All of a sudden, one Sunday morning, our 2001 Toyota Sequoia started running REALLY rough. It was shaking and shimmying all over the place. Idle was low and there was no power. I took it to an auto parts store to pull the codes and found we had misfires on cylinders 3 and 6. I changed the sparks plugs on those cylinders with no improvement. Turns out two ignition coils had failed. For the price here, I figured these were worth a shot considering other retailers were asking upward of $120/piece for the same thing. The coils arrived in two days (thanks Prime!), and with less than 10 minutes labor, the truck was running like new. Three weeks later and our fuel economy is already markedly improved and power has returned. I'm definitely going to do the other 6 cylinders soon since I have no idea how long it's been since the plugs and coils were replaced (perhaps never). I can't speak to the longevity of these coils yet, but they did the trick and were easy to replace.

Only need a 10mm socket and 10 mins to install. Worked like a champ. I did 3 restarts but still used a OBDII reader to clear. May take longer depending on model to clear. I believe AutoZone or O'Reilly's OBD readers will clear it for you if it doesn't self-clear. Now how long will this cheaper knockoff last? Well, I will post an update if it fails. I may buy the $60 Denso later and keep it in the glove box just in case or swap it back out and use this one for a spare. Good to have a spare because a dead cyl miss will knock your VSC and Trac Control out and it runs like crap. Good to have a spare coil or 2 with a $20 OBDII Reader in the glove box to save you a lot of $$$$.

This was purchased as a spare for a 2000 Toyota Tundra, 4.7L V8. I purchased the truck in Feb 2000 and still own it (as of 10/23/23, about 115K miles). I have replaced two of these igniters in the past so I decided to purchase this one from Amazon as a spare (in June 2023). I'm glad I did because I had to replace a third one today (cylinder 1, driver side, closest to front). Hopefully it will last. UPDATE 12/14/23: Still going after a couple of months. I purchased two more as spares to keep in the center console. I still have 5 original ones that I'm waiting to go bad, lol. Keep a 10mm socket/end wrench with the vehicle, just in case.
