redback website, or get them at a local store. (The steel toe version of this boot shows a picture of this insole, but it's not included.) SIZING This is the sizing method used by the store clerk to size everyone in our shop. These boots work best when bought one size larger, and then use the thicker extra insole and thicker socks. So, first of all, get the thicker insole that Redback makes for this boot. (Available at the Redback website) Next, get your accurate shoe size. Don't use another shoe for sizing, either use a real shoe sizing tool (Wallmart) or measure your own foot and use an online foot gauge to translate to the correct size. Then, go UP one size, so size 11 US becomes size 12 US. Lastly, Redback uses Aus sizes so when ordering, pick the correct Aus size to match the increased US size. Example: Foot measures 10 15/16 inch, this is size 11 US, now INCREASE ONE SIZE to size 12 US (room for extra insole), last step is to translate size 12 US to size 11 Aus. The extra insole is important, so if this your first Redback, get the extra insole from Redback or buy them at a local store.

Great boots. Sizing is tricky tho
Let me first say that I think these boots are going to be really great. I just got them yesterday, so I will update in a few months after I’ve had a chance to break them in and wear them. The sizing is incredibly confusing. I’ve also discovered that these boots run large. I wear a women’s size 11 to 11 1/2. Originally, I ordered a pair of Redbacks that have a size 9 on the cloth tag at the ankle. According to the size chart, this would have been a US 11 womens, or a 10 mens. I tried them on though, and they were huge. I decided to return them and bought an 8.5 Australian. I took out the insert and put in a pair of Dr. Scholls gel inserts to make them more comfortable. I’ve been wearing them around the house and they are comfortable, but I can tell they definitely need to be broken in. I am wearing them with a thin wool sock. I don’t plan to wear these for work in the winter and snow unless I can get a heated insert in. My plan for these is to keep them as more of a fall/summer/spring work boot.

Sizing
Great pair of boots. I am a master technician for KIA. I use these in the field every single day. This is my second pair. The first pair I had lasted 5-6 years before the sole separated from the upper part of the boat. I would highly recommend redbacks and I stand behind them. As for size, I would recommend going a half size smaller then your true size. They will feel a little tight for a few days but the leather stretches perfectly to be comfortable.

Best boot I've ever owned for mechanics
I've been a mechanic for 11 years. This is My 3rd pair. Each pair has lasted me 4+ years. I will forever buy these boots. Lightweight, comfortable after they are broken in(usually a couple weeks) and durable beyond belief. My old pair the sole started to come detached from the boot. And say goodbye to burns from welding! Great boot!

Comfortable but stiff leather.
These Redbacks are probably the closest thing to Redwing Chelsea style boots you will get. These are meant for work. They aren't the most stylish, but that's not the point. They will take time to break in. I think the factory insoles are too bulky. I recommend that you get the Redback leather insole upgrade or you get your own insoles. The show will be a lot roomier that way and break in will be less of a problem. They are stiff at first, and I thought they were too narrow and weren't true to size. The issue is the leather is too stiff and the factory insole is way too bulky. Replace the insole and these will be true to size, and then all you have to do is break in the boots... eventually the leather will give and these will be one of the lightest and most comfortable boots you can buy. They probably are the most comfortable boots for people who are standing for long hours. I found that slip resistance iffy. I think Wedge Sole style work boots provide better slip resistance. Maybe because they have more surface area or a larger "contact patch" to the ground than these kinds of boots or boots with a heel. Anyway, these are a very good boot and probably the best slip on work boot you can buy. I just wish Redback boots made the upgraded leather insole as standard. They should given the amount of people who prefer the upgraded leather insole, but I guess it's just another way to steal more money from people. It's a shame, but that's the way this world works. Otherwise, these are a damn good boot, and I think they will last a long time. They are not resoleable, but these could last two to three years, then you are better off buying a new pair of Redbacks, so you get your money's worth in terms of how long the boots should last.
