What 'moves us all'
The Lion King is one of the greatest cinematic achievements of our time. The message is universal, the music inspiring. Creating this masterpiece was an endeavor well merited for reverence; the eternal message that we are all one, each one of us connected by the great circle of life is enlightening, inspiring, and intrinsic to remembering who we are and who we are together. This movie resonates with anyone and everyone who innately feel connected to the life of this world, to every creature, every plant, every organism, to the very breath of life. This movie is a reminder to never forget who we truly are and to recognize, to embrace our place in this world. With a splash of humor that both adults and children can appreciate and a message of true love and infallible friendship this movie satisfies all endearing elements of a masterpiece. The Lion King is full of witty lines which are also educational such as when Zazu tells Mufasa that the elephants remember, they couldn't forget - elephants are revered for being unique to the animal kingdom for their capacity to remember things over long periods of time- or when Scar says it's the lioness' job to do the hunting, that's true, in the wild the female lions are the one's that hunt and bring back food for their pride. You can never go wrong with the humor of Timon and Pumbaa whose comedic genius brighten the movie with witty jokes that keep you laughing. There's always the infinite wisdom of Rafiki that resonates within the heart of us all when he reminds Simba that, "you don't even know who you are." Mufasa teaches Simba that, "you must take your place in the great circle of life...you have forgotten who you are and so have forgotten me... remember who you are. Remember. Remember. Remember." This story is inspiring, enlightening, humorous, and universal. I'm sure it's message will permeate this universe for ever. I have yet to meet a person who does not appreciate this movie, and if you have yet to experience this masterpiece for yourself you are in for delightful entertainment that can only be delivered by a Disney Classic, a Disney Masterpiece. Enjoy.

I simply cannot believe how beautiful this version is
The movie itself is a timeless classic and I don't feel the need to talk about plot itself. It's great, and it became even better experiencing it again as an adult. But the real highlight of this version is the visuals. I cannot state enough just how beautiful this movie is in 4k HDR. The best way to describe it would be like watching a painting come to life, hop off the wall and then start dancing in front of you. It's a living painting. And if you have any experience whatsoever as an artist, this movie is a transcendental experience. You are able to make out all the pencil and brush work, and the colors are vibrant and powerful. I could rant about how good it looks for hours, but I'm going to cut this short and just ramble at my coworkers about how good it looks, even though I'm sure none of them know what 4k even is. This movie is absolute perfection, aside from the fact that when you pause the movie, a stupid indicator of where you are appears in the corner of the screen - which sucks, because I REALLY wanted to just pause and stare at the screen as if it were a painting - because most scenes in this movie are. 11/10, slightly upset that I'm going to be spending a LOT of money buying more Disney animation.

It was all great! But there is a problem with the Personality Profile Quiz in the Bonus Features.
I thought that having this version of The Lion King was great. I loved the new song that they updated into it, called "The Morning Report." A lot of the Bonus stuff was great, too. I enjoy exploring a lot of it. Except that, even though I checked it out in excited curiosity, too, I didn't like a lot of how the Personality Profile went. I love Personality Profiles, by the way. I am a fan of them. I think they're fun! It's fun to put people in a box as best as you can, but this Personality Profile was way off. Even with how Zazu describes you at the end, if you are most like a character that he has pasted as stars in the sky. And the Personality Profile doesn't have near enough Personality questions in it, either, to get you very accurately. Having lots and lots of questions in one game instead of just a few is the only way that you can come up with a very accurate assessment. That is what I know. The more questions are asked about what you are, that you try your best to answer, then the better and more accurately that this game that you play can put you in a box. It should also ask you and have you check off with your remote control with what you most, 2nd most, third most, etc., balanced between, and least are. And it should at least have about 100 Personality questions, to be so extremely accurate. And Zazu should have a lot more says for what you are, at the end, where he can even say a lot more what whatever is all that you checked off means that you all together correctly are. He even exaggerates how bad you are, on the one where you are most like Scar. Just because somebody tends to have a lot of the same problems that he does, doesn't mean that they are near as bad as him. Scar was like the devil! He was a Hitler in a lion's body. Besides, many people out in the World in many different ways tend to be bossy, unfeeling, impatient, intolerant, you name it, but it doesn't mean that most of them are near as bad as Scar. He was the most extreme version of it. So, I find a huge complaint about how bad that Zazu described that I was, when I averaged up at times on it to being most like Scar. I most definitely am not near as evil as Scar. I'm even a Christian, for Heaven's sake! But once I pick a lot of the Choleric type answers in the Personality questions that he asks me, Zazu (who narrates it) first calls me a bunch of names, and says that "I have an obsessive desire to rule the World, and that I didn't care what it would take to get there." Then he tells me that I am a huge troublemaker. Even to the law. Then he says that I deserve to be locked up, then says that I am most like Scar. It was not very nice of him. I averaged out to being most like Nala a few times, too, and a few times being most like Timon. But the way he described me then, too, was mostly definitely not me, and also some of it was even an exaggeration of how my answers mean that I am like. So, even how Zazu describes you at the end of the test is not very accurate, no matter who he says that you are most like. And I find that as a big complaint! And not only the questions it does ask, it should also ask what you from most to least are in the whole list of Personality Types that even come out of the four basic ones, called "Melancholy, Choleric, Phlegmatic, and Sanguine." And if it did do it that way, then it should have two seperate levels in the same game, which is where one is all your Personality Strengths, and the other one is all of your Personality Weaknesses. Then Zazu can be able to tell you at the end who you are most like in the Strengths, and who you are most like in the Weaknesses. This Personality Profile needs a whole lot of improvements. So, I wish that whoever put out this special addition would do it in the way that I wish that they would. If they did, then it would be so much more awesome and exciting. And I wish that every movie released out there would have a huge Personality Test on it, in the way here that I said that I wanted them to be like, to even tell me who in the movie that I am most like in the Strengths, and who I am most like in the Weaknesses. Also, on this, I find it a complaint, too, that the Personality Test couldn't be quiet. I didn't like it very much that there was a repeatitive stupid jungle music on all of it, and that Zazu had to name out all of the questions on the page, when anybody who reads it can read.

So good it demands a Blu-Ray Player despite being a mortal DVD!
I love this movie so much I bought it on Blu-Ray of the 4 Disc Diamond Edition. There are some things I like better about this edition though, which include on a qualified player you can get near Blu-Ray quality out of the DVD without some of the funky choices they made for the Blu-Ray (green zebra stripes during I Just Can't Wait to Be King, anyone?) I literally saw how good a job they did on most things on this edition when properly able to play, and I'm ALMOST embarrassed to buy the Blu-Ray (but then again, when you get it so right overall this time around, why not reward Disney for a job so well done it would take a late 2016 Blu-Ray Player for it to really show itself off. As for the movie, I'm going to wait until the verified purchase comes in before I tell you about this movie. ;-0 The Four Disc Diamond Edition-I can't say enough good things about it. I bought it and find it can pick up where I'm at in the movie when I go from my Mac laptop (which I use most of the time) to any of the other computers, and when I need the ultimate in portability with HD picture quality I can play it on my iPad. I never have more than 2 devices on the Internet and playing The Lion King from the Diamond Edition's digital copy @ once, so I can have a choice of which machines are turned on and able to use it. If you don't pay the $60 roughly for this Four Disc Diamond Edition brand new, or you don't get what that is supposed to be, you deserve better. One person bought this and got something worthless and I feel sorry for him I say because when I ordered it, I got a brand new never opened fully legal DVD with digital copy code and it just worked. If you get what I got, it's a steal for $60. If you get had, you deserve to complain and I sure don't mind hearing it. The Blu-ray Disc played perfectly and I'll need the 3D TV to play the 3D movie. I'm glad this movie can grow with me! And I wound up being so happy with it I bought a second copy of the verified purchase for someone special-just who it is depends on who @ all wants it the most. I like being able to share what moves a guy like myself. And since I had an unresolved question about the 1994 edition, I fixed up both VCR bearing devices, bought the VHS tape, and finally got the chance to see the credits as they were when I saw the movie minus the credits (Momma had some crucial appointment that day) and the credits were flubbed on the 2003 Special/Platinum Edition AND the 2011 Diamond Edition, and that's one of the biggest gripes movie updates can give.

Exactly what I expected
One of my favourite Disney movies and as others have stated - a classic. I purchased the VHS tape a few years before I even had kids! And I'm by no means a Disney fanatic. A bit nervous ordering the DVD though based on reviews here of getting the wrong movie. But needed it urgently for last minute audition practice (my VHS tape not a viable option) and couldn't find it in brick and mortar stores or anywhere else that could get it to me as fast (annoyed that kids today have limited access to a such a great movie). Ordered and received within twelve hours. Exactly as described, works perfectly. Thank you!

Such a good film! All time great!
This has to be the best Disney film going! I loved it so much, the animations are incredible, the story is brilliant and the twists in it are so heartbreaking. I won’t spoil it for anyone that hasn’t seen it but when the big moment happens you’re so invested in the characters that it’s genuinely so upsetting and I’m not sure I’m over it even now. The amount of big names voicing the characters is amazing but actually not long in to the film you forget who the ‘celebs’ are and you’re totally engrossed in and believe in the characters instead! The quality of the footage on Blu-ray is next level. Amazing film, one of the all time greats.
