Do you have to use an app to make these work like the bose nch?

I read you download an app for your phone. The set I bought is a Christmas gift for my son, so I can only tell you what I read, as I don’t have personal experience with the WH-1000XM4. I hope that helps.

In the bundle picture I see a cord for connecting to an amp or guitar.Is that included, because no mention in the description?

That is not a cord to connect to an amp. Thats a small 3.5mm for the headphones incase you don't/can't bluetooth to your device. The other is the USB-C charging cable.

This is a new product but it's Sony, not Apple, so it carries Sony's warranty.

I need this headphones for calls at work. Is the microphone good?

No. I've had these headphones for about a year and constantly get compliments that people cannot hear me well over phone calls. The headphones themselves are incredible, the microphone is atrocious.
