PROBAR - Base Protein Bar, Chocolate Bliss, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, 20g Protein, Plant-Based Whole Food Ingredients, Natural Energy (12 Count)

The bar is rock hard and the texture inside is like gravel. The flavour is sort of generic sweet, but one of the sugars has almost a sweet liquorice after taste which is pretty gross for a 'cookie dough' bar. The box I received had less than 2 months left in date which is pretty disappointing, as well as evidence of improper temperature storage (the chocolate had bloomed). I honestly thought the vile taste might be due to them being off or mouldy but I don't think they are, they might be intended like this. I think for the price and for the calories/macros, you're better served finding a protein cookie dough recipe if that's what you're really looking for. This will not provide that experience, although convenient and filling.

Read reviews and decided to buy, especially it was a great deal. Once received, decided to try and I got very disappointed. Thought I’m biting a stone at first (never ever in my life I had such a hard protein bar), and when I finally bitten it and tried the flavour I realised that it’s not what I expected/wanted. Would not recommend

If I had written this review a few weeks ago, I would have said this was the best protein bar I had ever eaten. Soft, with a light crunch, an incredible mouth-feel when eating. Basically just a tasty candy-bar, without being too sweet, and not the dense chewiness of other protein bars. Fast forward to a few weeks ago. We get 2 boxes, because I decided to get them regularly, because they were (previously) so good. Bit into one. It about hurt my teeth, the bar was so frickin hard as a rock. Because I got 2 boxes, I later tried the other one. Also hard and nearly inedible. So, it had gone from the best bars to basically the worst bars I had tried?? I generously assumed that I had gotten a bad batch? Or maybe one that was left in an inventory too long and was old? I kept my product subscription, and today got a new box. Again, just solid bricks. Barely edible. I honestly don't know what is going on. Either they are keeping inventory too long, and their bars are turning into bricks, in which case they have bad quality control. OR they've changed their recipe and are coasting on old positive reviews, while sourcing cheaper ingredients. I don't know. But, I would say, until you see someone reviewing that says the product quality has again improved, I would avoid this product.

This is a harder bar than some of their other products. It flakes when bitten into, so convenience eating in a car will leave a mess.

I have tried Quest protein bars, No Cow protein bars, and all sorts of protein bars. None of them come close to PROBAR's protein bar. Seriously, the ingredients are great, the taste is perfect, and I feel good knowing that I'm eating something that is not harmful towards me. Also has a great amount of protein, without compromising the quality. I hope this brand continues to make protein bars, because as long as they do, I will continue to invest in them. Update: I was accidentally sent a variety pack instead of chocolate, but I can’t complain. They are brilliant with their flavors. All of them are great!
