Excellent cover art
I just love the cover art on this boxed set. I’ve always wanted it and could never find it at a used bookstore, reasonably priced. So I caved and bought a new on Amazon and I’m so thankful I did because now I will own it forever. I will pass it along to my children and grandchildren. 🙂

No illustrations but all the words are there.
When I opened these books, I was certain that due to their thin presentation; not all of the entire story...i.e. all of Baum's words were in these books. In other words, I thought they were abridged. I e-mailed the publisher and was assured the OZ books are represented here in their entirety, word for word. It's the presentation that's quite sparse (belied by the wonderful cover art, mind you...and the Slip case). We are all so used to illustrated versions with colored plates and end papers and such; but these are just the words and nuthin' but the words. As much as the artwork adds to the enjoyment of reading the books, indeed it is Baum's prose that IS the story. It's all here and if it introduces my granddaughters to the world of OZ, I'm good with that for now.
