KLUTZ Lego Make Your Own Movie Activity Kit

My nine year old grandson is going to LOVE this! He is crazy about Legos, and crazy about animation. This Make your own Movie kit shows a step by step process for him to create his movie and animation, just by using his iPad or phone. He will get this for Christmas, and it will be one of his favorites! The colorful pages are super descriptive for each of the ideas, and it even shows you how to use lighting in the creation. I cannot wait to watch, and help, him make his own first movie. So fun!!! And an excellent value for the price. Very pleased with this awesome kit, and highly recommend!

We bought this for my son when he was 11 as still loves lego even now as a young teenager. My youngest played with the items AND learnt to do the stop motion videos at 7 Great instructions/directions and book And pieces that come with it We reviewed some other lego items that go GREAT with stop motion (number and letter block pieces)so make sure to check those reviews out to as we LOVED those items

This is a cute little set and introduces you to the idea of movie making with legos. The idea had not occurred to me or my kids before. I love it comes up with simple and easy instructions and everything to get started. But it is just that. You could actually make movies with any kind of figures and props you have - lego or not and use the app for the same. This will also entertain kids in a variety of ages, once they are able to use apps and take pictures. However this set really tells you how to ignite your imagination, so you can go on. :-) Will make a good gift to kids. I would recommend this set for kids aged 5-90. :-)

You don't need this item to make stop motion videos but it's a good launching point for kids. In addition to this you will need a stop motion app (We use Stop Motion Studio with the $5 add on package). This helped my kids (ages 7 & 9) figure out the basics of creating movies. They started with a couple of the examples and went from there. The backgrounds are helpful as are the additional faces and props. The amount of time they are spending creating these movies and being blissfully occupied is well worth the cost of this book.

My son saw this book in his school book order sheet and HAD TO HAVE IT. So I bought it off Amazon for his 6th birthday. He built his own mount for his iPad mini and was making stop-motion videos in no time! I was worried it would be too advanced for him, but once his dad showed him how to use the program and how to move the pieces just right, he was all set! It keeps him occupied for HOURS and I love that it’s an interactive way to channel his creativity and do something else fun with the millions of LEGO sets he has. Definitely pleased with this purchase!

This is a cute kit that provides scenes and pieces for creating stop motion Lego movies. It has different ideas and information. The biggest missing link was that it didn't come with an App link or really a good recommended App for actually creating the stop motion movies. Instead, we had to research it ourselves and paid an additional $5 for an App that would work well for us. Considering that is a large part of making the movie, it seemed like a miss which is unfortunate since we usually love Klutz kits.

My 6 YO son is obsessed with Legos and LOVES this kit. The best part is the tear-out foldable "backdrops" you can use for various scenes. It (obviously, but worth saying) doesn't come with a ton of legos, a camera, or an app/software for putting the movies together - but it does tell you how to collect all of that stuff, which we had on hand, and you probably do too. Actually my son has just been having fun playing with Lego people and cars and stuff in the little scene backdrops, or he has been happy with me filming his stories on my phone in video mode and watching them back, so you wouldn't have to mess with the stop motion thing at all if you don't want to. This would make a great bday gift for a 6, 7, 8 or even up to 10 YO. And older kids could do the movie shooting more independently. My 6YO has been playing with it for hours already - an awesome buy!

Just as advertised and speedy delivery

Excellent fun, kids spent hours building a restaurant and police station with jail from lego and then made three movies using a minecraft stop motion animation app that was free in the app store. The backgrounds were a great help for blocking out the kitchen and making the scenes look much better. My youngest asked how the tv show trapdoor was made using playdoh and I told her we would make our own movie so this lego book was the cheapest and easiest option although you could use the minecraft app and their toys for free. Thank you for 4 hours of peace and quiet stop motion animation.

Easy to follow tutorials and movie ideas, my son loved the backgrounds. He is using them for the short movies. The only thing that doesn't work that well is the recommended lego phone holder.
