USB GPS Receiver Antenna Gmouse for Laptop PC Car Marine Navigation Magnetic Base

I bought this as a backup for the GPS reeiver connected to the navigation computer on my boat. Its actully faster to aquire a usable signal that the much more expensive "marine" GPS receiver I had been using. I attached it to the overhead near my nave computer using a thin steel plate that is intended to use with magnetic cell phone mounts. Despite being upside down and under a small steel plate and under a fiberglass cabin top it works great and feeds the data into my Open CPN navigation program with no problem.

Tried to follow instructions without using install CD. The current u-center software downloadable from u-blox installs this as a USB sensor rather than it being a COM port device. After some research, had to uninstall the driver and then install the receiver again. In hind sight, I'm inclined to think if you want to use it as a COM port receiver, just plug it in and it will work. Trying to follow the instructions and getting u-center was a big waste of time.

I picked this up because the Android box in my car didn't have internal GPS, which made navigation a headache. This dongle was the perfect fix. The installation was essentially plug-and-play. As soon as it was connected, it picked up a signal quickly and has been incredibly accurate ever since. I haven't dealt with any signal drops or positioning lag while driving, which is exactly what I needed. If you're in a similar spot with a device that lacks built-in GPS, this works exactly as advertised.

The device works as a piece of hardware, but it is essentially a clone that uses a well-known GPS chip. Unless you are reasonably savvy with low-level computer requirements, such as installing and setting the parameters for a virtual com port, this may not be an easy "plug and play" for you. As an amateur radio operator, I was familiar with all these requirements and still had a few frustrating hoops to jump through to get the port set up and working properly.

Like others, I found the unlock site confusing. Not obvious which ucenter to choose, and I was put off by the seeming requirement to verify one’s identity. Instead I simply plugged the device into my W11 laptop, then used device manager to find its COM port number. I opened a terminal window (I used TeraTerm), and after a few moments saw the 'GPS sentences’ with satellite info. I look forward to using this for portable ham radio activities (POTA). Recommended

I was not able to make it work. Nothing I tried would allow the GPS to connect with my computer. Even if I could have been able to make it work it doesn't seem like it would function as a GPS for a car. It appears to be an experimental program that a programmer could use to make something find where it is in space. Unfortunately I don't have those skills.

Awesome GPS Dungle I use it to sync the time on my Laptop to GPS time for WSJT-X operations using FT-8 protocol. Awesome support Richard-Z helped me out several times.

Brilliant little unit that does exactly what was wanted when connected to a Victron Cerbo 2. Now know where the vehicle is ! Mount is magnetic.

Universeller GPS-Empfänger in "GPS-Mouse" Form. Der VFAN UG-353 enthält den U-Blox Empfänger UBX-G7020-KT. Das ist zwar nicht der neueste GPS Empfängertyp, aber bewährt und empfindlich. Unter W10 kann er als Sensor (USB Device) oder am virtuellen COM Port arbeiten. Ich habe ihn als serielles Device (COM Port) eingerichtet. Funktioniert gut z.B. mit Google Earth und OpenCPN (Schiffs-Navigation mit AIS).
