22C-36 Nylon Coated Rod

This is a great product. Protect your rifles from scratches. Holds up to solvents well. Strong, you can really put some force on it when you patch is a little too big, where the cheap brass rods will bend or break at the threads. You will have to devise a system to hold your rod. If you lean it up against the bench it wants to roll away. The screwdriver handle has a very loose nonfiction bearing in it. I liked it so much that I bought one in a longer length, and a skinny one for air rifles and my .17s. I bought the long one for long barrel rifles. I like to have the length so the handle sits back behind the action, when working from the breach end. YMMV

Finally ... after trying all of the Tipton rods I found one that works as advertised. The Tipton rods are good in the basic idea but they all have a fatal flaw: They are too thick for the minimum caliber they are advertised for. The .22 rod will NOT fit down a .223 Rem barrel and the same is true for the other ones. This one comes with a sleeve so you can fit Tipton or other jags and it also comes with a .22 jag that is better engineered than the Tipton Jags. Tipton jags are too short and the bunching swatch cannot fold into enough slim area at the base of the jag because it is too short so you always need to use a Tipton jag that is one or two sizes smaller than advertised. The jag included with this rod does have a long enough slim area at the base where the wings of the swatch can fold into and you do not have to force the jag/rod through your barrel. THis rod together with the Possum Hollow bore guides are the perfect combo to clean your rifle without risk of marring the barrel, chamber or muzzle.

To me it is a very good one piece cleaning rod. I purchased the 22 caliber I use it up to 33 cal. No problem whatsoever. It has ball bearings so the rod spins freely within the handle. You will not be disappointed and it has a coating over the rod so you will not damage the chamber even the muzzle end if you are cleaning a lever action.

The Dewey rod is the best cleaning rod for an AR 223. I have two one for my 223 and another for my 308. They both are over 20 years old and they are as good as new. The coated rod does'nt scratch the chrome lining of the chamber. In addition the one piece rod never breaks like the cheap 4 piece aluminum rods in the normal cleaning kits. You will only buy one during your lifetime!!

I bought this for my .22lr. The rod was too big, and got stuck in the barrel. When I got it out I could see the rifling on the nylon coating, so I know that it was not just the Jag. It will work on my .243, but be ware that it will not fit in a .22lr. Other than that it is a great rod, bearings allow it to spin freely.

I’ve used most of the major names and Dewey rods are by far the best. Durable as heck. Strong. Jags and loops are durable as well. You can hammer them through a tight bore with no problem. I’ve had a couple of Dewey’s for over 20 years and they’re still good.

I really like Dewey Rods ever since I bought my first one many years ago. It's nice to see some things not change over time. When you got it right you got it right. I ordered one rod a few weeks ago and decided to order another rod about a week later. The rod that came in was bent pretty bad but I did an exchange and got the replacement rod quickly without any hassle. Very happy with the company.
