I have been completely satisfied with the performance of the Roku stick for streaming. The set up is really easy and takes just a few minutes. The menu screens are super easy to navigate once the stick is loaded. I have paid and unpaid services and this gives me so many options for television. At first I was not wanting to make the shift from cable to streaming but to my surprise I will never go back to cable television. I love streaming my favorite shows at any time of day, not having to wait for a live air show. I love that there are tons of free options to watch. I was so impressed with the ease of the Roku stick that I purchased one for my parents to test out to see if they wanted to drop cable as well!. My parents thought it was going to frustrating to navigate and get used to but the more they used it they also favored it over cable tv! I never have any issues with connectivity or loading. I would recommend for anyone wanting to convert from cable tv to streaming

Pros: Easy Setup: The setup process was quick and straightforward. The instructions were clear, and I had it up and running in no time. User-Friendly Interface: The Roku interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. Finding and installing apps like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ is a breeze. Content Selection: Roku offers a vast selection of streaming channels, ensuring that there’s always something to watch. The free Roku Channel also provides a good selection of movies and TV shows. Performance: The streaming quality is excellent. Videos load quickly, and I haven’t experienced any buffering issues, even with HD content. Affordability: The Roku Express is one of the most affordable streaming devices on the market, offering great value for the price. Cons: Remote Control: The included remote is basic and lacks some advanced features found in higher-end models. It also doesn’t have volume control or a power button for the TV, which would have been convenient. No Voice Search: Unlike more expensive Roku models, the Express lacks voice search capability, making it a bit more cumbersome to search for content. If you have a HD TV and are new to streaming, then this is the device for YOU. This is my first streaming device and I'm far from being a techie, so I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up. You just plug into the HDMI port on your TV. Now with the power USB, you can go two ways. You can either plug it into a USB port on your TV, or you can plug it into a USB wall charger (block). I chose the wall charger. Which you will have to buy separately. Luckily I already have a few on hand. Make sure your Roku device is up front. You will need to point the Roku remote at it and that won't work if you have the device behind the TV. There is an adhesive strip, included, which you can use to affix your device to your TV if you desire. I just chose to set my device in front of the TV as shown in one of my pictures. After that's all set up, you put the batteries into the Roku remote. Next, you use your TV's remote to power on your TV. Go to Input on your TV's remote and select what ever HDMI port you plugged the Roku into. It takes a little while for it to load. Be patient. Once it's loaded, it will guide you through the steps to set up your device. You will have to sign up for a Roku account. So have your smart phone on hand. If you're like me, and you have no smart phone, no problem! You can use a computer, tablet or whatever else can get you online. I had actually already signed up for an account before I even got my Roku device. So that made it quicker. I've seen some people indicate that it makes you add a credit card to your account, before you can use it. But I've found that to be false. Of course you will be directed to a page where it prompts you to add a credit card, but if you scroll all the way to the bottom of that page, you will find that there is a 'Skip this step' option. I chose to skip it. You can always go back, later on, and add a credit card if you desire. The remote is simple. It just controls the Roku device. There are no controls for your TV (Volume, Power etc...). But that really doesn't bother me. I'm used to having to use 2 remotes when I use my dvd player. So this was really no adjustment for me. All in all I'm really enjoying being able to watch movies, live TV etc... on my TV. Before, I was having to watch on my computer, in the home office, with my sister across the room playing her video games. Which could be annoying at times. Now I can watch on my bigger TV screen in the quietness of my bedroom. The only problem I had was finding my Watch List on the Pluto channel. lol Took me a while to realize that I had to go to On Demand to find my Watch List. All in all, I am very happy with this device and would recommend it. I did not rate the voice recognition, because this device doesn't have that option.

I have had a couple of Fire Stick for a few years now. I hardly ever use them except for watching videos on YouTube sometimes. I built a media server and installed Plex. I installed the Plex app on my phone, computers, and Fire Sticks. Plex works great on my phone and computers but it really seemed to struggle on the Fire Sticks. Buffering and the spinning circle thing and then it was still buggy. I started looking for an alternative to the Fire Sticks. I went shopping on Amazon. Roku devices seem to get very good reviews so I bought one. Then I bought an Android TV box at the same time, for about the same price, 30 bucks. The Roku showed up first so I installed it and installed the apps that I use. YouTube, Plex, Paramount Plus, Peacock, and Amazon Prime. The Spectrum app was already installed. OMG! What a difference between the Fire Sticks and the Roku! It is a night and day difference. Compared to the Fire Sticks the Roku Express is very fast and snappy. It does have to buffer my Plex videos right at the very beginning for about 2 seconds, then it is off and running and no more buffering. I could never even install the Spectrum app into a Fire Stick. I had to side load it, then it wanted to update itself, then it became incompatible with the Fire Stick. A very frustrating experience. This Roku came with the Spectrum app pre-installed and it works great. Almost as good as a cable box. I will get rid of one of my cable boxes now and use the Roku instead. The Android box showed up a little while later and I was already sold on the Roku, but I gave it a shot anyway. I tried to be objective and honest. Well that was a waste of time. The Android box took forever just to boot! I had already made up my mind but it sure wasn’t helping itself. After a few minutes of watching it try to boot then try to download updates unsuccessfully, I packed it back up and put it back in the box. I didn’t get very far with it. It’s going back to Amazon. The bottom line is this tiny little Roku Express packs more features and it just works better, exceeding all of my expectations. FINALLY, a product that does what it says, no excuses, and it just works. I can’t say enough good things about it. 5 stars in my book. Right now anyway. Lol I’ve had it for a day so we’ll see how long it stays snappy but so far so good. Well worth the investment IMHO, a lot of bang for the buck, and it impressed me so much that I bought a second one. UPDATE: After a week I still think they are very fast and snappy. I am very happy with them. The Roku Express does seem to be the cheap version with minimal features, but they work great. They don't seem to turn off so I take it back to the home screen then shut off the tv. When I come back I turn on the tv then hit the home button on the Roku remote to wake it up. It wakes up fast! And it is so tiny! About half the size of the remote. Amazing! 10 stars!

In Singapore not only the Roku channels aren’t available but even Amazon Prime cannot be installed as it required to be in US.

Set up was very quick and easy! QR codes used to link all apps..very convenient. Loads of free streaming options and they're great! I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality of the free streaming channels, Yoga, Pilates, Travel, Food.. so good! The only negative is that Binge is not compatible to link with Roku ☹️ Otherwise...very happy with my purchase ✌️
