This comes ready to be made but as is often the case the instructions are not up to snuff. They are basic and if you've built furniture before you're not going to have any trouble. If you're new to building furniture, here's what you need to know. Do not screw the the sides in too tightly to the front and back pieces, because you will need to put in the dowel that raises and lowers the foot rest. If you tighten everything up and then try to insert the dowel, you will have to unscrew the sides to get the dowel in. The two front and back pieces have a little bit of metal in them, I don't know why, and this goes inside, that is when you get finished these should not be seen. I put the piece with the words StrongTek in the back. I don't think it matters which one goes in the front or the back. There is a tool to screw in the screws that works well. All the holes were in the right place and took the screws very well. This is an excellent foot rest and works well under the desk or at a chair. It has good stability and is durable and a great value for the money. It looks good and the parts are well made.

Easy to assemble, sturdy and the extra cushion pad is a nice touch. Adjusting the wood bar for height is also not difficult. We bought this for someone who needed a little bit of elevation during a pregnancy but it’s also a great place to rest your feet while reading on the couch or watching TV, etc.

Directions were limited and confusing. After studying the directions for 15 minutes, it took me about 5 minutes to assemble it. I'm short, 5 feet 1 inch, so my legs do not touch the floor when sitting in chairs or couches so I'm constantly trying to be comfortable and not succeeding. The angle my legs and feet are in while using this foot rest is very comfortable. I was hoping using this foot rest would make my back hurt less when sitting for long periods of time. I'm pleased to report my lower back no longer hurts. I purchased the pad and it was a great decision -- it is very comfortable! The pad has a strap that helps it not move around. It is attractive and well made. Highly recommend this purchase.

The product itself is sturdy, constructed well, and serves its purpose. The only reasons for the deduction of a star are: The directions are not as clear as they make themselves out to be. “Follow these 3 simple steps to put them together,” then they proceed to jam a longer step process into 3 steps, so it is visually confusing. It’s also a bit of a pain to do with just one set of hands at first. You should put the little metal spacer/dowels into the sides first, NOT the rubberized base like it states as the holes on it are much more loose than the sides so they don’t stay. Then attach the support 2x4 looking pieces of wood to one side via screws, then put the base that has the rubber non slip coating facing up in the middle connected to the mini metal dowel/spacer, and finally you can attach the other side piece of wood with screws to complete it, lining up the other mini metal dowel/spacer, then add the long wooden dowel and set your height. That’s when I recommend adjusting the strap for the cushion and putting it on, clipping it around the bottom pieces and the base so it wont slip, if you don’t adjust the strap before the height is set it will be loose and you’ll be frustrated that it slides around while you’re trying to plant your feet. Beyond that, the height can be a tad frustrating to adjust as the “rungs” routed out of the sides that the dowel rests on are just bigger than necessary to take it out if you want to to flatten out the height. That being said, when adjusting the dowel, it can pop out of one side, as well as the fact that you have to bend down under the desk to do so, or pick the whole thing up and do it, so that process isn’t something you can do while sitting and using it, but once you set the height it won’t just bounce out of the resting place for no reason. Finally, one of the middle 2x4s in my particular order wasn’t fully finished, one of the edges was rough and unfinished/unstained, but it was the correct size and thank God, the holes for the screws were not misaligned. Overall it was worth the money, it does it’s job so far. I can’t speak to longevity or if it has any benefits besides being a place to rest your feet, raise your knees, and make sitting at your desk more enjoyable, but it does just that! For larger feet, (I’m a US 10.5 in Men’s) or someone who wants to spread their knees apart further when they sit/recline, it’s only about a foot and a half long so I’d go with something a bit larger if you want more coverage to move around while still keeping your feet planted. 4/5 stars, 8/10 overall! Works great! Love that you can change the angle, and the surface is very grippy even after months of use. Easy to clean too. I am a foot tapper at work and this thing is noisy when you tap it with a hard shoe. I had to put a piece of soft cloth where my foot normally rests to dampen the noise so I wouldn't annoy my coworkers.

This is the third StrongTek footrest I tried and it is just right! Here's how I know: I forget my feet are on it. I just feel comfortable! I have it on the second level. One of the small white pegs was broken but that's no biggee -- they just act as a guide. It's true the assembly instructions are terrible, but it's not hard to figure out. Tip: don't worry about keeping the moveable rod in its track, leave it out while you put the thing together. The rod will go in once assembled if you hold it at an angle. Didn’t like putting together, though works well as intended and looks good. My feet are properly propped up with a comfortable cushion. Some plastic dowel support pieces were broken when received and I didn’t buy it used. Not structural, but would have liked them. Construction instruction is not as easy as 1,2,3 but it’s intuitive and you can figure it out. Have to take apart the product to add/remove the provided cushion that clips around the foot rest board. Not difficult but annoying.

This has been great. I have it under my desk and it's solid. Easy to assemble and does everything I wanted.

Sturdy, solid, and is easy enough to assemble. Also doesn't move on the carpet, which I'm very happy about.

Although this is self-assembly, putting it together is child's play. Sturdy once assembled and it looks great. They are so good I bought 3 of them. would certainly recommend this.

This footrest is the best I've ever had - I've had several plastic ones - they bend, they break, and I've had metal ones which also bend. I don't sand on them so the bending is just sitting pressure. But this wooden foot rest is SOLID and doesn't bend. Also the post that sits in the position settings stays put so it doesn't lose it's position and need constant resetting - the plastic ones you tighten a screw to hold the position and they come loose over time. This one is the best don't waste money on any others.
