The best automotive repair book I've ever seen. From front to back, for each common problem, it takes a few pages to explain with simple clear drawings, the problem and how to repair it. Even if you don't do the repairs yourself, the explanations and drawingss will give you a through understanding of the problem so you aren't cheated by a mechanic.. If you read this book cover to cover, you'll understand about 95% of all car problems....you'll even be able to impress most gearheads.

Basic primer on car care good for what it does basic book !!!!

No complaints

I purchased this for my son who will be driving in a couple years. This book covers how to perform repairs that result in normal wear and tear, signs of wear, abnormal wear/abuse. This book truly is for the novice mechanic. Not a bad thing, in fact it could help a person save money by not falling for the BS some shops/dealerships tell you.

well written

You'd probably be better off buying the specific repair manual for your car. Each section is headed with a little story that I felt wasn't needed. For example, the section on passing an emissions test starts as follows: "Your car is running beautifully, and all seems right with the world. You have no trepidation whatsoever when the times comes to take it in for your state or local emmisions test. After an interminable wait in line at the station, a smiling, snappily dressed functionary shoves a probe up your tailpipe and asks you to gun it. Moments later, the inspector smiles wearily as he hands you an envelope - not a new inspection sticker, but an envelope that says FAIL in bright red letters." They should have skipped storytime and treat it like it's a book for adults instead of a pop-up book of auto repair for children. As far as the actual information goes, it's pretty general so don't expect a tremendous amount of knowledge, just the gist of doing things.

Came in good condition. Came early actually. No tears. All the pages are there. Will give it a read and see what I can salvage from the author(s).

This is a solid book for people that have a general amount of knowledge about cars. It goes in depth on the different types of systems, and is really useful.

Very helpful for a novist

Fantastic book! Nice easy reading and I love the way they set the scene at the beginning of each how-to with a little story. Really helped me to further my knowledge and I have since attempted a number of simple repairs & maintenance tasks on my own car with success.

Nice soft cover textbook size book. Picture illustrations. Very handy for beginners like myself.
