"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. "These deceptively simple lines from the title poem of this collection suggest Robert Frost at his most representative: the language is simple, clear and colloquial, yet dense with meaning and wider significance. Drawing upon everyday incidents, common situations and rural imagery, Frost fashioned poetry of great lyrical beauty and potent symbolism. Now a selection of the best of his early works is available in this volume, originally published in 1916 under the title Mountain Interval. Included are many moving and expressive poems: "An Old Man's Winter Night," "In the Home Stretch," "Meeting and Passing," "Putting In the Seed," "A Time to Talk," "The Hill Wife," "The Exposed Nest," "The Sound of Trees" and more. All are reprinted here complete and unabridged. Includes a selection from the Common Core State Standards Initiative: "The Road Not Taken." Review: look at the price - It is easy to order this, for a couple of dollars, add it to the shelf. It is a great intro for those interested in well known poems. I had a request from my daugher for books on poetry - there are a few in this series, for similar prices and the experience in these, for my daughter, is priceless. It is more affordable to order these books than to copy or print them off. No brainer if you are looking at this. All a gain. Review: the length of the book is perfect to get a quick glimpse of Frost's work - Bought for a young child who is just beginning to study poetry, the length of the book is perfect to get a quick glimpse of Frost's work. I do wish it included Mending Wall and Stopping by the Woods, but for the price it's a great little survey of a beloved American poet.

An interesting short book of poetry by Robert Frost.
I have loved all kinds of poetry most of my life, with the exception of modern free verse poetry forms. This Dover Thrift Edtion has a number poems, both rhymed lyrics and blank-verse dialogues by Robert Frost, an American writer (1874-1963). Even though I am not a great fan of Robert Frost and do not like some of his long blank-verse dialogue poems; nevertheless, I do like many of his poems. One of his most famous poems, "The Road Not Taken" is the title and first poem in this collection. The 56 page volume includes the following poetry collections of Robert Frost: The Road Not Taken, Christmas Trees, An Old Man's Winter Night, A Patch of Old Snow, In the Home Stretch, The telephone, Meeting and Passing, Hyla Brook, The Oven bird, Bond and Free, Birches, Pea Brush, Putting in the Seed, A time to Talk, The Cow in Apple time, An Encounter, Range-Finding, The Hill Wife: (The Loneliness-Her word, House Fear, The Smile-Her Word, The Oft-Repeated Dream, The Impulse), The Bonfire, A girl's Garden, The Exposed Nest, Out, Out-, Brown's Descent or The Willy-Nilly Slide, the Gum-Gatherer, The Line-Gang, The Vanishing Red, Snow, and The sound of Trees. In conclusion, if you are a fan of the poetry of Robert Frost, you will enjoy this collection. Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Haiku Moments: How to read, write and enjoy haiku)

A great addition to my poetry collection.
A lovely collection of poems by one of my favorite poets! A great addition to my poetry collection. You simply cannot go wrong with a book of poetry by Robert Frost. And who doesn't love "The Road Not Taken"? Not to mention that reading and studying poetry is a wonderful intellectual activity for a rainy day (or sunny day, for that matter).

Very handy introduction to Frost's works
I always loved "The Road not taken" so I bought 2 copies of this little thing for each of my children. Would have been nice, had it had "Traveling through woods.." also, but I suppose, if they catch on to Frost, they'll be able to find it, themselves.

Great book at a amazing price
One of my favorite poets of all time. I can't believe I got this for less than $3 as it has some of his best work in this book. One of the greatest of our time and a must read for any poetry or nature love!

Bought this for a little culture, found a passion.
Deep and thoughtful poems on everything from old memories to the human condition. Some of the poems are reminiscent of having a conversation, remembering wanting to say something and yet never saying anything only to remember you wanted to say it earlier. Other poems feel almost conversational about the history of relationships. Great poems.

Lovely poem...lovely book
Bought as a gift for my daughter's bridesmaid after she recited the title poem, one afternoon, as we sat around drinking Pimms just days before the wedding. When I gave it to her, for her birthday, she was thrilled as it contained many poems that she'd not read before. She can't remember her rendition...probably too much Pimms

Great Collection
I liked this collection, although not all the poems in it appealed to me. Some of my all time favorites are in here though! The formatting is a little wonky, but what poetry book isn't these days?

Bob Frost!

Georges Duquin
