Mine never unlocked on it's own.

What size bolt for the base ?

I used large self tapping screws as mine was mounted on the aluminum seat. If you are able to use bolts then I would say 3/8 to 1/2 inch bolts. Length would depend what you are bolting it to. They are well built seats. I have had mine on my boat for 4 yrs. now with no issues at all.

Can you flip the seat around? nded to detach seat to flip it 180 into different position while beaching

I think I get what you are asking. It can be detached in any position, and reconnected in any position as long as you have enough space to slide it back on. Think you would need approximately 6 inches of space.

My husband weighs 350 and it was too small
