I was looking for a very tall but narrow bookshelf, and this one fit the bill perfectly. The rustic brown shelves and black metal frame blend beautifully with my decor, and the quality honestly exceeded my expectations. It arrived well-packed and was quick and easy to assemble — I was able to do it myself in about 40 minutes (probably would’ve been closer to 30 if my two dogs and one curious cat hadn’t insisted on “helping”). The directions were clear, the parts were well-labeled, and everything fit together neatly. The finished shelf is tall, sturdy, and absolutely a bargain at this price. It even includes wall anchors for extra safety — a thoughtful touch if you have pets or live in earthquake country. I’ve only had it a few days so far, but I’m very impressed with how solid and attractive it is. I’ll update this review after I’ve loaded it up with books and plants, but my first impression is five stars all the way.

We have been needing some bookcases to shelf some books and eliminate a lot of clutter in our home. I took a chance on this bookcase, and I’m glad I did. Unlike a lot of furniture items requiring assembly these days, this bookcase arrived well packaged against damage and with no missing parts. There are a lot of screws used to assemble this bookcase, and I was astounded to see that none were missing but that there were even an extra couple of screws in each size. No tools are needed for assembly other than the Allen wrench and small crescent wrench provided. Assembly is straightforward and can be accomplished by one person, although a helper would make it easier. One caveat to note is each of the metal sides of the bookcase is composed of three sections that fit together and secured with screws. Make sure that each section has the holes aligned in back because those holes are used to secure the cross struts in back. I didn’t notice this at first and had to spend an extra hour disassembling and reassembling the bookcase. I ordered three of these bookcases, and now that I know how they’re assembled properly, it will probably only take an hour each to assemble them. After assembling three of these bookcases, it’s worth noting their quality of manufacturing. All holes were drilled precisely, the threaded ones were tapped perfectly and have metal inserts to ensure proper fitting. No parts were missing or damaged, which is especially impressive given the large number of screws and nuts involved with assembly. I have ordered lots of furniture over the years that required assembly, but I have never had any that was manufactured and packaged as accurately as these bookcases. Once assembled, I was impressed with the stability of this bookcase despite its 7 foot height. Some hardware and drywall anchors are provided to secure the bookcase to the wall, but it seems plenty stable without this. As far as room goes, I was worried about fitting full-size hardback books on the shelves, but there is ample height even for taller books. I am very pleased. Overall, both my wife and I are extremely happy with this bookcase. It’s stylish, attractive, sturdy, and has a ton of bookshelf space. This bookcase is frequently discounted, but even at full price given the quality of manufacture it’s worth buying.

I ordered this shelving unit yesterday at noon and it arrived by 3pm today. I am extremely happy with the quality of the piece and speed of shipping. The shelving unit is heavy duty and the shelves are beautiful and smooth. They secure to the frame and I appreciated that this unit has support on the sides and bottom for each shelf. Some other shelving units have shelves that only screw in from the side with no support underneath, and that just leaves possibility for bowing of the shelves over time and stress. Two things to note: 1) Everything other than the screws to secure the unit to the wall, are allen key screws. They do provide tools to put the entire unit together but it is A LOT of screws, which is great for stability, but will take time to assemble and tire out your fingers if you do it all by hand. 2) I highly recommend getting heavier duty drywall anchors, even if one screw for the safety bars can go into a stud. I provided a photo of the drywall anchors and screws set I recommend. If you plan to attach one of the sides of a safety bar to a stud, you will definitely want a longer screw than provided. Especially with the height and weight of this shelving unit, including the items you will have on it; you will want all the structural support you can get. Included are closer pictures of the unit with a lot of books on it. A picture of the room for perspective, with nine foot ceilings. And a picture of the drywall screws I recommend for securing this shelving unit to a wall. I always recommend securing furniture, especially if you have children or live where there are earthquakes. But especially if you plan to place this in a carpeted area like I did. Overall, I highly recommend this book shelf. It was the best I found in this price range across multiple companies and selling platforms. By hand, this unit took me two hours to assemble with nosey children interrupting me throughout the process. Lol. I recommend some extra items to make the process quicker, smoother and safer. The sturdy drywall anchors I mentioned and an allen key drill bit/drill (used carefully so as not to strip your screws). The instructions are simple and all the parts are labeled as well to make assembly easy to understand. Fantastic product!

Absolutely thrilled about this book case! I wanted to reorganize my office and keep my library handy to increase my reading. The instructions were easy and assembly on the floor (as instructed) made it easy. This piece fits perfectly next to my home office couch and added a little flare & decor. This is an absolute gem of a piece!! The height allowed for me to add all my books while maximizing space!! I accidentally purchased two and wish that I could keep both!

These bookcases are FANTASTIC. Of the Eleven I have purchased, one came with an incorrect part that I cannot purchase at my local hardware store. I immediately contacted customer service, who sent me an e-mail three days later saying they needed pictures and proof of purchase. So I sent them immediately and heard nothing back. Just as I was about to give up, the correct part arrived. They have an e-mail-only customer service contact, no phone number. So, if you need a replacement part, send a picture of the necessary part and proof of purchase, and you will cut the response time in half. I reduced the stars to four because of their customer service; the chance you will need them is slim, but their lack of communication is very frustrating if you do. The bookcase is solid, sturdy, attractive looking, and looks great sitting side-by-side. They are straightforward to assemble. I am 69 and have no problem putting them together myself (pay attention to the holes and ensure they are all on the same side). They are heavy, so getting them upright may be challenging (I put them together on the dining room table and then pivot them upward). We plan on replacing all of our bookcases with these. They are just amazing for the price. They are also narrow, which is a bonus because they will fit in more places. For example, we were able to put one behind a door in a bedroom, giving the room more storage space. We also fit one into the kitchen area, giving me a real bookcase for all of my cookbooks, which is a major plus!

I wanted a tall shelf that was sturdy and attractive. I love this bookshelf! Nice quality for the price!

I was concerned before I bought this bookshelf because some customers said it was hard to assemble, or that they started wrong and had to take it apart and start over. Here's my advice: in step 1, assemble the bookshelf's side pieces (having bought the tallest bookshelf, I had 3 side pieces for each side) with the holes on the long edge of each side piece facing in the same direction (to the rear). Those holes are where, in step 3, you will attach the X bars that keep the bookshelf straight (look at the picture of the completed bookshelf). To do step 2, I leaned one assembled long side up against a couch and held the other long side up across from it while I attached the straight center bars between the sides. The center bars will support each wooden shelf. *I still made sure that the holes in the long edges of the bookshelf sides were facing in the same direction.* In step 3, you'll see that you needed those holes at the back edge of the sides in order to screw in the X bars. After that, in step 4 I just put each shelf in place and screwed each one down. The bookshelf is straight and seems quite sturdy enough to hold a lot of books, because of the iron bars under each shelf. It looks really cool, too, just like in the photo on Amazon, with the decorative iron bars on each end and the dark wood color. Of course the end bars are not just decorative, they're useful because the books lean against them, so I don't need to use bookends. And the whole thing is narrow and tall so I can fit it into my tiny living room. Glad I bought this shelf.

What a beautiful bookcase. Super sturdy and does not wobble at all. My 16 year old son and I assembled it with no issues. Only thing, even though the width was clearly stated, I assumed it to be wider (my fault). No biggie, I will just buy another one to fit the crazy amount of books I have.

This bookshelf is very well made. The metal frame is extremely sturdy and the engineered wood shelves are of excellent quality. The design of the metal frame is well thought out as it not only looks very modern and stylish, but it also prevents the books on each shelf from falling out. The seven shelves offer a lot of storage space as I have filled mine with approximately ninety hardcover books. I would consider buying this bookshelf again. For the price (I had used a $30 off coupon) it was an excellent deal!.

I’m glad others found the directions for assembly quite easy, but I did not have that experience. In truth? I was ready to throw it off my balcony. Luckily, someone came to help and it got completed. It’s also skinnier than I expected, but it fits a different spot than I originally planned for perfectly, so all is well.
