Another great Bosch tool
Great value for the money; when my Craftsman hammer drill died and parts were nowhere to be found, I found the Bosch at a great price with all the features I needed. Put in about 20 holes in my foundation walls the first day without breaking a sweat. Speed is easy to control and the size and weight are perfect. Bosch knows how to make great tools!

like you would with the bigger D-handle impact drill
OK. You are NOT going to drill a ton of holes with ease, like you would with the bigger D-handle impact drill. It is not made for that. This is a combination hammer and conventional drill, with a variable-speed trigger. It is well made, but after just 4 holes in HARD concrete driveway going in almost 2 inches, it was definitely HOT. LET IT COOL! Sheesh. I think it is actually made for softer masonry, like bricks, block-walls, etc. And not for constant duty in those hard situations. I did have to resort to the D-handle version with a 1/4" bit and WEJ anchors instead of the 3/16 and 5/32 bits I was using for tap-cons. Now THAT baby drills! It went through that concrete like butter! It was hard to keep the drill bit wet, because you just get started and it was done. Anyway, for this smaller drill, back off a bit and let it cool, and it will last.

Sheโs a hammer!
If you donโt mind a cord, this drill is a great tool for drilling into concrete. Did not over heat and I easily drilled several holes for anchors. Very powerful and the handle really allows me to leverage when boring into hard surfaces. We have a battery DeWalt at my job that is good, but this has all day power and is just as good if not better for a whole lot less

Case will melt it you work it too hard
Purchased this in 2015 and used it very little until two shower tile projects in 2017 where it was used to mix small batches of thinset and grout. Tried to use it last week on another project, but the armature was completely frozen. After considerable effort I finally managed to disassembly the drill. Apparently the last time it was used it generated too much heat. Not only had portions of the case interior melted thus gluing the case to the field, but also some of the melted case had glued the armature to the field. Once all the glue bonds were broken the drill again ran with no indication of any unusual resistance that would generate such heat. I knew at the time of purchase this is a light duty drill, but I did not appreciate little it could do in a single work session. I have some fine Bosch tools---I love my routers and jigsaws---but I cannot recommend anyone buy this product.

There's no substitute for a hammer drill for some tasks, and this is better/cheaper than most
Hey, it's a modest sized plug-in drill with a real hammer option (many "hammer-drill" units aren't particularly good at hammering, just drilling, most particularly the battery powered units). It's simple and seems well made. I had given up using drills (upper end 20 volt battery powered and also a plug-in semi-commercial drill) to get through thick, very high strength concrete. This works, but ......NOTE I did not need to drill holes more than 1/4" across....this unit would not be suitable for 1/2" or greater drilling.

A good drill, when it doesn't decide to slip into hammer drill in the middle of a normal drilling job.
I really liked this drill, especially since most of my power tools are made by Bosch. The corded drill is powerful and feels good in the hands. It was everything that I needed it to be and my go to drill for the tough jobs. But mine is now broken and of no use to me anymore. The drill I received kept slipping into hammer drill, without me touching the switch at all, as I was drilling. The last time this happened I was drilling with a spade bit into wood when it slipped into hammer drill, jammed and then stripped the gears inside the drill. It stills runs, but the chuck doesn't turn anymore. I used this drill quite often, so I'm not yet sure what I will replace it with. Normally that would be another Bosch, but I'm not sure it will be. I'm a little leery of replacing it with another of the same kind. That sucks, because I really liked this corded drill.

For the Price this tool is a Bargain!
I did not want to bother with renting a small tool for some minor concrete drilling. I just needed a simple drill that could drill 3/8" holes in concrete for a TV wall mount. It worked perfectly with no issues at all. No smoke, no overheating, and no problems. I wouldn't try 1/2" drill bits though - I think that would really push this drill to its limits. It took me a total of 3 minutes to drill 4 holes safely. The TV is mounted perfectly where I wanted it without any hassles. The only improvement that could be made to this product is to increase the length of the hard case it comes in. The drill, when placed in the hard case, leaves only about 2" for the wire and you have to bend the wire considerably to fit cord in the case. I suppose that Bosch could include a velcro cable tie to the product as well - but considering the applications for this product the velcro would probably end up useless after a while anyway. All in all, a great product that should last for many minor drilling projects to come!

Wicked little hammer drill.
Bought this one to replace an identical one purchased years earlier which had served me very well, but needed replacing. Didn't have work lined up for the drill, but couldn't resist the promotion price. A very tough tool, but understand its limitations. Buy the big brother for work beyond its capabilities. Nonetheless, a super tool.
