Living in a condo with a range hood that can't vent outside used to be a real nightmare – even frying eggs would fumigate the whole apartment! This filter has been an absolute life-saver for us. It dramatically reduces the smell and smoke, preventing it from spreading into our bedrooms, which is a massive improvement for our air quality. What's also fantastic is how easy it was to cut this filter to the perfect size for our hood. The material feels strong and good quality, and it functions exceptionally well. Less expensive than constantly buying new pre-cut filters, and the convenience of being able to trim it to whatever size you need is a huge plus, especially with older, non-standard hoods. Great product for my under the micowave exhaust fan. Now it removes odors where before it removed steam.

I installed the carbon filter in my intake vent, and it help to filter some of the particles that enter into my venting system.

I only realized a week ago that my air conditioner was what was causing my allergies to be so bad in my apartment. I have one of those built into the wall units (it looks like the ones that are usually in the window). It has a "filter" in it but it's an extremely thin one that I have to clean out regularly. I cleaned it out the day before I ordered this, and I came to amazon in search of a filter when I realized it did nothing. This was easy to install (just cut to the size of your filter). And I could tell a difference in less than a day. Normally I would have to shut off the air conditioner when I went to bed as I'd wake up horribly stuffed up and unable to go back to sleep. One night with this filter in, and other than an occasional sneeze (once or twice a day), I have no allergy problems. For those of you considering buying this, if your AC doesn't have a filter option other than the "clean and dry" mesh sieve mine has, I recommend getting this. I will hopefully remember to update exactly how long it took before I needed to replace it, but the packaging says every 3-6 months.

Purchased so I can custom cut carbon filters for my small recycling bin and refrigerator, much cheaper than buying the brand name filters.

There's not enough room in the design of my heating/cooling system to hold filters to add anything. I put it on my furnace OUTSIDE the intake vents, facing the laundry / mud room to intercept smells and large particles of dust from outside that will clog up my way-too-expensive fine particle filters. Every week, I take it to my patio and place it in direct sunlight for a couple of hours to help revive the filter, ending up with a brush down with a lint roller. It doesn't say it has "activated" charcoal, but it works better after the sunlight heat bath. I was ready to fold it to make it thicker, but I didn't want to put more stress on my air system engine and I found I didn't need to! The inside filters were equally clean on both sides. When I opened my mail today I found a hand written thank you note from the seller. This is my return thank you for a great product, but most of all for taking the time to wish me well. I see from the other reviews that they have also found that this filter gives us the ability to be creative and take better care of our homes and our health. And the thank you note reminded me how important it is to be kind and positive and grateful. And I am so glad that someone has decided to start a business with a product that really works. And for Amazon to let us all participate in the process. What an American idea!!!

Good product

I cut strips approximately 7” long and attach them to the DUCT side of my JennAir down-draft metallic fat filters (15-1/2” x 5-1/2” that I also buy on Amazon). The flap sits on the bottom of the down draft box and holds the filter in place. I just use two 14g copper wire “staples” to secure the fabric to the metal filter. This keeps more of the fat from escaping into the duct and cuts down on the “wet dog” retrograde smell from a duct running through a crawl space. I wash the metal filter and change the fabric once a month when I change the furnace filters. IMPORTANTLY, the thickness of this brand does not seem to put excessive stress on the fan motor.

Great that they’re long and you can cut to size, but I don’t find that they last as long as other composted filters

I couldn't find filters for my CPAP machine (out of stock). I used this . 10cm X 10cm piece with 2 rubber bands. it worked for me. try under your own risk because it is medical equipment.
