Weruva Wx Phos Focused, Chicken Formula in Gravy 3oz Can, Pack of 12

As our CKD kitty neared the end, she stopped eating the foods she always ate, she had never been finicky before. We were trying everything. I would find a food that she would eat for a while (each time realizing it had less phospherous than its predecessor) until it bothered her too and I would have to find something else. Prescription K/D mixed with water was the last food she gave up on before we stumbled across Weruva WX. Once we found it, she ate the WX with gusto, and actually put a good amount of weight on. WX kept her going for another few months, before she got sick enough to let me know it was time, refusing everything. WX is very expensive, but I wonder if I had found it earlier, the ultra-low phosphate would have bought her even more time.Chicken in hydrating puree was her favorite choice overall. When she got tired of that, the Tilapia and chicken flavors worked for a day or two, then I'd have to cycle her back to the puree. She would also eat the chicken in gravy for a longer period, but the long strands of chicken in it were hard for her to eat, so I'd have to pull them out, chop them up fine, and mix them back in. I had to use the same chopping process on the tilapia flavor. I had to offer small portions of the tilapia, I guess it smelled bad to her fast, she wouldn't eat leftovers later, even if fresh was mixed in with it. She would come back and it the leftovers of either of the chicken-only varieties.Oddly, she flat refused the Tilapia and Tuna flavor every time.I miss her so much

My 8-year-old cat likes a lot of Weruva foods, but he especially loves this Weruva Wx Phos Focused, Chicken Formula in Gravy.He will eat more of this can at a time than he will most other foods, which is great, because it has a very high moisture content and is good for his kidneys and urinary tract. The "gravy" is more like a broth; it's not sticky or thick like gravy, it's thinner without any thickening ingredients. He loves the flavor so much that I can even add a little extra water to eat and he'll still eat it.The chicken is a pulled consistency. It's like little thin strips. These strips are pretty easy for him to eat, although he does sort of lick them a lot until he gets the chicken closer to the edge of the plate and finally bites the pieces rather than lick them. It can get a little messy when he licks the chicken and it goes off the plate, but he's a messy eater in general, so I don't really think this is the food's fault.I tried the other Wx Phos focused flavors, and he didn't like those as much. I'm sure it depends on your cat's specific tastes. I'll continue to buy this one. I've already fed him almost 24 cans over the course of a month or two, and he continues to love it.This food is great for preventing kidney damage because of its high moisture content (like most canned foods) and its low phosphorus content. High phosphorus diets are associated with kidney damage. This is not a prescription food, but it still contains phosphorus in amounts under AAFCO standards. Consult your veterinarian if you are going to feed this food as a major part of your cat's diet. Otherwise, it is perfectly healthy to feed your cats when fed with other foods, because most cat foods have high amounts of phosphorus.

My 18 yo cat came down with food allergies and he has CKD. I’m so grateful this food doesn’t trigger his allergies and he can eat it safely. He’s allergic to fish and many foods mix fish in - this one doesn’t and Rocket is feeling so much better. All of my 4 other cats love it too which is a definite win!

We tried several different brands and flavors and our senior kidney disease cat would have no part of any of them. We tried all the flavors of the Weruva brand, and she loved, loved, loved the shredded chicken. She has never tired of it. Cleans the plate each meal. So grateful for this company as we help our cat to live a longer and healthier life. We were running out of options on what to feed her and that she would eat, digest and love eating.

One of the only low phosphorus foods my boy will eat. It’s very hard to find Kidney friendly foods that don’t have meat by product in it and that picky cat will eat.

What's the point of this food? As per the (barely readable) label - it's not a balanced food - only for intermittent or supplemental feeding. Too much trouble to create a balanced food that my CKD cat can eat? What a joke. Skip it.

nothing wrong with the food and it helps with the kidney issue. just hard to get a cat to like it

When my cat (RIP my little kitty) had to be on a special diet for her liver this was the only food she was willing to eat. It's not technically the styles the vet said to get which I guess are regulated and can only be bought with a prescription or something. But when I told my vet she wouldn't eat those and she would eat this they said it was fine.
