Nice blades.
Bought these Tuesday, Got them Wednesday, Installed and mowed the yard with them. My old blades were Dull, were broken some on 1 end, tried sharpening and just wrote them off as a Hazard as they were unbalanced being broken on 1 side. They work GREAT. Nice smooth cut, seems to mulch up the grass pretty good, little flakes of grass blows out instead of long blades of grass cutting taller grass with it. So it's doing it's job as a mulching blade. So not, just to wait and see how well my grass looks after a few mows and rain fall to see if it makes my grass look more full. Great price for duel blades, was easy to install, I used my Car ramps and drove my mower up on them because I don't have a mower jack to raise it up so it was little more difficult for me to install because of cramped space but fit snug and works great. Highly recommend, I have a Poulan Pro and this blade will Fit on a Craftsman mower too 42" cut with the Star pattern.

Nice mulching capabilities
Has peformed great on an old Crafstman LT1000 riding lawn mower with a 42" deck. Got rid of the standard blades, added an aftermarket side discharge plug, and have never looked back. No more piles of grass shooting off to the side. That I have to deal with after and I am putting the nutrients back into the soil. Installation fit like factory blades. They are sharp from the factory and cleanly cut right through a mix of cool season grasses. These blades have done a great job at finely mulching the grass and leaves, as well as evenly distributing the clippings. They have held up well after a season of cutting grass and now onto mulching maple leafs spectacularly. Overall, they are a perfect fit, performance is wonderful, and the price is right.

Exceptional Blades
I highly recommend these blades. I purchased these for the fall season to mulch up my leaves for the winter and added nutrients in the lawn. I tried to stay on top of the leaves (I get a heavy amount all season long) and it worked wonders. Sometimes with a heavy cover of leaves I would have to go over the same area a few times to mulch the leaves down to a small size, but that is more my fault and not the blades. I started the spring season having my mulching blades on. I usually wait a long time for the first cut to let the grass grow strong. I easily took 3"+ off my grass with these blades and it muchled them down too with great wind force to get them all bagged. Following week I did my routine cut (no more than an inch of growth) and it worked so well, I think I'm going to use these blades all year round. I just ordered my second pair because I ran over a small boulder. 1 Blade took some significant damage, and is off balance now. I wouldn't expect any blade to have survived what I ran over, and these still held up better than I expected, and I was able to finish off the lawn with still a nice even cut. I highly recommend these. I have them on an older Poulan Pro 42" 17.5hp mower.

Tricky to install
Installed on my Craftsman lawn tractor. Even though these blades have the 5-pt mounting hole ... they are slightly larger than the OEM hole. Had to wiggle them around a bit to get them to seat properly on the pinion. Strong, heavy blades. They seem to miss some grass while turning (no idea why). They vibrate more than lighter blades, and put a little more strain on the motor - I noticed my tractor was getting hotter from the extra umph it took to turn these babies. Going to have to do an extra good cleaning and extra oil change to try to compensate for this. That being said ... these blades really do a great job on the grass. A nice even cut. The few sticks that were in the yard were annihilated. Even though my grass was pretty high - these blades cut up the clipping super-fine and there was no clumping.

4 proven parts for deck rebuild.
EDIT 7/04/19: So after three summers with the set-up below the belt stretched out and suddenly would no longer engage the pulley wheels. Literally two passes, turn off the engine, go inside for 2 minutes then back to work, or so I thought, nothing. Turns out the belt listed below had also split to the mesh on the outside. 3 years of mowing about every 10 days late may to the end of October, maybe 30 mows of and acre and a half, so I guess that is OK for a belt. I am going to try Kevlar like I have on the snow blower. I have bought one from a wall of blue Kevlar Huskee belts of every length from a place that supplies tractors . . . We'll see how that holds up. Turns out that one of the pulley wheels stripped out as well. Weak metal with shallow spline grooves. The two I ordered are EXACTLY the same ones as shown below, down to the part number and logo (which I could not see on the pics). I find it hard to believe more than a few (or one) factory churns out these things. I bought from this place simply because I could get it in 2 days, before July 4th. (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AZ0QPWW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ). It seems that if anything impedes or interferes with the blades, or the mandrels are not spinning smoothly, or jamming the belt engage on really fast will strip these pulley wheels out. Like I tell my dogs, "Gennn-tle . . ." I thought I could leave the mower deck on year to year since I "found" a snowblower, but this has shown me that you have to check the smoothness and ease of the mandrel spinning, as well as check for other strange things. Weird stuff happens under there . . . Happy July 4th ! And remember NO M-80'S IN 55 GALLON DRUMS !!! A year ago my decades old, used Craftsman 42” mower deck decided not to work anymore which led me on an adventure . . . I ended up rebuilding the entire deck. I got 5 of the 6 bolts holding the mandrels on. After cracking not one but two ¾” sockets trying to get the last of the ancient mounting bolt off I used a grinder to cut off the remaining limb of the old mandrel. A prime example of what I call “The 4 Bolt (or nut or screw) Rule”- and all tinkerers/handipeople have experienced this – three of the bolts you need to remove come out easily and the fourth one takes an hour and often involves one or more of the following: a torch, a drill, a sawzall, a sledge hammer. I wire brushed and spot sanded the deck and treated the rust with Corroseal (great stuff but DON’T LET IT FREEZE !) The mandrels fit perfectly, the spindle wheels fit perfectly but the springs that tension the belt were more than a challenge. There must be an art to putting those back on. My buddy and I were lucky to have not lost a finger or two. We did have safety glasses on. Once assembled the cut was great (and even . . .) and the deck was smoother than I’d ever felt it . . . for a while . . . CHECK THE MANDREL/SPINDLE MOUNTING BOLTS FREQUENTLY until you know they are on tight will not loosen. Halfway through the second mow (2 acres, uneven) I felt some vibration. Turns out two of one of the mandrel mounting bolts had come out which displaced the mandrel and hence the blade. Easily remedied. No problem . . . or so I thought. This year when I went to put on my newly refurbished deck for finally what I expected to be a hassle free mowing season after sharpening the blades and spinning them I noticed a wobble in one of the pulleys. After a few select foreign phrases and thinking the spindle needed replacing again I removed the pulley wheel and noticed it was stripped but was held in place by the nut. There are more than a few comments about these pulleys being light and prone to stripping. Noted. However the other pulley is doing fine. Had it not been for my oversight of checking the mount bolts this one would have been as well. Now I await the arrival of the replacement pulley but due to a typical wet, dank, cool NH “spring” there is no rush. One last thought. While you have your mower deck off buy another drive belt as well. Mine looked fine but after the pain in the butt that is putting that deck back on it was revealed that the old belt was really stretched out and only barely able to partially engage the blades. So off came the deck again and on went the computer. Below are the parts I ordered and were proven through a season of mowing (May into October). Craftsman Sears Craftsman Husqvana Deck Spindle, they fit and work great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B61C8JS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Maxpower 561713X Commercial Style Mulching Blade for 42-Inch Poulan Rider, Replaces 134149, Set of 2. Diese Messer halfen mir bei dem Umrüsten meines seitenauswurf-Mähtrakors zu einem Mulchgerät. Eine Abdeckung der Auswurföffnung war auch nötig. Ich würde die Messer weiterempfehlen.

I thought the winged blades were a gimmick. Boy was I wrong. These blades are the best blades I have ever used. They leave behind no clumps. chops the grass up into small pieces and leaves no mess. My lawn has never looked so good. Delivery took a little bit longer, but it was worth waiting for. They outperform my bagging kit, hands down. Super happy with my purchase.

excelent for mulching

First off, they left very little clumping with wet grass...I was very impressed. They fo even better dry. They mulch the grass down quite a bit...much better than the stock Craftsman blades on my riding mower. They are quite a bit heavier than stock so it could be an issue on low horsepower machines but it does say commercial grade, so it is to be expected. There are no installation instructions but if you look at the blades lift characteristics, it makes sense. In my case, it was label towards mowing deck (blank side down to ground). I would buy again.
