Works as advertised; Can't beat the price!

I interfaced it with Century Link ADSL+. It took a couple tries but not too much time. Sometimes, as in the case with Century Link, it requires calling the ISP to determine the correct settings. I have set up multiple third party modem/routers for individuals using different ISP's; it almost always requires a call to the ISP tech support. The modem component of the device is set up as a "Bridge" between you and the ISP. Each ISP has different protocols/settings. Unfortunately, some of these settings are "hidden" in the ISP provided devices, so it is not a matter of trying to play copycat, a call to a competent tech support person at the ISP is required. If a telephone call doesn't work, try chat, then at least what you have discussed is on record ;-). Make sure you print out the chat session(s). You should not have these issues in a PPPoE connection/interface, but I have not used one of those in about 10 years. We have been using it for nine days and works as well as the ISP provided modem/router; i.e., no reduction in bandwidth. It interfaces smoothly with five wireless devices and four wired devices at the same time. This includes Ooma VOIP (wired), Fire Stick (wireless), multiple PC's (with nano power line adapters) and cell phones/tablets (wireless). My ISP charges $10.00/mo to lease their modem/router; this will pay for itself in under three months. The main objective was to reduce our "Triple Play", Land-Line, Internet and Media Content to under $100.00/monthly with minimal compromises to content and quality. The wireless range is only moderate but I am not a big fan of wireless anyway; would be OK for condo and apartment dwellers. One doesn't want to broadcast to the whole development/building. Our wired devices are behind a second switch/gateway/network connected to this device, using the TP Link nano power line adapters. This device has two feature I love; you can turn off wireless with the press of a button on the front/top of the device and you can turn off the device with a button on the back of the device.

This is my story

Ran through the setup wizard. Stuck at the connection type page.Called CenturyLink to ask them what they connection settings should be. They told me they never heard of PPPOE and needed DHCP. They told me to call TRENDnet.Called TRENDnet.Got through to tech support who asked me a bunch of questions, then told me he was busy with other customers and asked if he could call me back in 30 minutes, because he had other customers on the line. I told him to tell the other customers he would call them back in 30 minutes. He insisted that he couldn't do that, and had to call me back.2 hrs later voicemail popped up on the phone. TRENDnet tech support wants me to call them back. I call them back. They make me register the product by asking a bunch of personal questions like where I bought it and my email. I register the product, and they tell me they can't help me configure the modem without CenturyLink connection info.I call CentryLink back. They tell me I need DHCP settings and to call TRENDnet back.I call Trendnet back. They start asking me questions about the where I bought the product. I told them I already registered it on my last call. They tell me the info isn't saved, and I need to register again before they help me. I register the same product again. They tell me this modem doesn't work with DHCP settings, and I need to return to Amazon and get a different modem. I'm frustrated.I ask them to delete my product registration because I am returning the product. They tell me they can't delete my registration information. This is why people hate customer support, especially tech support.

Cheap and easy solution for Verizon DSL

I purchased this router for my parents to replace their 8+ year old Netgear DG834G that was getting dangerously hot. I thought the guided setup was very straightforward, but if you are missing information that isn't prefilled by the wizard, then you might need to call up your ISP.My experience getting online was pretty quick and painless. After hooking up the computer to the router and navigating to the configuration URL, I was able to select from a list of ISPs. My parents subscribe to Verizon DSL. I believe there were two options for Verizon, but I selected PPPoE based on how their last modem/router was configured. After entering login information (we also had this saved in our old modem) and a few more prompts to change things like SSID (optional), we were online. After being powered on for an hour, the router was warm to the touch, but nowhere near as hot as the old Netgear. My parents have a fairly small, older house. We set up this router on the second floor, and from the first floor I was getting about 50-75% signal strength on their smart TV. I'd say this router is good enough for apartments and smaller homes. For bigger homes, however, you might need a Wi-Fi extender for full, reliable coverage.Overall this was a solid deal. You can't beat ~$20 for a DSL modem/wireless router. We'll see if it holds up over time, but for now I am very happy with this purchase.

Worked well for 2.5 years, then started locking up under heavy traffic

This DSL router worked well with my overpriced Frontier 6Mbps service since 09/2018. Nice features, great price. But starting a couple of weeks ago with the warmer spring weather, the router started randomly freezing up when there was continuous, heavy traffic, usually in the summer when the ambient temp approached 80F in the basement. Cycling the router power solved the problem, but within the past few days it was locking up several times a day, and then today, every 15 minutes or so.I'm sure it's due to an overheating chip, even though it has free air circulation and it's only 65F in the basement. Too bad, it had a lot of nice features and booted up quickly, unlike its replacement, a standard Frontier wifi dsl router that takes 3-4 minutes to fully connect to the internet.

Selbst der Support von Trendnet kam zu dem Schluss:Unfortunately, the router can only be setup and work based on the information provided to you by your ISP. If all setting are correct based on their information and it still doesn't make a connection, then it could be possible that there is some sort of incompatibility issue. WLAN / LAN funktioniert einwandfrei.
