A SURPRISINGLY good uke for a great price
Im an audio engineer, and a beginning uke student. I played the guitar in high school but never really gave it that much attention. Now, all of a sudden I got the urge to get a ukulele. So I looked around, read some reviews and ultimately chose the Aklot because of the looks (that bridge is a real eye-catcher.) I've been playing now for over a month and I cant put the darn thing down. Its become my "fidget toy" and I work on chords while waiting for meetings to start. At the end of the day, I work on songs I want to seranade my wife with and its been the perfect way for me to relax, unwind and let the stress of the day disappear (seriously. I cant think about anything else when Im trying to play. My focus needs to be locked to the music.) The craftsmanship of this is REALLY good for a mass-produced instrument from China. A solid mahogany body provides a surprising amount of tone and sustain. Not as "crunchy" or "tinny" as you would expect a ukulele to sound. Instead its a warm tone, thats resonant and clear without being shrill. This tells me that the construction of the body is tight: The wood is doing its job and really letting the ukulele sing. This is honestly hard to believe from an instrument so affordable. The inside of the body is clean with no glue drips, or scuffed up wood, the neck is SMOOTH, with perfectly filed frets on a silky smooth fretboard, and the action is CORRECT, right out of the box. The laser engraving is clean and even the stain is nicely done, without any drips or smudges. This is a HUGELY UNDERRATED ukulele. If you are just getting started on the path of ukulele playing, this is hands-down one of the best instruments to start your journey with.

Great Uke, Comparable sound to Ukes that are twice the price.
This is 7th ukulele that my family has purchased in the past 9 month, all of varying price ranges, brands, and sizes. UNBOXING The ukulele arrived promptly and with all of the promised accessories. The starter pack comes in a nice box resembling a gift. The ukulele was securely wrapped inside of the bag inside of the box to prevent scratches. The bag is of good quality and is thicker than bags I received with ukes that were twice the price. The ukulele is a beautiful color and is quite pleasing to hold. The edges of the fret board are very smooth. The top of the ukulele has a rounded edge that is quite comfortable in your arms. The back of the ukulele has a slight curve which helps to project the sound. The dove bridge is really pretty. The ukulele came with pins for straps. Strangely, the strap that came with it is not the kind that uses the pins. The included tuner is adequate, but you must remember to set it to UC for it to work correctly. One felt pick and one plastic pick were included in the starter pack. This is important because felt picks are really the best for the soft ukulele strings where as guitar strings are tougher and can handle a plastic pick. The cleaning cloth is a nice touch, however the matte finish of this ukulele doesn’t really show fingerprints and using the included case should help keep it clean. FIRST TUNING I’ve purchased ukuleles both on-line and in speciality music stores. Right out of the box the strings on this ukulele were much closer to being in tune than many of my other purchases. The included book does a great job of explaining how to tune the ukulele. Many ukuleles are shipped with such loose strings that you really need to understand the c scale to figure out how to get them tuned. My first Amazon purchased ukulele had really loose strings and didn’t come with tuning directions causing me some anxiety. So, the included starter guide is a HUGE bonus to this kit especially if it is being purchased for a beginner. SUBSEQUENT TUNINGS As expected, it takes a bit of playing before the strings settle/stretch enough that they can stay in tune for an entire hour. This is NORMAL for all new stringed instruments. I’ve played this ukulele for about 6 hours over the past week and it now stays in tune for an entire hour practice session. I have noticed that the E string becomes really flat when the instrument sits for 48 hours without being played. SOUND I am very impressed with the sound of the Aklot ukulele. It is very warm and pleasing to the ear. It is of comparable sound quality to a “name brand” solid mahogany concert ukule that a family member purchased for twice the price. I personally feel like the action on this ukulele is a bit high. Therefore, I needed to press the strings a bit harder to keep them from buzzing than I do on my more expensive “name brand” uke. This was only a slight problem for the first few days I was using it. My fingers have since gotten use to the feel and I do not have trouble with the buzzing. CONCLUSION This is a fantastic ukulele for the price! The starter kit is a great value and the included instruction book is a real bonus. I would recommend this ukulele to anyone who wants to play but doesn’t have a lot of money to fork out on a “name brand” instrument. You can take this uke to jams and group lessons with no fear of being embarrassed. The quality is so good that no-one will know it’s not a “name brand” unless you tell them. Keep in mind, instruments want to be played. Their sound quality continues to improve the more they are played.

Worth it??? Yes!!! (6 Year Update)
6 YEAR UPDATE: I was curious how long I've had this uke. Checked Amazon and it says I have had it 6 years. Wow, time flies when you are having fun I guess. I've played it daily for those 6 years and it looks, sounds, and plays like the day I got it. I've thought about getting a "high end" ukulele, now that I feel I deserve one after so much practice...but this one really sounds great and I'm still very happy with it. I will say, the bird shaped bridge still hasn't grown on me-oh well, what ya gonna do. By the way, I have not changed the strings YET (lol) and it holds tune like a boss. I’m a musician who has performed regularly for years. Typically on guitar, but in the last few years I have developed a love for the uke. Uke is like playing guitar, but fun. lol. So the Aklot. The short answer, hands down the best uke in this price range. I don’t think there is anything else in the ballpark. This is not a toy, it’s a true instrument. I’d even go as far to say it’s a work of art. What a beautiful instrument. I have no clue how they made it this quality at this price point. Honestly, I feel like someone dropped the ball in the pricing department and I got this at a steal. Before buying this I made about 12 months worth of trips to the uke/guitar store to try out different models. The uke comes with all kinds of stuff, none of which factored into me buying it-the instrument was the only thing I considered. But, the gear it comes with is good-the tuner and strap are my favorite and get daily use (the uke does hold tune very well)! Even the box it comes in is top notch. Did I mention the uke has a solid wood top? So awesome! I love this uke.

A very good buy, considering...
My Aklot ukulele was advertised as condition used - mint. It came without a mounted "A" string and the #1 hole in the bridge was not drilled thru. The last owner probably took the "A" string from the set of extra strings that came with the ukulele and tried to install it and discovered the blocked hole. I can see why that person returned the ukulele. Anyway, I drilled out the hole and installed the string. Now the uke not only looks very good, but also sounds very good. I'm happy with it. For the set of extra strings, I have a pack of 3 instead of 4. Bill M

How Does AKLOT Do it?! Amazing Value for the Money!
This is the best starter pack out there! This is a concert size so it’s the perfect size for all players of all levels. So when you receive this, it comes in a pretty box and all the accessories you need for playing a ukelele. It comes in a gig bag with a decent sized front pocket where you can easily put your tuner, extra strings, etc. So let’s talk about accessories. It comes with a nice strap (not the lanyard type) that snaps on to the strap buttons that are pre-installed (sweet)! It makes playing more comfortable and easier. It also comes with a tuner and battery is also provided. It’s very easy to use. It also comes with cleaning cloth, extra strings, picks (one felt, one plastic), a chord chart, and a booklet on how to play ukelele. The ukelele itself is beautiful. It has a rich reddish staining on it. The bridge looks interesting (looks like a bird). The rosette design is an extra beautiful touch. It has solid top mahogany! What?! That is amazing for this price point! It also has real bone nut and compensated saddle. Another what!? Normally you only find that on ukes that are 3x the price! It also comes with Aquila strings. As for playability, it is very playable right out of the box! The action is pretty good! 1.5mm on the first fret and 3mm on the 12th fret. The ukelele is very light weight and balanced. It has fret markers on 5th, 7th, 10th, 12th, 15th, and 17th frets. And it also has side fret markers on the said frets! The body has rounded edge so it’s comfortable to hold while playing. The sound is so mellow and balanced. I actually prefer the sound of this over some of my other concert ukes that are 3-4x the price! I think this uke is a great value for the money! I highly recommend this to beginners and also advanced players alike!

Love it. No complaints.
Just got this... And I'm a newbie too ukulele but I can tell quality when I see it. This is not a toy. I would have guessed its price at least around $100 or more. It holds its tune nicely and sounds pretty good. Now I just got to practice but I must say I'm quite pleased with this item. One thing to mention for newbies is that the frets are pretty tight and if you have large hands or sausage fingers this may pose a challenge and a larger Tenor Ukulele might be a better choice.

Much Better than I expected!
I ordered this as a gift for my 10yr old grandson. I'm hoping he'll enjoy it. (It will be a Christmas gift). I wanted to pull him away from the video games with something totally different. I had heard he was getting uke lessons in school before this pandemic hit. His parents decided to keep the kids home this fall and do the schooling remotely. I didn't want to spend too much on a uke for him at this point, so I opted for this uke because of the price and the comments people made about it. I'm here to tell you that I was beyond pleasantly surprised when I opened it up. For the money you really can't go wrong. It's really a very nice ukulele. It feels very nice in the hand. I could only find one very small cosmetic flaw that does not detract from the uke at all. The frets are all nice and flush...no sharp edges. Fingering them is easier than on my own Oscar Schmidt uke. It comes with quality Aquila Supernylgut strings and the sound is really nice. Way better than I expected. This is not and does not sound like a toy. I'd be happy to add it to my own collection. ...in fact I very well may ( I want something for a low G set up). I didn't get into all the rest of the stuff that comes with the starter set but I did look at the strap. This one came with a regular strap that will use the installed strap pegs, rather than that single hook strap mentioned in some previous reviews. (Good thing!) It also comes with a tuner. I didn't open that up for a look because I have my own and used it to tune this uke. Like all new ukuleles, it will take some time before the strings get stretched enough...so expect it won't stay in tune right away. Give it a couple of weeks (play it every day). Because this is going to be a gift, I left the extras alone. My primary concern was the Uke itself. It's beautiful! I'm quite happy and I'm sure my grandson will get enjoyment out of it. His father has a uke, too, so they can learn together! I would definitely buy this one again.

I didn't received all the items mentioned
In the description and image says it imcludes: start manual and full set of accessories (tuner, strap, picks, gig bag, extra set of strings), however I only received the ukulele and the gig bag, the other accesories were not delivered/included. I believe something was wrong when shipping the product since all of the reviews were good and saying how everything was included but unfortunately was not my case

Straconsigliato!
