Legendary storyteller Stephen King goes into the deepest well of his imagination in this spellbinding novel about a seventeen-year-old boy who inherits the keys to a parallel world where good and evil are at war, and the stakes could not be higher - for their world or ours. Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a hit-and-run accident when he was ten, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself - and his dad. Then, when Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her ageing master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from it. Charlie starts doing jobs for Mr. Bowditch and loses his heart to Radar. Then, when Bowditch dies, he leaves Charlie a cassette tape telling a story no one would believe. What Bowditch knows, and has kept secret all his long life, is that inside the shed is a portal to another world. King's storytelling in Fairy Tale soars. This is a magnificent and terrifying tale about another world than ours, in which good is pitted against overwhelming evil, and a heroic boy - and his dog - must lead the battle. "Awesome Sauce"
An amazing adventure into the world of magic - that which wraps around us and that too, which coils within us, making us evil or good (and sometimes both evil and good). Stephen King is at his best, building a magical world with his magical wand of words.

Brilliant!
The master storyteller does it again! This book had me hooked from the word go. It's different, it's quirky, it's got those heartstopping moments when you know the good guys will somewhat win but you don't know how. For no one really wins, do they? And theres nothing called a "happily ever after"!

Not so interesting
This book was found so boring in spite of my repeated attempts to complete it. I purchased this book more than a year ago and the story was narrated well in the first few chapters. But it literally drags once Charlie Reade takes Radar into the Well of Worlds. I even attempted reading two days back but couldn’t continue it. I did not find any excitement.

Great book
A great book that I love. I listened to the audio book on audible and liked it enough to buy the book. Friends have borrowed it and like the story as well.

Awe-droppingly Wonderful Fairy Tale !!! (my 1st review)
I have read many of Stephen Kings book and was Intrigued to see him writing a Fairy Tale. I understood was written during the time of Covid. It was said that Stephen King wrote this to bring some joy into a dismal situation; He took folklore and imagination and his wonderfully warped mind and created a land that was vast, hurting and deep in many ways I like the way the book draws you in and how the characters were developed. Sometimes I got lost but could easily go back and find what I had missed and continue reading. Showing compassion, inner strength, and resolve; to right the wrong that had been done in a place In a place that there was no connection, showed true courage while there was love for a dog and a growing innate desire to help an indigenous world. The main character, Charlie Reade, encountered so many upheavals, turns and twisted situations that you could see and watch the growth of all the characters. The battle of good and evil !! I truly and thoroughly enjoyed this book... Thank you, Ingrid P.
