how many additional modules can you add that effectively filter to the 900?

I would have a total count of no more than 4 models on each filter , but the 900's impeller pumps at a greater flow rate 4 would be a maximum the magnets would hold properly

Would 2 or 3 of the 900 model be enough for a heavily stocked 110 gallon aquarium? I would also have 2 large sponge filters.

Yes 2 of the 900s would do just fine but i would still add at least 1 sponge filter somewhere in the tank

Will this work in a 40 gallon with fancy goldfish and do you just rinse the foam filters out or do you need to replace them ?

I would assume so I have all three attachments for my 70 gallon and it works fine I have that tank full of fancy goldfish and other fish

Has anyone tried this filter?

I personally love this filter, its super quiet , keeps my water crazy clear with all the sponges in the filter and does a great job doing what it was designed to do, although i found myself not using the venturi system and i instead find myself loving the spray bar on the top of the housing. Its totally worth the price but pe patient with the magnets cause they do only go 1 way due to magnets being well...lol magnets
