Review: Exactly the high level of quality you’d expect - As a long time hi-fi and home theater guy, I’ve had limited experience with pro audio. When I went passive sub/external amplification on my large format home theater sub, which is dedicated to infrasonic and the bottom octave (-6dB @ 80Hz w/LR 48dB/octave), I needed connectors that fit a Behringer NX2000. Thus I had to explore the world beyond 5-way binding posts and RCA connections. I’m glad I did. SpeakON connections are bargain priced compared to the usual hi-fi options and I was delighted to learn they are rock solid. Between this and the associated 4-pin connectors, I couldn’t be happier. I don’t want to use bananas, spades, 5-way posts, et. al. ever again. Granted this is only running LF so jury is still out on audio dork quality in the mids, etc. but these are robust, easy to install, rock solid connection points that are absolutely worth exploring for the DIY/HT/Stereophile crowd. A crazy bargain and far more vibration and “whoops” resistant than any non-locking option.

plug and play
I wanted to wire a SpeakON plug into an old bass cabinet (SWR Triad). Wiring the socket / panel mount was the easy part. With clearly marked male spades, integrating the wiring for the cabinet to the plug was easy. Doing all the work that lead up to that (replacing and then relocating the crossover, replacing some wiring and last getting female connectors on) was not. I have absolute faith in these panel mount connectors. I have rehearsed and performed dozens of times through this connector, experiencing clear static-free tone. Highly recommend. There are other, cheaper, alternatives mounts, but for the labor involved, the few pennies saved on cheaper parts will get spent 10-fold when you need to do it again because cheap parts fail.

Tough, sturdy, brand-name Neutrik. Probably will outlast the rack panel I put them in!
