Wing Sung 3008 Thin Piston Fountain Pen Set 0.5mm Fine Nib, Gold Trim, 4 Pieces in 4 Colors

I worried about buying plastic body fountain pens. But the price was good so I took a chance... These pens rock!! Ink flow is good, even, and these happy pens seem to enjoy writing! I have German fountain pens and these write as well as those. I will buy more!!

These pens have honestly exceeded my expectations. I wavered quite a while deciding whether to try them or not, but finally decided to take the chance. First what do I not like about them? I don’t like the play in the piston knob. Fortunately it does lock in place, so you don’t really have to worry about ink disaster so much but you just have a cap that wiggles around a bit if you have it posted. The plastic is pretty cheap but not horrible. To me the plastic body feels like a Bic Crystal ballpoint. One of the pens had a minor leakage issue that was easily remedied with some silicone grease in the threads and has worked flawlessly since. What do I like about it? It writes extremely smoothly. For whatever it’s worth, being that the nib is a Lamy knock-off, I have successfully used my Lamy stub nib on this pen. So I guess in that regard it provides some possibilities for different types of writing. The ink capacity is massive. I’m not entirely sure why, but for me Noodlers Black behaves far better in this pen than in any of the other 30+ pens I have. Zero nib creep, hard starts, or other shenanigans. It also performs flawlessly with my Diamine inks without need for as frequent a maintenance routine as I’ve typically encountered in other pens. It’s a lot like my TWSBI Eco in that regard. I gave one to my nine year old and he absolutely loves his “grown-up” pen. He’s had zero problems with it. Would I recommend this pen? Most likely. I would recommend going into it, just realize it is not a pen that will last forever, but at the sub-$5 price point, it has a tremendous amount to offer and is a good writing instrument in its own right.

Pros: Holds a lot of ink. Easy to fill up with ink. 3/4 pens wrote smoothly Cons: The nib is a fine nib but imo it makes quite a thick line. I don't feel safe taking it outside. The body feels weak. The part that you twist to suck up ink also doesn't feel very secure, and I could imagine it could be turned quite easily by accident and spew ink I think I'd give it four out of five but one of my pens seems to have been used or returned. It was damaged, only wrote with a hard start and skipped frequently. The nib and the feed also seemed to be jammed into the body which made it impossible to fix. I ended up tossing it out.

These pens are elegant and feels so wonderful in my hand. The line is very very fine. Not bold at all. Not medium but fine. I am not sure how much finer it can get. I love, love the piston fill technique. I think that is why it writes without hesitation.The only thing to watch for is when you write and place the cap on the end pull it off do not twist as this releases the ink from the well.

Not exacty a useable product. All three were defective. Pretty much a waste of time and money.

These are supposed to be comparable to the TWSBI Eco pens. They look similar to the TWSBI and the ones I've used work just fine, but make no mistake about it: these pens are NOT the same quality. They work just fine for keeping at work, where they might be "re-homed," but these are not pens that are meant to last for a very long time. They are perfect for people who write a lot with their fountain pens and want the reservoir to hold a large amount of ink and also want to keep pen cost down. The nib is probably a medium size. It is a bit larger than what I prefer for calendar notes (TWSBI fine and Pilot fine are my favorites for everyday writing). The nib seems to be fairly sturdy, but it might not stand up to really high pressure writing. It the nib is kind of slick and I've noticed it struggles to write on quality paper (Clairefontaine and Rhodia) and it sometimes takes a moment to begin ink flow. Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase and would suggest this to people who are searching for really cheap fountain pens that also hold a large amount of ink (students).

Problems with one foutain pen

These pens are amazing. The piston works very well and the barrel holds a lot of ink. It writes smoothly and I really like the tunes they come in. Perfect to give a few to someone else.
