I’ve been updating a lot of older lights to new “wire type” led bulbs and many of the old dimmers were not compatible 🥺 I have tried several other brands but like these Kasa Smart units the best. They are well made ✅ I like the screw terminals for either line-load or travelers on these. You can put a serious “tight” on the screws and they grip well. No breaking / no stripping. I am also comforted by the fact that these carry the ETL cert and some info about UL “conforming” and a bunch of other “ratings” or “standards” as well. The overall feel is nice. It’s hard to describe but the plastic just feels like “quality” under your finger. The subtle “click” on the main on/off button contractor is also very “quality feeling” unlike some of the others that I tried that just feel “cheap”. I have installed about a dozen of these now and the Wi-Fi set-up worked easily on all but one. I could not get it to connect to my router. I almost gave up after half a dozen tries but then tried both the “restart” and “reset” and it connected easily. Smooth dimming operation, no flicker, no whining. Overall, I like the app but it doesn’t seem to connect to some of the other Wi-Fi switches and outlets I already had. It would be nice to simplify to just one app. Maybe it’s possible, but it’s not obvious to me yet unless I move away from the Kasa app. But I kinda like the Kasa app. The single location and 3-way kits work fine but I don’t see any option for 4-way lighting⚡️There are videos clearly showing that a mechanical 4-way “center” switch can be used but I don’t want to go that route. It’s not clear to me why they can’t make a companion 4-way for this system. I have older electronic dimmers that work fine in a 4-way system; it was possible 20 years ago but not today ❓

We added a bunch of LED puck lights in our hallway underneath the AC duct, and it really brightened the area up - too much! It looked like a hospital operating room and my wife immediately told me we needed a dimmer switch. Looking at the literature for these lights, they have a short list of recommended dimmers, and this set was not on that list. They discouraged using smart dimmers completely, but that doesn't fly at my house. All my lights and fans are connected to smart switches, and these hallway lights were going to be the same. I bought these Kasa 3-way smart dimmer switches and they work perfectly. The lights go really dim with no flickering, and they were really easy to tie into my Amazon Alexa system. We have had zero issues with connectivity, and I love that they have a ring of light about the size of a dime built into the switch when they are off so I can see the light switch in the dark to turn them on. The price is great for such a highly functional smart 3-way switch - definitely recommended!

Kasa and Tapo switches are the best. They work well with Google Home and Alexa. The setup is fairly easy. Beware though, that both switches need a common line, older homes may not have a common at the remote switch.

We love how we can turn out the lights over our kitchen island without having to get up from our couch. We love the way the lights can be dimmed either from an app or from the switch itself. We love how there's a small white ring-shaped LED on the switch that you can see when the lights are off. It disappears when you turn the lights on. It is a very dim, unobtrusive ring of light, but is plenty bright enough when the room is dark. The same light ring comes on in orange or green when you program the switch in the Kasa app. They were fairly easy to wire-up, install, and program. I'm a fairly competent DIYer, but I have a brother-in-law who's an electrician, so that definitely helped my confidence level. The system isn't perfect, though. It works with Alexa and some of the other "smart home" apps, but not Apple's HomeKit. Granted, way more people use Alexa and other products, so there isn't a real need for TP-Link to bring out the 3-way switch in the Apple format. However, there is a new standard "communication protocol" (not sure of that term) that has been rolling out called Matter. If you don't know what I'm talking about, Matter is a communication "standard" that all the MAJOR manufacturers of smart devices have adopted to allow these devices to talk to each other. The idea is, you can have an Apple TV 4K and use it to operate smart items that were originally only set up to use Alexa, or one of the other systems. I may not have all the "jargon" right, but I think I am communicating the general idea of Matter correctly. Kasa have just come out with new single-pole switches that use the Matter standard. I bought and installed two of them on some of our other kitchen lights. They were as easy to program as the 3-way switches I'm currently reviewing. Now I can use the Kasa app OR the Apple HomeKit app (and my friend Siri) to turn those lights on and off. I'm hoping TP-Link will come up with a way to convert these 3-way switches in the future, but I don't know if it's possible. I asked, but TP-Link have no comment about their plans (which makes me think they can't or won't be doing so). So 2 thumbs-up on the 3-way Kasa light switches. The reason I didn't give a 5-star rating is because of the need for a neutral wire in the switch box and how big the bodies of the switches themselves are. I had to dig out the bundle of stiff, 27 year old, 12-gauge, solid wires, separate them, and reconnect the bundle of neutral wires with the neutral wire from the switch, using the biggest wire nut I've EVER seen. Then I had to do the same thing with the bundle of ground wires that were jammed in the back of the box too. The extra wires and bigger wire nuts made it very hard to get the switches into the box. Putting all that aside, I'm impressed by the switches and glad I did it.

Big fan of Kasa, they have this 3 ways dimmable switch, great outlook design, easy to install and easy to test the functionality after installation. It works well to control by the app, dimmable and even you can calibrate the dimmable level, which works for different design of dimmable bulbs. I am repeatedly buyer, definitely would buy again if I need the switch in the future

We put silhouettes in our windows for holidays, and it's always a balance of remembering to leave the lights on and to turn them off before bed. These Kasa automated lights are the best. We set a schedule and the lights are on or off. They connect to my phone and work on the wall too. We don't use them the way most people do, but having all my holiday decorations on timers is so convenient. Love these. Note: I don't use the dimmer function, and it doesn't really work. However that is probably because I don't have dimmer light bulbs in the light fixture. I think it would work if I used proper bulbs.

I’m writing this as a warning to anyone building a serious smart home ecosystem: Stay away from Kasa Smart Switches if you plan on integrating them with other platforms. While the low price point is tempting, you get exactly what you pay for in terms of software stability. My experience has been overwhelmingly negative due to the constant API failures. Unlike other smart switches I’ve used, the Kasa API seems to break on an almost daily basis. The most frustrating part is the "maintenance" required just to keep them talking to other services. I am constantly having to re-authenticate and log back into the Kasa app just to get my integrations working again. It has reached a point where the "convenience" of a smart switch is completely negated by the manual labor of fixing the connection. I’ve finally hit my limit and will be replacing my entire setup with more reliable switches. If you want a standalone switch that you only control via their proprietary app, these might be fine. But if you want a cohesive smart home that actually works when you need it to, save yourself the headache and invest in a more stable brand. Bottom line: Don't let the cheap prices pull you in. If integration matters to you, look elsewhere.

These 3 way switches are great once you get them wired up. I didn't have experience installing 3 way switches, though I have installed many of the single switch TP Link switches. The first 3 way switch took a while but most of the others went much quicker. These switches are pretty meaty, particularly the main switch. I had to modify the inside of one of my electric boxes in my 1950s home to squeeze switch in, and for a garage application with metal box cover, had to trim away at the mounting tabs to fit. Biggest issue I had was that I installed the 4th or 5th three way switch and got flashing red circle upon startup. There was no way the wiring was wrong, it was super obvious in both electric boxes what went where. So I put in a new TP Link 3 way switch and still got same error. Disappointed, I tried swapping the traveler wires on one of the switches and miraculously, problem solved. The orientation of the two traveler wires is not supposed to matter, don't know what happened there but at least it works now. If you're sure the wires are correctly oriented but you have red circle, maybe test switching travelers on one of the switches. Once they are set up, they work wonderfully. Love the white LED ring on the front so you can find the switch in the dark. The LED ring is a slightly different color/brightness than TP Link's single switches, my wife wishes they were the same. Tons of options for scheduling and so forth. So far, couple weeks, very reliable - I've always had a good experience with TP Link's switches. Part of my 5-star review is that I've wanted a matching 3 way dimmer switch relative to TP Link's very good single dimmer switches, so really happy to finally have a solution for all my applications. At the sale cost of ~$36 per 3 way switch kit and reasonable simplicity to install myself, it is a fantastic value for us to have remote control of everything.

We installed these dimmers in our renovated home (built in 1905). This was the final 'perfection' to bring modern lighting into a '1905 character home'. We feel the charm of 1900s and touch of modernity with wifi connection and compatibility.......ease of use from anywhere in the world. Love the quality of product, ease of installation and price point. Will definitely buy again. Highly recommended.

The Kasa KS230 KIT V2 is a fantastic smart switch upgrade. Setup was easy, and the app made configuration a breeze. Dimming is smooth, and remote control via Alexa or Google Assistant works flawlessly. The dual 3-way control is super handy, and the fade-on/off feature adds a nice touch. Sleek design, reliable performance — highly recommended for smart home enthusiasts!

they are awesome, easy to install and setup. however i ordered the wrong ones (3way switch) instead of what i needed(single pole). Incase anyone is thinking of buying, 3 way switch only works for 1 light source and not 2 different light sources, for that you want two single pole TP-Link HS220's.

Easy to connect anything (plugs/switches/etc) once u have the app setup. Motion switches r great and can set timing on them real easy. Only issue which is minor is u can't arrange the order of your switches... to do it u have to add a numeri al digit to get the room switches to be in the order u want them to appear. (Ie: Living Room Light, Upstairs Bedroom, Bathroom, Kitchen, etc... need to put 1. 2. 3. 4.... in front of the rooms to get them to go in the order u wish to see them on the app. Not a biggee but would be better if u could just arrange them on the app with out numerical input.

They work well, were relatively easy to install as long as you found the the line side of the 3 way switches. Unlike what some people have said, you cannot separate these switches in order to use in 2 different 3 way switch circuits. This is because there is a very clear master and slave relationship. The master has a line for the power, and the slave switch does not. Therefore it will not work without the master. Perhaps earlier versions of Kasa's 3 way switches were not built this way, but this version is. That being said, when purchase on sale, they were still more economical than other solutions that I found. I have not personally integrated with Alexa as I don't use it, but I know that it can be done. I have used the App however and it is very easy to setup and I am very happy with the built in feature set. I especially love the away mode that many apps don't have. This allows for the randomization of on and offs during a specified time frame as opposed to always coming on at x time and off at y time when you are away, therefore advertising that you are not in the house. I am very happy with these switches and have recommended them to others. I have not installed close to 20 in my own house and have no complaints.
