8 1/2 Inch Ceramic Rod without Handle. 8.5" overall. Rod only, does not include handle. Bulk packed. Proudly made in the USA. Review: Sharpens like a dream. - Sharpens kitchen knives so quickly and with ease!! I was so impressed that I came back to order more to give as gifts in the future to loved ones. Seriously love this ceramic sharpening tool. It is a decent length. Be careful and take your time to get the right angle. Takes very little time and I think my most used, dullest kitchen knife is sharper now than when I got it. After looking at expensive sharpeners and all the pros and cons, the intimidating instructions and not ordering any knife sharpener for 2 years because of all of that, I tried this....I am SOOOOO glad I found this one! Just a few swipes of the ceramic dowel on the edge of dull blade and oh boy is that knife sharp!! One of THE BEST purchases I've ever made! The price. The quality. The result. All excellent!! Review: Best Knife Sharpener On desertcart Next To The Lansky Blade Medic - This stone is amazing. It does a fantastic job on all my knives (Benchmade, Cold Steel, Morakniv, Kershaw, Schrade, Buck, Old Timer, Ganzo, CRKT, Kitchen Knives and more...). I dont even use a wet stone anymore. If my blade edge is really beat up, I use a Lansky Blade Medic (the preset carbide guides allow you to re-shape the blade to a 30-degree angle after four to ten pulls through the carbide guides). Then, I use an Arkansas 8 1/2" Ceramic Rod to make the jagged blade edge that the carbide guides make after the blade edge is reshaped (the ceramic rod turns a jagged metal blade edge into an edge that's as smooth/sharp as glass). After thirty to sixty seconds with the Arkansas 8 1/2" Ceramic Rod, I use a razor strop for ten to twenty equal passes on the leather to clean up any additional burs on the blade edge. I'm finished after that. The Lansky Blade Medic runs $10 to $13 dollars. For a finer/thinner/sharper blade edge, try the Lansky Quad Sharp for $12-$15 dollars (it comes pre-labeled and pre-set to the following angles: 17-degrees, 20-degrees, 25-degrees, and 30-degrees). Both Lansky Knife Sharpeners: The Blade Medic and The Quad Sharp are small and pocket sized. Currently, I have three Blade Medics in my Bugout Bags/Camping Bags and one Quad Sharp Sharpener for use on knives at home. The 17-degree angle carbide guides make an extremely sharp filet knife in under fifteen seconds (plus an additional thirty seconds if you decide to strop the blade).

Love the Ceramic Larger Diameter
They are a little bigger diameter than my old ceramic sticks. That is a good thing, even though I had to drill bigger hole in my wooden base. I snapped one of the smaller diameter sticks while sharpering a knife. It would be hard to break these, unless you drop them onto a hard surface. Ceramic sticks are great for making a knife blade extremely sharp. really sharp.

Great rod at a great price!
I've bought two of these so far (thanks son for using the first one as a sword) and it works great one my blades. I now just run my blades with a "V" edge over this rod and they have a nice sharp edge on them when I'm done, granted I don't wait till the edge of my blades are completely messed up before I use this. When my son dropped and broke the first one it almost broke in half but one side was shorter so now I carry the short one with me to help keep a great edge on my Victorinox SwissChamp and Leatherman Charge TTi when out of the house. Can't go wrong with the price!

FINISH HONE YOUR KNIVES WITH THIS PROCESS!
These ceramic rods are STEP TWO out of a three step sharpening process I use, and I keep my knife collection at razor sharp always. FIRST STEP (for a used, dulled knife) is a metallic sharpening rod like you'd get with a kitchen knife set. This ceramic rod is step two, and STEP THREE is a leather strop with fine polishing compound. Talk about sharp! It's a little unconventional, but the way I use my ceramic rods is 20 strokes angled away, 20 back. Then 19 away, 19 back... all the way down to 2 strokes away, 2 strokes back, followed by 2 away, 2 back (do this 20 times). Then 1 stroke away, 1 back 20 times. Finish with a couple sweeps over a rouged strop. I've purchased several from this company. They've always come packaged beautifully, and though the rods can be a little fragile (they're ceramic, after all), I've never had one show up broken in shipping. Very efficient sharpening tool. Washes dasily with warm soapy water. Great tool! -Nater

Serviceable.
The grit is a bit rough for what I was expecting. That being said it can hone your knife edge just not to the degree I like. So one side has some stropping compound on it to get what I want.
