🔹INTRO & DESCRIPTION🔹 I love nature and wildlife, so when I got the chance to try out and review the Adorrgon 12 x 42 compact binoculars, I was delighted. The come boxed with a range of accessories which include :- Padded case Padded neckstrap Desk tripod Tripod mount Smartphone adaptor Lens cleaning cloth Instruction leaflet & a lifetime warranty 🔹OPINION🔹 I have had many pairs of binoculars over the years ranging from low to mid price. I have never owned any of the premium top of the range binoculars. I had the perfect opportunity to try out these binoculars during the recent RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. The 12x magnification was perfect for observing the birds on my birdfeeders, and I was also able to pick up on any potential sightings lurking in my neighbours' trees and on the TV aerial. The images were crisp and clear with a good amount of light. The binoculars were comfortable to hold and not too heavy. The focusing was straightforward What I liked :- 🐦 Good clear image. 🐦 Lightweight. 🐦 Nice padded case & strap. 🐦 Good clear instruction leaflet which you don’t need binoculars to read ! 🐦 Lifetime warranty. 🐦 Protection cups on the lower end are attached to the binoculars, so less chance of losing them. 🐦 Protection cups on the top are joined, making them less likely to get lost and quicker to remove/put back. 🔹CONCLUSION🔹 I cannot think of anything negative to say about the binoculars themselves. The accessories are okay, particularly the mini tripod. I have had a go with the smartphone adapter, but didn’t get particularly pleasing results, but I will give it another try. As a birdwatcher these are ideal for either watching the birds in my garden, or taking with me on trips to hides. I am hoping to visit Leighton Moss shortly to watch the starling murmuration, and when I do, these binoculars will definitely be coming with me. They would make an ideal gift for a nature loving friend, or would make a perfect retirement gift to maybe encourage someone to get outdoors more often. I think they would be equally suited to watching sports. They are currently priced at £39, which I think is excellent value for such a capable pair of 12 x 42 binoculars. The pack comes with the binoculars, a storage pouch, a shoulder strap and cleaning cloth for the binoculars, and then all the gubbins that comprise the tripod feature for taking photos using your phone. As standalone binoculars they’re pretty decent, with good focus, comfortable to hold with a solid grip and a satisfying weight. There are two options for focus, the usual turn dial in the middle (Center Focus) and another independent turn dial on the right lens (Diopter). I really cannot fathom why it’s designed like that as the right turn dial only changes the focus of the right side. I’m sure there’s a logic but no idea what it is. On both sides of the ocular eye lens it is designed to be a twist-up eyecup, supposedly a feature for those wearing glasses. Personally, I’ve found the binoculars to be more comfortable when this eyecup is twisted out to its full extension. Problem with these is they’re far too loose and it’s too easy to push them back inadvertently. On to the tripod setup. It’s certainly quite a cumbersome process to get your phone in the right place and attached to the left lens. Yes, eventually you will achieve the optimal position and it is possible to take telescopic photos with your phone, via the binoculars. But I found the whole process to be a real pain and simply cannot see the point when you could just buy a decent pocket camera with telescopic lens. Phone cameras are handy and you can certainly take some great photos, but they’re no comparison to a simple point and shoot dedicated pocket camera - if you’re serious about photography then you already know this. The other issue with the tripod setup is it’s just not that stable and quite tricky to move the camera shot into the desired position. The slightest breeze and there is camera shake. Hardly conducive to taking zoomed in shots. If it were possible, I’d review this product in two halves: solid 4 stars for the binoculars and 2 stars for the tripod setup.

These binoculars are pretty ok. They’re rubber coated and feel good and comfortable to hold They’re compact in that they’re slim and can easily be slipped into a coat pocket The lenses seem coated but it doesn’t state this on the paper work. The lens has good clarity and definition for the price point. The field of view is very narrow as these are 12x40 To view these have telescopic eye cups which need to be extended for a very good comfortable clear viewing -perfect for these in fact. without them the eye piece will black out as you go to far or near to it. These are useful for more distant objects but the magnification power combines with the narrow field of view means you’ll require a tripod or monopod - luckily this has a screw in socket for a support and includes accessories such as a small tripod and phone mount The phone mount is great - works with an iphone 15 max and is adjustable and stable - allowing you to use any of your iPhones rear cameras though some require ‘zooming in’ for a clear full image. These aren’t that good for birdwatching in the garden or general field use as the magnification and narrow field are a problem I’d use these with a tripod for distant field use and astronomy Practika make an excellent 10x50 and a 12x50 both of which have a wider field of view and same /similar magnification power They also have a wider pupil aperture And are around the same price with nicer damping feel to the focus and diopter Overall for general use I’d recommend the Practika falcon 8x40 which I’ve included in the attached video. This I can’t really recommend unless you want to make use of the phone camera accessories for using it to photograph things - for this purpose i would absolutely recommend it.

In the old days, binos were big clunky things, we have a pair, over 50 years old, in a real leather case, from Grandad when he passed. And then we have these wee things, worlds apart, except the bit that matters - what you see through the lens. Very little difference when you look through one, and then the other. I wonder will these last 50+ years though, I hope so, everything should be built to last these days, as we have technology and knowledge to do a better job than 50 years ago... At least Adorrgon give you a lifetime warranty (lifetime pertinent to how long the company is up and running, but that goes without saying). Anyway - they look and feel robust. Not too heavy (no fun carrying a 2kg pair of binos around!) so I can literally 'pop them in my handbag' which I certainly wouldn't with the other giant pair. These are so portable, and you get a cute little tripod. The carry bag is okay, it takes the binos with strap attached but you can't fit the tripod in, would've been great if they'd made the bag just a tad bigger to accommodate the tripod for ease of use. Personally I don't like the big loud silver brand logo on the strap. The instruction manual gets a big tick because you don't have to squint or get out my magnifying glass out, first page tells you what is covered in the 'lifetime warranty'. Then 12 pages of easy to follow instructions written in good clear English. So if you've never bought a pair before, then this is a good place to start, why spend heaps of dosh on an expensive item that you'll hardly use, when you can get a pair for £35 that will do a very adequate job.

I ordered these binoculars for my family to use. We hike and do a lot of dog walks and often go camping during the warmer months. They are a great place to start, seem powerful and are suitable for our older grandchildren and adults alike. They’re not too heavy and are a lot lighter than they look. They feel nice and grippy and I can hold them easily, and keep them steady. My husband owns a much more expensive pair and I was very surprised just how little difference there was between them. I think his could zoom in a little closer but I’m talking a couple of meters, and they didn’t come with all the accessories that these come with either. They have a nice soft carry case and are fairly compact so will fit easily in a backpack. They also have a nice little tripod and phone clamp so you can take great photos of the wildlife you see. They give a very decent field of view which means I can find animals and birds and stay on them. They give a nice image with edge to edge sharpness, without any noticeable distortion. They also feel well balanced and I found them easy to focus smoothly. For this price point I’d recommend trying them. They are currently on offer too which means they are amazing value. They are simple to use for a beginner and they are suitable for older children and not overly complicated. I hope you find my review helpful.

I am getting this binoculars as this product's versatility attracted me. This item comes with the binoculars, a pouch, straps, and the tripod accessories. The binoculars is comfortable to hold, lightweight, and has clear and bright vision. It comes with two focus features. The middle dial focus adjusts the focus on both lens, and the right focus dial adjusts the focus only on the right lens, which I think is unnecessary and confusing because I sometimes accidentally adjust the right dial. The tripod with phone setup is not easy to setup especially on an iPhone 15 Pro or any modern high-end phones which usually come with 3 rear lens. The camera app on iPhones decides the lens it uses depending on the environment. When the main lens is blocked, the camera app will sometimes automatically switch the lens to other lens. This iOS feature has increased the difficulty to attach and align my phone lens with the binoculars. Once the main camera is correctly aligned with the tripod, it will get black circle around the picture on the iPhone main camera (not wide angle lens). Just need to increase the zoom length to 3x to remove the black circle on the picture. This product is currently priced at £49 at the time of review, which I think is reasonable if you appreciate the tripod with phone attachment feature. Otherwise, you can get the binoculars alone at cheaper price.
