Can you put these around a tree to keep cats from climbing?

Yes, you can wrap the bird spikes around in the middle of the tree trunk to prevent cats from climbing.

Are there predrilled holes for crew mounting?

Yes, there are several pre-drilled holes for mounting. FYI, I used Gorilla double-faced tape to adhere to the brick front of my house, instead of drilling into the bricks...works GREAT & SO EASY. !!

Can this be applied right next to or on a light fixture without getting too hot / melting / etc.?

The spikes are made is stainless steel, so they won’t melt. Depending on how hot the light fixture gets, I suppose there could be an issue with the mounting method (e.g. zip ties).
