Thread Wizard - The Worlds Fastest Bolt Cleaner (SAE/Standard)

What a simple but effective tool. I used it to clean all the bolts off from a Harley rebuild. Worked wonders. So much easier than manually cleaning threads, and it does a much better job. A+

I love this thing. Much faster and easier than using a wire brush, wire wheel (although it essentially is a wire wheel in a case) or most other methods for cleaning threads. It’s a bit expensive in terms of what it consists of - again, basically a wire wheel in a case. But in terms of value (time saved, etc.) I think it’s well worth the price. Also, I bought the SAE version, thinking that I’d try it out and buy the metric version if I liked it. I’ve found it works fine for both metric and SAE bolts, however.

This tool does what it is supposed to do. It did a good job cleaning up the threads of all the bolts I ran through it. I bought it primarily for 3/8-16 bolts and thought there would be a 3/8-16 threaded hole, but the opening in the plastic is smooth and the circular wire brush in the middle is what grabs the threads and pulls the bolt through. As long as the holes are similar, one tool should work for Metric bolts/screws as well.

Buy both Metric and imperial.. works like a charm and simple to use.

This thing is awesome. Such a simple design with great results. Gets off all that crust, rust and locktite with ease.

Meh. Great idea, poor execution. Would be worth a purchase if it were half the price. The wire part doesn't stick out far enough so you get very little actual cleaning in the minor diameter of the threads. The hole sizes are also too disparate, meaning a bolt won't fit in one and will not thread on the next size up. It's a decent starting point it you have multiple bolts to go through, but I still ended up finishing them on a bench grinder with a wire wheel since I had to clean the heads anyway. It's the garage equivalent of a dishwasher that won't work unless you clean the dishes 90% beforehand.

Works well. Not sure how long it will last as metal inserts are already beginning to wear some.
