Literally the sunscreen OF MY DREAMS
They say "the best sunscreen is the one you actually want to wear," but I always assumed that I'd never find that best sunscreen. Pretty much every other sunscreen I've used smells too strong, feels too greasy, or would not cooperate with makeup, so I settled with either suffering through formulas that feel like a sensory nightmare or risking sunburn by going without sunscreen (VERY bad for glow-in-the-dark pale skin, obviously). But as I'm getting older and more interested in anti-aging skincare, I'm actively trying to make sunscreen a real daily habit rather than just occasionally using it when I'm working outside for long hours. Which, of course, means finding a formula I genuinely like. For as long as I've known about the Supergoop brand, I ignored the Mineral Mattescreen, because the only samples I got were of the tinted version (I think it was the lightest shade, "sunrise"?), and the tint + texture looked like peanut butter or hummus when swatched on my skin. The untinted version blends in far better with my skin tone and is invisible once blended, with minimal "white cast" if any at all. I don't remember if untinted was always available, but if it wasn't, I would've never bought it...and I would've missed out on the sunscreen of my dreams. No joke, this sunscreen is the literally only one I've EVER found that's so comfortable I could wear it as routinely as my moisturizer without a second thought. The texture? IMMACULATE. Literally so silky and feels like I have nothing on, even when I put three full fingers' worth on my face instead of two. And because it's a mineral formula, it's great for sensitive skin and it doesn't irritate my eyes like others I've used. It adds a touch of blurring coverage to my face too, which is a nice bonus. I haven't had a chance to try a full face of makeup with it yet, but it feels invisible enough on my face that I think it'd perform well (assuming it doesn't make the makeup pill, of course; I'll have to update this review after testing with makeup). Either way, the fact that I'm even willing to consider putting makeup on it is a good sign. Even other sunscreens I've liked before wouldn't work with makeup if I used the full two fingers' worth of SPF. My only serious complaints are (1) the price; and (2) the bottle size, especially for the untinted version. The tinted ones come in both a (relatively small) full size and a travel size, while the untinted one only comes in the full size. I wish I could buy different size bottles for different occasions (travel size for my purse or carryon, full size for home, etc.) and/or buy it in bulk so I don't run out with proper daily use, with reapplication as needed. The only solution I can think of at the moment is either stocking up during sales with huge discounts, or finding a drugstore dupe. There's supposedly drugstore dupes of the Unseen (clear gel) formula, but I have yet to see a dupe of the Mattescreen. In the meantime, I'm justifying the cost by patting myself on the back for finally finding a sunscreen that I'd "actually want to wear." I never thought preventing sunburn, skin cancer, and premature aging could ever feel this comfortable and fit in so seamlessly with my routine. Thank you Supergoop for changing my life.

Cleared my skin, saved my life, etc.
I have the most annoying skin. Like, super sensitive, blows up in weeping hives and rashes for no apparent reason level annoying. Most products break me out, especially sunscreens, but Iโve always just accepted it as the cost of protection or avoided sunscreen altogether (yikes, I know). Well, I bought this on a whim before a trip this summer after researching its ingredients and some brands. This seemed like the cleanest mineral sunscreen I could find - the rest had pore-clogging or otherwise irritating molecules or additives. My skin usually feels tight and dry but looks oily and bumpy, and never really responds right to anything. It always has some red bumps scattered about and smaller skin-colored bumps all over my face along with plentiful blackheads - which is all on a good day. After a week of using this, my skin was the clearest itโs been inโฆ ever. Sunburn and burning sensation at application free (WHAT?) and long-lasting with a lovely satiny-matte sheen. Itโs better than any foundation Iโve tried as far as achieving that your-skin-but-better look. I stopped wearing foundation altogether! I donโt even blot or apply powder! My skin feels and looks more like my skin with this on. My pores have gotten smaller and much less congested, and my skin in general so much less irritated. I wait until my moisturizer sinks in before applying, as it can be a bit drying, and this process delivers the perfect effect. I lost my first bottle and stopped using it for a bit (itโs not cheap, you know), attributing my newly infantile skin to a general lifestyle change, but sure enough, my skin went right back to its natural discomfort. As soon as I started wearing this again my skin was right back to its smooth, youthful glow. I swear people look at me differently. Itโs like I got 2x hotter or something. Itโs the first time in my almost 10 years of being a skincare fanatic (Iโve tried just about everything and researched just about every type of ingredient/product and their interactions, all to no avail - retinols had no effect no matter how long I stuck with them, barrier-building fatty acids made my bumps spread, exfoliating acids irritated my skin and made it more sensitive, satin pillowcases/washing pillowcases more often didnโt change anything, etc.) that Iโve finally achieved the skin of my dreams. My confidence has skyrocketed. I bought a king bed because I feel like a princess. Like Princess Mia in the Princess Diaries after her makeover. I LOVE YOU SUPERGOOP routine and tips, i only buy cruelty free and vegan (donโt tell me if any of these products arenโt cruelty free or vegan): morning: brush teeth BEFORE skincare! toothpaste is so bad for your skin my lip line cleared up so much rinse with cool water, blot dry on a paper towel or toilet paper, rosehip oil and either hemi-squalane or squalane from the Ordinary depending on how tight my skin feels. just a few drops of each well rubbed in, and i let it absorb while I do other morning chores and then put on this sunscreen as I do my makeup. night: 1. Trader Joeโs jojoba oil to remove makeup and this sunscreen (reluctantly, I feel naked without it) because itโs a wax, so it performs most similarly to sebum on the skin and actually penetrates the pore in a way most oils canโt. no stinging in the eyes, either! iโll also use the Ordinaryโs squalane cleanser at times for more control, as itโs a thicker consistency and thus easier to apply, but itโs not as efficient and clogs my pores. i wipe this off on a microfiber reusable makeup removal cloth with water if thereโs a lot of residue on my skin. i wash this cloth OFTEN. 2. trader joeโs antioxidant cleanser - cheap, basic, i let it foam in my hands and then rub in and splash off with cool water. i pat dry with a paper towel or toilet paper, which has made a huge difference in my skin as opposed to using regular towels (even if you wash them after every use!) 3. i skin cycle, so here i either use the Ordinaryโs retinol in squalane, their glycolic acid toner (which I then wash off after 10 seconds to avoid burning), or I go straight to the next step. 4. THE ORDINARYโs PYCNOGENOL!! when i remember to, i rub this in and wait for it to dry before applying moisturizer. itโs made a huge difference in the effectiveness of antioxidants and in healing/preventing any infection. itโs made a HUGE difference in what i presumed to be fungal acne one my forehead, which makes sense as itโs an anti-fungal agent, and my skin always feel so much more nourished when i wake up if i apply this before my moisturizer. it also smells like pine trees which is so yummy, as itโs a resin derivative. it really gives Twilight-core walk in the evergreens vibe realness 4. a couple drops of the Ordinaryโs rosehip seed oil (so many antioxidants i keep tryna switch off because fatty acids donโt usually work well with my skin) and squalane (or hemi-squalane when the wait isnโt so dry) has been absolutely delicious and game changing. DROP THE DROPPER ONTO YOUR HAND AND NOT YOUR FACE DO NOT CONTAMINATE THE REST OF THE PRODUCT WITH YOUR SKINโS MICRO-BIOTIC CULTURE THEYLL EAT THE FATTY ACID UP AND TURN THE OIL RANCID. i wake up smooth and glowing. like i snap the hoes back from bed, i look so fresh. the end of a rant nobody asked for but you read

SPF 40. It provides great sun protection while leaving a smooth
I really liked the Supergoop! Mineral Mattescreen SPF 40. It provides great sun protection while leaving a smooth, matte finish that helps control shine throughout the day. The texture is lightweight, blends easily, and even minimizes the look of pores. It works well under makeup and didnโt irritate my skin. Definitely a great option for daily use, especially for oily or combination skin.

Super clean, completely unscented, GREAT primer for mid-thirties skin
I love this sunscreen for so many reasons. It doesn't have any scent, it feels silky smooth when it goes on, it helps my makeup look great all day long, and it's super clean. When I say it doesn't have any scent, I mean it literally smells like NOTHING. It's not just "fragrance-free" or "unscented", it smells like there is nothing on your face. All other 100% mineral-based SPF facial products I've tried have a distinct sunscreen-y smell that this just does not. It also works as a really great primer for my mid-thirties skin. It goes on sooo smoothly but once it dries, it doesn't feel slick or oily anymore -- it is truly matte. With other products, face usually gets pretty oily by the end of the day, but not with this! It also really does minimize my pores and help my foundation go on smoother. By the end of the day, my makeup still looks fresh and not patchy. I also have some fine lines around my eyes and some deeper wrinkles across my forehead, but this product helps my foundation not settle into the cracks. I'm not sure it diminishes their appearance, but it certainly doesn't draw any more attention to them. It's also juuust tinted enough that it can be used on it's own if I'm having a light makeup day, but still want to look like I tried a bit.

Some cons to consider when buying
A good sunscreen, but I have some minor complaints. Firstly, I wished they changed the bottle because itโs hard to get out all the sunscreen once itโs finished. Another thing is that it pills a little and obviously if you have dry skin just use a good moisturizer bc the finish is matte so it feels a little dry. But other than that, these are just some details to keep in mind when buying. However, I do recommend this for protection and how pillow soft the sunscreen feels when applying.

Supergood for life!!
This is absolutely the best sunscreen I've ever used. Everything about it is phenomenal. TEXTURE & APPLICATION: The texture is smooth and soft, it literally feels like I'm spreading silk over my face. It leaves no weird residue whatsoever, and absorbs beautifully. Once I've applied it, it feels like there's nothing on my face at all. TINTED COLOR / COVERAGE: Because it's tinted, it helps smooth out my complexion just a bit. This is NOT a replacement for foundation at all, and won't cover blemishes, but if you have a little bit of uneven color, this helps smooth you out in a nice, natural way. It gives that natural "she's not wearing anything" look but with a VERY slight blurring/smooth effect. Do not expect this to do the work of makeup, though. Even though it's a mineral sunscreen, it does not leave any kind of white cast. SKIN HEALTH: I feel great knowing that this is a mineral sunscreen, and therefore healthier for my skin. I have very sensitive skin, and am prone to both dry/flaky skin and acne on my face. It's really hard for me to find products that will moisturize and not make me break out. I haven't had any problems at all with this. It's so smooth and creamy, it feels like a lotion, and it's so light that it hasn't caused any breakout problems for me. Overall assessment, I could not possibly find anything to complain about. Yes, it's expensive. But for the quality that you're getting, I think it's worth the investment. I only use it on my face (and use cheaper stuff for the rest of my body lol), and a little goes a long way. If you've heard the hype and are curious to see if it's worth it, I gotta be honest... it's worth it 1000%.

Great option
Love this even though itโs matte finish. Love the texture, how it goes on and no white casting or strong sunscreen smell like other ones (chemical sunscreen in the same brand). Recommend it. No breakouts, no sunburn.

It works!
Great primer. Evens out tone & makeup goes on evenly. Feels good to wear even alone.
