Can you add an extension arm?

I was able to, but it didn’t work for my application

can I add the vibration damper to this one

Yes you can. I bought one to add to my bike's Mirror arm. Works great with my phone!

Anyone know how the phone itself is retained to the mount? I see no details on that.

You have to buy the phone case as well. The case has a mounting female end on the back of it.
