It's made of metal, maybe 1//8 of an inch thick. It came with 2 straps with buckle and 2 long straps with no buckle. There are no instructions so I just had to go by the product picture. Apparently i''m supposed to wrap the long strap around my leg and the spike then tie a know? I just made shorter ones and added a buckle. I haven't used it yet but these have the same exact design as the more expensive ones. I know people are freaking out about the zip ties but the newer ones are thicker. There are already holes there so you can replace the zip ties with whatever you want. Personally all the zip ties are there only to keep your legs on the spikes. It's not needed to hold your weight so I think it's sufficient.

Very sharp and heavy duty, but comfortable - can only use for about an hour. Very heavy and you will need to add a bit more padding. Shorter legged people like me will have a hard time using these. Good value for the price but if you need to be in the tree for a while, upgrade to lighter ones.

Ouch! These things are uncomfortable. Bruised my shin/calf through my pants. I cut some yoga mat foam and wrapped around my chin over my pants. This helped but still. The little shin guard connection is very uncomfortable. Needs more surface area at the top connection of the spurs.

Easy to use and stays put.

Calling this absolute junk in my first review got it not published, but that's the truth so I'll keep trying
