MD Building Aluminum Commercial Flat-Profile Threshold, Silver, 36in

The product was carefully and accurately made. However, the packaging was inadequate and it arrived bent. Not severely, but bent. Careful installation cured the ill and now it is an impressive threshold and admired by all who step up and comment. Very shiny. "Stylish" it says, and to that I add my own multiple Huzzahs.

Great product

This was bought to use in the installation of a new door in the outside entrance to my basement. I had to have a portion of my basement wall removed and rebuilt and we had the cellar entrance rebuilt at the same time as it was failing as well. I needed to close the cellar entrance area off from the rest of the basement to help with heating and cooling, but I didn't want to put in a standard size door in case we wanted to take large items in or out of the basement, so I opted for a 42" wide door, but it had to be shorter than the 80" standard, so we bought a slab door and cut it down to fit, but I needed a way to seal it, so this threshold with a rubber sweep was my solution for the bottom. It works fantastic, but it was so tough that we wore down a cutoff wheel on a grinder about halfway just cutting it off to length. It is not solid 1/4 inch, it appears to be extruded aluminum, or it could be milled from a solid billet. Either way it is very tough. The screw holes appear to have been done by a punch press or a very rapid drilling or boring bit on a machining center as the holes are not clean on the bottom side, but it doesn't affect anything. The finish is pretty good, but will be easily scratched. This thing should last forever in the application I am using it. It would work very well for a threshold for any high traffic area especially if you have double doors. I wish I could have found this in a shorter version, but with a little work it was easily modified for my project. It is mostly flat and easy to work with, very rigid, relatively light, and extremely tough.

These arrived in great packaging from amazon. I was initially disappointed in the quality of the finished surface. The bottom side had some foreign brownish material on the bottom. The top side had a 10 inch scratch diagonally that looked terrible. Now I know these get beat up with use.. but couldn't it look good BEFORE I even put it down? Second piece was even worse with mottling and bright/dark transitions that looked obvious. I took a 5 inch orbital polisher to both pieces and 10 minutes later they were acceptable. On the bright side, they were true and very sturdy. My use case was not for a threshold, but as sill plates for an older conversion van. They cut nice and I covered much of the aluminum with anti skid tape. These are great for a rental, garage, or other non esthetic area of lower priority. For a primary home use- I would send them back.

The price is good but out of 20 there were 3 or 4 that came with the screws. The other 16 came without screws, packaging ripped open like someone yanked the screws out!

We have purchased this threshold twice. The first time we went through quite a process, only to realize due to our house construction the frame required an entirely flat threshold. We purchased it and it worked perfectly so when my dad and mom needed a new flat threshold due to disability we knew it would work for them. It fit perfectly and my dad's wheelchair glides over it beautifully. Of course my husband knows how to cut metal to account for notches you may find in the door frame so keep that in mind. I am grateful for this threshold. It has solved two difficult problems for us.

I would consider it moderate traffic inside my residential home with a wheelchair hasn’t moved can barely fill it in the wheelchair It is sturdy once on the ground

This item needs to shipped in a carton The wrapping from manufacturer is not good for transporting Clear wrapping was torn and hardware is some were else the product was not damaged in transport it is good to install just need to buy screws. Did not receive my first one ordered.

I've seen reviews saying this is 5" not 6" as described. Purchased it anyway cuz its close enuf as I can't find the exact size I want which is 6 3/4". Fortunately the one delivered is in fact 6" wide as u can see from pic. Perfect replacement for thr ugly silver one I had which also had a higher profile. This is for the basement entrance and i cut it with a dremel to fit and laid it down with PL n supplied screws to concrete. Nice flat design and great colour n quality !!

Great. Had to cut to fit but looks good and is heavy duty.

The product itself is great and worked out very well for what we had purchased it for. However the shipping is a problem. We had to return the product two times and even the third one had some scratches. The product damage was caused by the screws coming loose and moving around within the too large box during its transportation. A couple of the screws were lost somewhere along the way. This problem could have been easily remedied by safely securing the screws before boxing it up.
