I use this base to mix my own zinc oxide, which is a wonderful healer. I mix the zinc powder into the creme at a strength greater than is now sold in stores and which gives better results when applied to minor cuts and scrapes

It's more of a clear color than white. And I didn't notice any funny smell. This is exactly what I need for my wounds. It's very "sticky" which is a big plus.
