Can this silica sand be used in an outdoor natural gas fire pit?

I'm not an expert, but I believe the sand's heat properties allow it to be used in kilns. Personally, I just used its weigh properties to help deaden audio speaker stands. It is a very white color and aesthetically pleasing, but an extremely fine sand so it gets everywhere. I'd be concerned it would contaminate the gas lines or equipment if they're in close proximity to the sand.

Is this clean enough to be used as a filtrate in a laboratory setting?

This sand is clean and pure by foundry standards, but some foreign material could be introduced during shipping/processing or even during the mining stage (small windblown seeds, small bits of dirt, etc that can pass the screening process). Of course we go to great lengths to prevent any contamination and even handle it on machines that are intended for food processing but I wouldn't call it lab grade.

It would depend on how thick you want/need it.

Is this used for drying flowers

I don't believe this product is for drying flowers. I'm using it for fused glass projects. Flowers are dried with Silica Gel.. Search for ACTIVA Silica Gel for Flower Drying 1.5 Pound.
