Game changer-- must have
I don't write reviews for things I buy very often, but this little machine has changed my life so much that I have to. Whoever invented this should be nominated for the Nobel Prize. This thing is a miracle machine. My son is 20 months old and I can count the number of times that he slept through the night on one hand-- that is until about 3 weeks ago when we bought this machine. I saw the concept of an "ok to wake" alarm but was not sure if it would work for a kid as young as mine. Then I saw a review from a lady with an 18 month old who seemed to have a similar sleep pattern to my son. My son would wake up 3-4 times every night and need some degree of soothing to go back down. If he woke up after about 3-4 am (what we came to know as 'the witching hour'), there would be no hope of getting him to go deeply back to sleep and the best you could do was get him to lay down and nod off for 15 minute increments for as long as you could. That worked best with one of sleeping on the ground beside the crib. At some point, he would wake fully up, and at that point there would be no getting him back to sleep. You just had to wake up and start the day with him. We tried really hard to at least get him to 5 am, but it didn't always work. 5:30 was a stretch goal and 6 seemed like a near impossibility. Enter the hatch. I followed the procedure used by the lady whose review I read-- I set the alarm for 5:30 on the first night after having a talk with him before bed about how the red light meant it was time to sleep and green meant it was ok to wake up. When he woke up in the night, we told him over the baby monitor that the light was still red so he would need to lay down. To our surprise, he actually did after a few minutes. He whined a little bit but didn't start to cry like he normally would if we didn't go in the room. He woke up fully that morning before the light turned green and started crying out for us. Like the woman described, I reset the wake time for about 5 minutes out so he would not have to spend so long in distress. Then when the light turned green, I went in and made a big production of how the light was green so he could wake up. Each day I set the time a few minutes later until we finally got to where it is currently set-- 6:15. I'm not sure why, but he just gets it. It took a couple of weeks of him waking in the night and whining for us but going easily back to sleep when we tell him over the speaker that the red light means it's still night night time. After a few weeks of that he does it completely on his own. If he wakes up, he looks at the red light and just goes back to sleep. Most nights now he sleeps fully through the night and does not wake up until after 6. If he happens to wake up fully before it turns green, he lays down watching it until it turns green then pops up. He's sleeping so well that he's in a great mood when he wakes up. We are sleeping better than we have in a long time ourselves. The thing isn't perfect-- I find the app a little wonky thought it is reasonably easy to use. I think it's a bit difficult to change the routine or wake time while the current routine is running. When you try, it just turns the machine off. That's annoying if you are trying to make a change while he is sleeping. Some of the more advanced features like the stories and lullabies are a bit too complicated for our boy I think. We keep it simple with orange light and quiet music to wind down with books before bed, red light with the ocean sound effect for sleep (I recommend a pretty good volume) and green light to wake up (keeping the sound going so he won't be woken by the change in sound and will still sleep if his body wants to). If we start wanting to encourage him to wake up at a certain time I think I will have the sounds change to birds chirping. Long story short-- this thing changed our lives, and I just gifted one to a friend who is expecting a baby to give her the gift of sleep.

A Total Sleep Game-Changer for Our Family
We’ve been using the Hatch Baby Sound Machine, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best baby purchases we’ve made. From the moment we set it up, we were impressed. The design is beautiful and modern — the mint color is soft and calming, and it blends perfectly into our nursery decor. It doesn’t look like a typical “baby gadget,” which I really appreciate. Setup was quick and easy using the app, and the Wi-Fi connectivity has been seamless. Being able to control everything from my phone is incredibly convenient — especially during middle-of-the-night wakeups when I don’t want to fully get out of bed. I can adjust brightness, change sounds, or tweak the volume without disturbing my baby. The sound quality is excellent. The white noise is steady and soothing (no harsh looping or static), and the variety of sounds and lullabies gives us flexibility as our baby’s needs change. We’ve also started using some of the bedtime stories as part of our routine, and it’s been such a sweet addition. The night light is one of my favorite features. It’s fully customizable in both brightness and color, which makes nighttime feedings and diaper changes so much easier. We use a dim warm tone overnight and switch to a soft color during our bedtime routine. It creates a clear cue for sleep time. The Time-to-Rise feature is fantastic for the future toddler stage. Even though our little one is still small, I love knowing this will grow with them and help build independent sleep habits later on. Since using the Hatch, we’ve noticed longer stretches of sleep and smoother bedtime transitions. It has truly helped us establish a predictable, calming routine — and that has made a huge difference for the whole family. If you’re on the fence, I highly recommend it. It’s thoughtfully designed, high quality, and genuinely helpful. Five stars all the way!

Excellent for sleep at any age, easy to use, Looks great!
I was given the Hatch Rest 2nd Gen for my first baby, and thought it might be a little bit overkill. However, we have only used it more and more as our child has grown. Now for number two, I decided to upgrade to the Hatch Baby. They've made some great upgrades over the years: -night light function: you just press a button on the side and a gentle light comes on so you can nurse/change a diaper/whatever you need to do without turning on the overhead light or needing a separate lamp. You also don't need to have your phone to control this. When you're up in the middle of the night and exhausted, its super simple and super handy to have this function. (see video for functionality) -the button on top is now the control instead of a touch ring to start/stop your programmed lights. I actually like the button a bit more because you can control the on/off and the volume with it very easily (see video). As your child grows they will be able to easily operate it (more on that below). There is another button on the bottom that controls brightness. -There is now an AI sleep guide and pointers about sleep. I'm a bit of a stickler about the kid getting plenty of sleep (because that means I get plenty of sleep), and I think this product really helps you from birth to set some good groundwork for healthy sleep habits. The Hatch Baby app is easy to use, easy to make different programs for your baby (for example white light/noise for a certain number of minutes after you put them to sleep). We used temporary white noise when our first was younger, but now we use the Hatch as a night light (growing minds/imaginations seem to have more fear of the dark), and we are also using the ability to program in a 'wake-up' light to teach our child when it is time to get up (otherwise they know they can keep sleeping). Also, the versatility with colors of light (there are over 20 options) and different types of sound (from white/pink noise to rain, fan, etc) has made it so there is something to fit all of our needs (for example we started with a gentle white light, but as our child decided purple was the best color ever and was having some fear of the dark, we changed the light to purple and she instantly (no joke) went back to sleeping through the night). You can control multiple hatch products via the app very easily. To me, the look doesn't matter as much as the functionality, but I do like how sleek the product is-looks nice in any space without needing to be the focal point. Overall, I'd say I was a bit of a skeptic, but now couldn't imagine bedtime/middle-of-the-night time, etc without this product--to the point that I bought it again!

Honest Review
Been using the hatch baby for about a month now. This is my honest review. Comparing Hatch Baby with the original Hatch nightlight. 1. My most important thing when looking for a night light is touch sensitivity to find the light in the middle of the night as quickly as possible to attend to the baby , The light on the hatch baby is very user-friendly with more stable design Appearance of Hatch Baby is much more modern and cutesy. Its really adorable and my daughter loves the matted pink color. it. The different colors come in pastel versions of beige, gray, pink or green. I love that it has a digital clock feature and its mesh and matted texture feels nice. Theres a little knob on the top to hold and pick up the hatch if you need to move it around. The old hatch was shaped like a cone and had to hold it by the base to move it Effectiveness: Feel like the Hatch is brighter with the white light cover vs the meshy cover on the baby. But the ability to adjust and dim the white light is perfect since I do not always carry my ipad or phone to adjust the light setting. Touch: Love tapping the round bulb vs using fingertips to touch the metal rim of the hatch. Tap the knob once to turn on or hold for a while to turn off-- you can hear the clicking to know if youve activated on/off switch I tried linking the hatch baby to the hatch app but its currently not syncing up yet. But the fact that you can set it on auto turn off is a great plus (esp when electricity bills run sky high) for when the baby likes to tap things and forgets to turn it off all day or all night long

Our Baby’s Sleep Secret Weapon
We’ve been using the Hatch Rest since our baby was a newborn, and honestly, it’s become a non-negotiable part of our sleep routine. The brown noise is like magic - it helps drown out all the little household sounds and signals to our baby that it’s time to wind down. Now, when it’s on, she knows it’s bedtime. And honestly? It helps us sleep better too lol, but be careful in the very beginning with a new born - we slept TOOOO good due to lack of sleep and were lucky my mom was there to feed & change her because we were dead to the world. What we love: • The sounds are soothing - brown noise is our go-to, but there are lots of options if you want to switch things up. • App control is a lifesaver. I love the option of being able to adjust the volume, light, or turn it on/off from our phone means no tiptoeing into the nursery and being able todo it while rocking baby to sleep. Of course with conveniency there comes a price, which is a monthly subscription lol. • The brightness is adjustable which is good • It grows with your child. We haven’t used the OK-to-wake clock yet, but it’s nice to know it’ll still be useful once we’re out of the baby stage. • Reliable and easy to use. Once it’s set up, it’s very plug-and-play. We have a schedule set and rarely think about it - which is a huge win in the fog of early parenting. What could be better: • The app isn’t always perfect. Sometimes it’s slow to connect, or it randomly logs us out. When you’re holding a half-asleep baby and trying to turn down the volume quickly, this can be super annoying. • Sometimes when you go to touch it to turn it on or off it’s a little wonky, but for the most part it’s pretty spot on. • It’s pricey. If you’re on a budget, you can get a basic white noise machine for a lot less. But the Hatch’s features do add convenience. At the end of the day, this little machine is on every night (and every nap), and we truly rely on it. Yes, it has quirks, but the good far outweighs the bad. If you’re building a sleep routine, this can be a real game changer.

Love it!
I had high expectations and it did not disappoint!! The app control is the standout feature. Being able to adjust the light color, brightness, and sound volume from my phone without cracking the door open and risking waking the baby is worth every penny on its own. We use a dim red light during night feeds so I can see what I'm doing without fully waking either of us up. The sound quality is really good! We use the white noise and rain settings most, but there are enough options to find what works for your baby. Setup was straightforward, the app is intuitive, and the device has been completely reliable (no connectivity drops, no glitches). A little bonus: the aesthetics. Even the smallest details are considered, like the power plug, which feels unnecessary but somehow makes me like it even more.

Highly Recommend!
This is our fourth Hatch product and it did not disappoint. I love the button on top. It works great to turn on and off the sound machine and adjust the sound level quickly. It’s really helpful to be able to use the app to set it and then turn it on from your phone if need be as well. I like all the options of lights and different variations of brightness. This has been a great feature with a toddler who wants a light on at night and being able to set a green light on for when it is time to get up in the morning has worked great! Would highly recommend!

Worth the cost, love how customizable it is.
This is a great night light. I like how many different light settings it has. There are also TONS of different sounds and songs! I appreciate how many different white noise sounds there are because some are higher pitched than others, and we personally like brown noise because it's a little lower pitch. There's also ones like rain, fan, washing machine/dryer, heartbeat, etc. You can set favorite programs and choose how long you want each favorite to last. We start with 30 min of bright red light w/ brown noise, then it transitions to a low red light with a little bit quieter brown noise, then just infinite brown noise. They also have wake up alarms/schedules. Theres also a section on the app called "sleep help" that gives you sleep guides based on your baby's age. Overall i think this was a great purchase and for us it was worth the money. I was torn between this and a cheaper, more simplistic version by momcozy. I ultimately pulled the plug on this one because of how customizable it is and it has a digital clock. My only gripe is that the button on top doesn't always want to press, and the clock light sometimes doesn't turn off. It is not super portable, as it needs to be plugged in to use. I do plan on bringing it with us on vacation for the hotel room so that shouldnt be a problem.

We loved it so much we bought a second one
We have been using the Hatch Sound Machine for our toddler since the day he was born, and it has been such a staple in our home that we recently purchased a second one for our baby who is due soon. One of the biggest advantages is that everything is connected through Bluetooth and controlled through the app. The app is very user-friendly and intuitive, even if you’re not tech-savvy. There are many free sounds to choose from, and I love that you can save favourites with the exact volume and light colour you want. For sleep, we use white noise with a red light, and we have it scheduled so that at a certain time in the morning the light turns green and calm music plays. This has been amazing for helping our toddler understand when it’s time to sleep and when it’s okay to get up. It’s made mornings much smoother for everyone. Another feature we really appreciate is being able to control both sound machines through the same app. It’s so convenient to adjust volume, sounds, or lighting without needing to go into the room and risk waking a sleeping child — something you can’t easily do with many similar products. If you prefer not to use the app, the buttons on the back work perfectly fine as well. My toddler is even able to use it independently now that he’s out of the crib — tapping the top ring to turn it on and holding it to turn it off. Overall, this sound machine has been reliable, easy to use, and incredibly helpful for establishing sleep routines. We’ve had ours for years and it’s still working perfectly. Highly recommend, especially for families with young children.

Love it.
Always wanted to get one with my first baby. I got to get one with second and absolutely love it. Being able to see the clock is brilliant. Still figuring things out as it arrived today but so far so good. My newborn slept within seconds each nap. Also thanks for quick delivery 🙌🏼
