Worked surprisingly well on surface level scratches
I watched a video first before using the scratch removal product. A car door had hit my wife's car, and made a dent and scratch. The scratch was removed and it makes the dent really hard to see. It was so well I used it on my car to remove some of the swirl marks left from car washes. It works surprisingly well on surface level scratches.

Well worth it
Wonderful product. Was recommended by someone and I’m glad I listened. Cleaned up the scratch (90% of it) and restored the shone.

Works as advertised if you have realistic expectations
This kit is outstanding. Used on a dark grey metallic car, world rally blue car, and a dark green car (all clear coated) with outstanding results. However, you have to have realistic expectation management and understand a few things before using it: 1) This kit is for light scratches only--as in very minor, just into the clear coat type of scratches. If you think it will do more, you will be disappointed. I used it on a deeper scratch (but not one that exposed the primer), and while the visibly white part of the scratch is gone, if you look closely, you can see the “indent” of where the scratch was. However, that indent is at least "color matched" LoL! 2) This kit uses a tiered system of abrasives to essentially “blend” away light scratches. That said, you must have a very, very, very light hand. Anything more and you WILL create dull spots. Did I mention using a light hand? When using the sandpaper, use only enough pressure so as to not drop the paper when using it. When using the pads/drill, put enough pressure on it to only to maintain surface contact…do not push the drill/pad into the car when working on it. 3) You must have a light hand. 4) You must take your time. Like others that are impressed with this kit, I wish it came with more of the included products: more sandpaper, more scratch remover, and more compound. Hence only 4 instead of 5 stars. Otherwise, great and effective kit!

Works Well on the Typical "Scratches"
This does the job of removing those annoying "scratches" on your vehicle with minimum effort. I've always been able to completely remove what is essentially paint transfer from another vehicle to your vehicle. This won't help with the major or deep scratches but works well for the minor and surface (above the clear coat) scratches.

Worked Great for Me
I bought a new red Bolt EV and within the first week a clay rock hit the hood and put a 1" by 3" tan scar on it. I tried the dumb toothpaste and q-tip trick and it made things worse. The scar was smaller but the clear coat was heavily scratched. I was looking at a new or repainted hood so I didn't have much to lose; so I bought this. I will admit during the sandpaper part I was insanely nervous. You have to use a lot of water as you do it and do it *lightly*. I imagine the people complaining it made things worse must've used too much pressure. I had to stop/start 5 times (they recommend lots of water as you use it, for 10 seconds at a time, then wipe and check). After that, it looked pretty bad. The tan scar was mostly gone but the clear coat looked awful. I did the compound phase and my worries started to disappear. Compounding brought back 80% of the shine and the tan scar was gone entirely. The polish part took me longer than the instructions said. I had to do it 5 times, the last of which was done an hour later as I thought it could be improved. The end result is... Dead on you cannot see the scratch anymore. The clay rock did go further and slightly damage the paint, but it's only visible if you know where to look and get a light reflection on it. For the cost and effort, I'm absolutely happy with the result. I have no regrets having bought this product. I can be honest and say this is a legit review. I paid for the product and was never solicited for a review. Just... Do the sanding lightly and know that this product isn't generally for deep scratches. Maybe I just got lucky, but I'm not complaining.

Be very careful
I had a scratch on my car that I wanted gone so I did some research and decided I would try to buff it out with this 3M scratch removal system. I watched the video multiple times and read the directions very carefully. I am very good at following directions but in the blink of an eye when I was using the small sand paper that comes with the product, it took the paint right off of my bumper. I was not applying much pressure and it really happened so easily and fast it was very disappointing. It turned my scratch into a quarter sized stripped down area and now I have to have a professional fix it. I have to stress that I went over the directions very carefully. My conclusion is that this is not something that should be used by beginners who are new at doing touch-ups. I think it probably takes some extra knowledge to know how to approach these things as well as practice. I also must mention that the package was missing the rubbing compound it was supposed to come with and when I called 3M they wrote it off and told me to contact Amazon, which wasn/t even worth my time. Now I wish I would have just left the scratch alone or let someone more experienced buff it out. This system just opened up a can of worms and caused more damage to my vehicle so be very careful if you choose this product for touch-up's.

works remarkably well
I had a scuff mark the full length of my outback. One kit was more than enough for the job. To be honest, I was a little leery of the claims. I followed the directions in the package. I used the sandpaper supplied in the kit I wet it with water and LIGHTLY rubbed the scuffed area. Ten minutes was sufficient. It left a dell matte finish which concerned me. I wasn't sure it would polish out. Step 2 was a purle hook and loop sponge that was chucked in a portable drill. I ran it at about 500 rpm with light to medium pressure. It refined the finish very nicely bringing back about 75% of the gloss. I did the same process with the black sponge and polishing compound and brought the scuffed area back to original gloss. One thing they don't elaborate on the instructions is maintaining lubricity during the finishing process. If the sponge squeaks it is not getting sufficient lubrication and the finish suffers As soon as you hear the squeak, stop and put a drop of water near the center of the sponge. I kept a glass of water close by. When the sponge squeaked I stopped, dipped my finger in the water ans touched my finger to the sponge. It worked great, lubricated the sponge and didn't wash away the abrasive. There is no evidence of a scuff on the car now. I highly recommend this system. Best $20 I've spent in a long time.

Terrible Experience: 3M Scratch Remover Ruined My Paint
Absolutely terrible! This supposed "small scratch remover" from 3M is not only useless, but it caused much worse damage than what I was trying to fix. I wouldn't give it half a star if I could. I bought this product hoping to eliminate a superficial scrape on my car door. I read the instructions to the letter and, just to be sure, I watched the official 3M video on their website. I meticulously followed every step the manufacturer indicated. The result? The original scratch is still there, but now I have a considerable and visibly lighter mark in its place. The product removed part of the paint! Instead of a simple, small line, I now have a serious defect that has completely ruined the finish. Now, thanks to the poor quality and ineffectiveness of this product, I am forced to spend a significant amount of money to take the car to a professional paint shop and correct the disaster this 3M bottle created. Damn product! If you value your car's paint, stay away from this. Save your money and your time, and don't risk having to pay for a full paint job after using this garbage.

Saved me a respray job
I'd accidentally scratched my 3 month old CX5 by trying to remove some glue-like bird droppings with a twig - bad idea. The scratches were very obvious and really annoyed me every time I got in the car. I called three 'professional' scratch removers in my area, and when I sent this photo they all said I'd need to get the whole panel resprayed...! I saw this 3M product on a product review channel on YouTube - it came out the best one but also the most expensive. I thought I'd give it a try - even if it didn't fix it it'd probably be better, or I'd need to get the whole panel resprayed anyway. For $60AUD it's worth a go. I've just spent about 30 minutes using it - and the scratches are totally gone - it looks like new. If you look at very specific angles in the right light you can just about see some very slight indentations where a few scratches were - but they edges are very softened and there's no colour difference. Basically you can't see them anymore. I'm sure if I spent a bit more time on it then it would be flawless. I did an area about 30cm x 15cm overall and there's plenty of the two rubbing/polishing compounds left over. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow - all you need is a power drill which can run at low speed, some water and a few paper towels. Great products - saved be a lot of money.

Great quality, long lasting
Makes easy work of removing scratches with the proper compound! Just wish they made a 5” or 6” pad for a polisher.

Hace lo que promete
Funciona en rayones superficiales. Lógicamente en los que se pierde mucha pintura, no funcionan.

FANTASTIKKKKKK!
OMG I never believed it would have work that great! I succeed to remove a serious surface scratch! But beware, if the scratch is too deep like to the metal it won't work. But for clear scratch like the one on the picture it did magic! I cannot even found were the scratch was now. THANKS 3M!
