Nifty tool!
Held off reviewing this tool for a while, but I put it through its paces. It isn't a durable tool, but it holds up to use - don't drop it, don't bang it around, keep it in it's case when not in use, and it should last a while. It has been handy for spotting malfunctioning electronic components on circuit boards, identifying overheating components in electrical cabinets, spotting nesting underground wildlife in colder months by looking for hotter ground compared with surrounding soil temps, and visualizing hot and cold spots in all manner of items. It's easy to use, and has been a tool my coworkers envy. I've probably loaned it out more than I have used it, and it has held up - but I also don't loan it out to fools or idiots. Be gentle with it, and it should last. The app could use a little work, but is adequate.

I've owned a few phone thermal cameras but this is the best image quality by far for the outdoors
So I've had the FLIR and the Seek (would constantly fail after about 6 months) for my phone and I have a full truck mounted FLIR ($20K) to compare with and this InfiRay is really an excellent product. The auto gain and image is very crisp and actually rivals the $20k truck mount in picture quality but obviously doesn't have all the bells and whistles like remote control gimbal, auto stabilization, data overlay, PC interface etc. The app works well and doesn't crash. It's far superior to the Seek or FLIR. The angle of view is narrow so it's better for things further away and isn't really well suited for walking around in the dark and the with the narrow view you may trip over stuff or walk into a branch. But most of the phone mounted thermal cameras are pretty narrow. In the picture above I was about 150 yards from the subjects in pitch black. My truck mounted FLIR is much wider and I can see a wider view and even drive in the dark. But when I see something of interest, I then use the InfiRay to get more zoomed in detail. It's more expensive than the other offerings but totally worth it as the other phone cameras have such a muddy low res picture they are almost unusable for anything other than seeing if water as saturated your drywall or where the heat is coming from under your refrigerator. For outdoor use like wildlife and surveillance this is the way to go. This is really $20K FLIR image quality just without all the other bells and whistles. I'm so happy I purchased this as I've been looking for something like this for years.

Inadequate Customer Service
Purchased this item in Oct 2023. The item worked accordingly when I wiggled the cable connection. It appeared loose. I told them I was satisfied with the imaging, not the connection. I signed up for the 2 year extended warranty. When I notified customer support and explained the problem, they requested a better explanation and asked me to connect the device to the phone directly= same issue, I need the cable connected. Then they requested photos. I asked; how can I, in a photo, show a loose connection? It was either the cable or the device. I gave them time to response and informed them that I would write this review. After that, I have not heard back from them. Like I said, the product imaged accordingly however, without a proper and functional connection, it is just junk.

Great hardware, poor software
The current software version that you would download from Google Play store would not work with a Samsung s22. It will give you a continuous spinning circle at startup. I had to find an old version of the software from 2023 and download it to my phone. The app you need is called "Xinfrared". Once I did that this thing performs flawless and it is unreal how great the technology is for the money.

Works great with Samsung Note 20 Ultra.
My friend has a $6k thermal binocular and I didn't want to spend that amount of money. This came in at around 400 and that was what I was looking for. I'm using it with my Samsung Note 20 Ultra and it works great. No connection issues and the images are as good has his 6k but I don't have the ridiculous range he does. Then again, I don't need to see a mouse at 800 yards. I can see mice at 200 yards and that's fine. So far I've used it around the house to confirm my 5 chest freezers are working (can see the coils glowing), what critters are 150 feet away at my chicken coop at night (coons, mice, and opossums), and coyotes and deer out in the field across the street. Apart from real needs for it I find it's just a blast to play with. Some things of note: 1) with my UAG case on my phone I can't plug the sensor directly into my charging port. No problem as I find the hand-held 'holder' more than functional. 2) I'm glad the Android app allows for 180 degree rotation of the image as mine was initially upside-down because of how I orient my phone. 3) overall the app is good and does what it needs to do. 4) I found that my 10-foot USB-C extension cable works so I can prop the thermal up on a table and sit a distance away. When I want to see what made the noise out in the dark I just switch from YouTube or whatever I'm watching back to the app and boom... the camera's image is on the screen. In all, I have no complaints about this. I have not noticed any additional battery drain and it has never crashed. I recommend this : - )

This little camera coupled with phone software isn’t far behind devices I’ve paid thousands for.

It's pretty awesome! I love it, It works well at medium to close range. I use it for work (on aircraft for electrical) and going looking for wildlife. Here is it next to an MX15 belly mounted multi purpose EO?IR camera
